Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from d104-Book of Histology It has been impossible to accomplish this without some sacrifice of uniformity of treatment and of logical sequence. This is especially noticeable in the chapter on the nervous system, which has been made much fuller and more practical than is usual. The author's reason for the method of treatment there adopted and for the considerable amount of anatomy which this chapter contains is the apparent success the method has met with in the teaching of this always difficult subject to st ants. Book excerpt: Excerpt from d104-Book of Histology: Including the Microscopic Technic This edition has been revised in accordance with the tenth German edition, and presents much that is new, both in revision of the former text and additions throughout the entire work. Among the most important changes are - Fifty new illustrations, a number in colors, and new color schemes of the Spleen, Lung, Kidney, and Retina. Five new chapters upon the following subjects: The Form of Glands, based on the investigations of Maziarski. The Urinary Bladder, based on the researches of Lendorf. The Seminal Passages, based on the researches of Felix. The Development of the Hairs, based on the author's own researches. There are, besides, many lesser alterations and additions, including the latest investigations on the Morphology of the Cell and the Structure and Chemistry of the Tissues; also the addition to the technical part of the application of Formol and its mixtures. The editor acknowledges gratefully the appreciation of Professor Stohr's work shown by many teachers and students, and trusts that this new edition may yet increase its usefulness. Download or read book A Text Book of Histology Including Microscopic Technic Classic Reprint written by Alexander A. Böhm and published by . This book was released on 2015-06-29 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A d104-Book of Histology, Including Microscopic Technic The favorable reception accorded to the first American edition of Bohm and Davidoff's d104-book of Histology has justified the assumption expressed by the editor in his preface to the former edition, that an English translation of this work would meet with approval from American and English teachers and students. In the preparation of this second American edition the editor has retained in general the same arrangement of the subject-matter as presented in the former edition. The revision of the text has given opportunity to take cognizance of the many contributions to our knowledge of the ultimate structure of tissues and organs and of their histogenesis which have appeared in recent years, and in doing so, many of the chapters, especially those dealing with general histology, have been subjected to extensive alterations. Recognition has also been given to the results obtained by the use of precise methods of plastic reproduction, methods which have been especially useful in giving clearer and more accurate conceptions of the form and relationship of anatomic structures, too small and too delicate to admit of disassociation by means of methods of maceration and teasing and too complicated to admit of full interpretation by means of sections. Maziarski's observations on the form and relationship of the ultimate divisions of the tubular systems of many of the more important glands have been embodied, also the results of numerous reconstructions made in the Histological Laboratory of the University of Michigan. The text of this edition has been extended by some forty pages, and the illustrations have been increased from three hundred and fifty-one to three hundred and seventy-seven. Recognizing the fact that a text-book of Histology is a book which of necessity needs to be constantly used in the laboratory, and its size is, therefore, a matter of some importance, the editor seemed justified, in view of the fact that an increase in the number of text-pages seemed inevitable, to dispense in the present edition with the list of references to the literature (some twenty pages) which appeared in the former edition. Book Textbook of Histology E Book

Download or read book Textbook of Histology E Book written by Leslie P. Gartner and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2015-11-20 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thoroughly updated to reflect all of the latest concepts and advances in the field, this concise, extensively illustrated text presents the basic science and clinical application of cellular and molecular biology. Functioning as a combined text and atlas, it is essentially two books for the price of one providing a comprehensive, visually engaging histology education from the ground up. Illustrations, tables, chapter summaries and multiple choice questions facilitate comprehension of concepts, and clinical correlations underscore the practical relevance of the material. Superb illustrations—including photomicrographs, electron micrographs, schematic diagrams and drawings—provide a visual grasp and easier retention of difficult concepts. Clinical correlations throughout the text demonstrate clinical applications and reinforce the idea that histology is pertinent not only to pathology and physiology, but in fact comprises one of the essential bases of clinical practice. New! "Pathological Considerations" section at the end of each chapter. Helpful tables provide an at-a-glance summary statement of key points. Bolded key terms, bulleted lists and chapter summaries emphasize the "need to know" information in every chapter. A combination of USMLE-style questions and image based questions in each chapter.