Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indeed, this essential working reference for practicing civil engineers uniquely reflects today's gradual transition from allowable stress design to Load and Resistance Factor Design by presenting LRFD specifications - developed from research requested by AASH-TO and initiated by the NCHRP - which spell out new provisions in areas ranging from load models and load factors to bridge substructure elements and foundations.

Book Prototype Bridge Structures

Download or read book Prototype Bridge Structures written by M. Y. H. Bangash and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 1999 with total page 1226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This definitive reference volume provides a comprehensive guide to the analysis and design of bridge structures worldwide. The in-depth consideration given to the major analytical, numerical and design issues associated with prototype structures will reduce the effort and expense involved in future construction. The book contains numerous analytical and design examples drawn from existing structures worldwide as well as an extensive bibliography and a large appendix which covers background analyses and computer subroutines.

Book Load Testing of Bridges

Download or read book Load Testing of Bridges written by Eva Lantsoght and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-06-26 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Load Testing of Bridges, featuring contributions from almost fifty authors from around the world across two interrelated volumes, deals with the practical aspects, the scientific developments, and the international views on the topic of load testing of bridges. Volume 13, Load Testing of Bridges: Proof Load Testing and the Future of Load Testing, focuses first on proof load testing of bridges. It discusses the specific aspects of proof load testing during the preparation, execution, and post-processing of such a test (Part 1). The second part covers the testing of buildings. The third part discusses novel ideas regarding measurement techniques used for load testing. Methods using non-contact sensors, such as photography- and video-based measurement techniques are discussed. The fourth part discusses load testing in the framework of reliability-based decision-making and in the framework of a bridge management program. The final part of the book summarizes the knowledge presented across the two volumes, as well as the remaining open questions for research, and provides practical recommendations for engineers carrying out load tests. This work will be of interest to researchers and academics in the field of civil/structural engineering, practicing engineers and road authorities worldwide.

Book Full scale Tests of Channel Shear Connectors and Composite T beams

Download or read book Full scale Tests of Channel Shear Connectors and Composite T beams written by Ivan Miroslav Viest and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most common types of highway bridges in current use is the I-beam bridge, which consists of several steel I-beams supporting a reinforced concrete floor slab cast on top of the beams. The concrete slab may either rest freely on the beams or may be connected to their top flanges. Both types of bridges, called noncomposite and composite respectively, have been the subject of extensive theoretical and experimental investigations at the University of Illinois. In the scale-model composite bridges, tested at the University of Illinois, the slab was connected to the beams by means of channel shear connectors made of short pieces of steel channel welded to the top flanges of the I-beams and embedded in the slab. As a result of these investigations it was considered desirable to investigate further the behavior of both composite beams and shear connectors themselves.