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Text-Book of Histology, Descriptive and Practical: For the Use of Students We seem, at present, to be rapidly approaching the dividing ways in the teaching of most sciences, and the question will soon be before us, Whether we shall be content to give our students a certain amount of real knowledge, or, in the endeavour to do more, perpetuate the reign of useless cram and practical ignorance. The author would acknowledge his indebtedness generally to the current standard works on the subject; and especially to Professor Stirling's Outlines of Histology for many of the formulae of re-agents. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A d104-Book of Histology: Arranged Upon an Embryological Basis When Professor Lewis decided not to bring out a new edition of his book himself, it was perhaps natural that the task should fall to me, since we have been colleagues throughout our years of teaching. In this present edition I have been given perfect liberty. For the new material and its arrangement I am solely responsible, and the omission of certain parts of the former work is also due to me. Most of those paragraphs dealing with embryological and historical subjects have been left as Professor Lewis wrote them. The section on technique, written by Dr. Lowrey, has been altered only slightly by the addition of a method for fixing and staining mitochondria. On the other hand, the sections on the brain and the development of the cranial nerves have been omitted. The growth of our knowledge of neurological anatomy has called forth special text-books on this subject, to which the student will naturally turn. To incorporate even an adequate summary of this material in this volume would increase its bulk unduly, and would give at best only a meager description of what is now a separate branch of anatomy. Book Atlas of Human Histology Classic Reprint

Download or read book Atlas of Human Histology Classic Reprint written by Arnold Brass and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-08-13 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Atlas of Human Histology The lack of an English Atlas of Histology, at once portable and at a price within the reach of the student, renders an apology for an English edition of Dr. Brass's Atlas unnecessary. This Atlas is simply a representation in colour of the appearances presented under the microscope by prepared and stained preparations of the various tissues and organs of the body, and is intended to serve as an aid and an incentive to the study of the actual specimens, and as a companion to the text-book of Histology, and not as a substitute for either; in other words, to enable the student to work out the details of his own specimens and to draw them, ample space being left for that purpose. A unique feature of the Atlas is that most of the specimens have been derived from some of the best private collections in Germany (the source in nearly every case being stated), while the figures are drawn as faithfully as possible from the actual specimens, and the process of reproduction and colouring carried out by Dr. Brass with his own apparatus. The material was in nearly all cases human, so that human, and not comparative, Histology is represented, the material being obtained fresh under conditions not readily attainable here. Book A Text Book of the Principles of Animal Histology Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Text Book of the Principles of Animal Histology Classic Reprint written by Ulric Dahlgren and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-05 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Text-Book of the Principles of Animal Histology A text-book of histology must have some very definite reason for appearing at the present time when so many good books bearing that title have appeared in the last few years and promise to continue to appear. These books, however, with practically no exceptions, have been intended for the medical school, and with this in view have been restricted to the histology of man, as a main theme, with more or less reference to other animals, principally the mammals. Such works have not filled the need of a text-book of general histology for the college course, a book that treats of the principles of the subject. They do not Show what the animal cell is capable of as a builder of tissues which enable the organism to make use, more or less completely, of nearly all the known forces of physics and many of those of chemistry. This can be realized when we consider that they do not even mention such tissues as produce electricity, light, gases, and many other things. And again much is lost in the college course in histology by the fact that, of those tissues which are treated of in the medical histology, the complete significance is lost by not seeing their earlier representation and variation in the lower forms. This volume has been written to secure a work that covers the general field of histology and is not restricted in the main to human and mamma lian forms. It is intended to be a work that teaches general principles and teaches histology as a pure science and for its own sake. It is believed that it will serve as a broad foundation for future studies of morphology and embryology as well as for the medical studies.
