In 1981 Brother Lee spoke seventy-four messages that were published in Life-study of Exodus, Life-study of Philippians, Life-study of Romans, and Life-study of 1 Corinthians. These Life-study messages are not included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. From the beginning of the year until the middle of July, Brother Lee ministered in Anaheim, California. He then visited Berkeley, California, on a weekend and returned to Anaheim, where he remained until the first few days of September. He then visited Bellevue, Washington, for a week and returned to Anaheim. Except for a one-day visit to Santa Ana, California, near the end of September, he ministered in Anaheim until the end of the first three weeks in October. From the last week in October until the end of November, he traveled to Seoul, South Korea; Hong Kong; Taipei, Taiwan; and Tokyo, Japan. He returned to Anaheim and ministered there until the end of the year. The contents of this volume are divided into twelve sections, as follows: 1. Five messages given in Anaheim, California, on March 12 through July 23. These messages are included in this volume under the title Fellowship with Serving Ones. 2. Five messages given in Anaheim, California, on January 19 through December 7. These messages are included in this volume under the title Carrying Out the New Testament Ministry. 3. Six messages given in Anaheim and Santa Ana, California, on August 2 through December 20. These messages are included in this volume under the title Various Lord's Day Meetings. 4. Sixteen messages given in Anaheim, California, on May 11 through 16. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Central Vision of Paul's Completing Ministry. 5. Three messages given in Anaheim, California, on May 22 and 23. These messages were previously published in a book entitled God's Eternal Intention and Satan's Counterplot. They are included in this volume under the same title. 6. Seven messages given in Anaheim, California, on May 24 through June 19. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The World Situation and God's Move and are included in this volume under the same title. 7. A message given in Anaheim, California, on June 11. This message was translated from Chinese and is included in this volume under the title Questions and Fellowship concerning Full-time Service. 8. A message given in Anaheim, California, on July 24. This message is included in this volume under the title Christ Becoming Righteousness, Sanctification, and Redemption to Us in Our Daily Life. 9. A message given in Bellevue, Washington, on September 7. This message was divided into two chapters and is included in this volume under the title Carrying Out God's New Testament Economy, Caring for the Central Vision of Paul's Completing Ministry and John's Mending Ministry, Migrating and Establishing Churches in the Move of the Body of Christ, and Awaiting the Revelation of Our Lord Jesus Christ. 10. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the available records, Brother Witness Lee ministered in the Philippines until near the end of January 1957. After Brother Lee returned to Taipei, Taiwan, Brother T. Austin-Sparks visited Taiwan in February for the second time (his first visit was in 1955). After visiting Taiwan, Austin-Sparks went to Hong Kong in March for a short visit. Brother Lee accompanied him during the entire time. The result of these visits caused much confusion concerning the practice of the church, in particular concerning the truth of the ground of the church. After Austin-Sparks left the Far East, Brother Lee spent about six months in Taiwan, where he conducted conferences and trainings on the truth concerning the church. Near the end of September he went to the Philippines and spent about a month there. At the end of October he traveled to Hong Kong again and stayed until the end of December, conducting various conferences and fellowships, many of which were to clarify the confusion concerning the truth of the church. In January 1958 he again visited the Philippines and remained there about a month before returning to Taipei via Hong Kong. In the 1957 set, volume 1 comprises Brother Lee's messages and personal notes given during his travels in Taiwan and throughout Southeast Asia, including fellowship and messages given during the visit of T. Austin-Sparks to Taiwan and Hong Kong in February and March. Volume 2 continues with Brother Lee's speaking in Taiwan on topics related to the church. Volume 3 is composed of his speaking in Manila, Philippines, and in Hong Kong from the end of September through December. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1957, volume 1, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee in January 1957 through January 1958. Historical information concerning Brother Lee's travels and the content of his ministry in 1957 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of this volume. The contents of this volume are divided into ten sections, as follows: 1. He then ministered in Anaheim until August 4, after which he traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, and conducted conferences and trainings there until September 11. Thirteen messages given in Los Angeles and previously published under the title Spiritual Applications of the Tabernacle. Messages 1 and 2 were given on December 4 and 13, 1962, and the remainder of the messages were given over the period from January 12 through February 7, 1963. Messages 12 and 13 were combined to form the final chapter. 3. Two messages given in Los Angeles on January 15 and 17. These messages are included in this volume under the title Prayer on the Ground of Christ's Ascension. 4. Two messages given in Los Angeles on January 19. These messages have been combined and published under the title The Divine Stream. 5. A series of three messages given in Los Angeles on February 3 and 10. These messages are included in this volume under the title The Key to Our Experience of Transformation--Knowing the InwardParts of Man. 6. Four messages given in Los Angeles on February 5 through 10. These messages are included in this volume under the title Highlights from the Gospel of John. The first two chapters were constructed from personal notes taken by brothers who were present in the meetings. 7. Six messages given during a conference in Reseda and Los Angeles, California, on February 12 through 17. These messages have been published under the title The Practical Way to Live in the Mingling of God with Man. No record exists for the third message. 8. Four messages given at a conference in Sacramento on February 25 through 28. These messages have been published under the title The Enjoyment of Christ for His Increase. 9. Ten messages constructed from personal notes of talks that Brother Lee gave to the leading ones during the period from January 18 through March 3 in the greater Los Angeles area. These messages are included in this volume under the title Various Times of Fellowship with the Leading Ones in Los Angeles. 10. Twelve messages given during a conference in New York City on March 8 through 31. These messages have been published under the title Experiencing the Mingling of God with Man for the Oneness of the Body of Christ. 11. One message given in New York City in March; the exact date is uncertain. This message was spoken in Chinese and translated simultaneously into English. The English translation is the basis for the English edition, included in this volume under the title The Two Spirits in the Gospel of John.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On October 5, 1959, Brother Witness Lee began a service training in Taipei, Taiwan, that ended on January 22, 1960. A follow-up training began on February 16, 1960, and lasted until April 2. During that time Brother Lee released messages on the elders' management of the church and continued his synopsis of the books of the Bible with synopses of Numbers and Deuteronomy. After the training ended on April 2, he began another training for young people on April 26, which was intended to last five weeks; however, after the second week Brother Lee became ill. He rested until June 28, at which time he began a five-day co-workers' series of meetings with about twenty brothers (see Church News in volume 1 of this set). After these meetings he held various weekly training meetings with co-workers. His speaking in these meetings included the subjects of the sufficiency, pursuit, and learning of the Lord's serving ones and the law of revival. On September 27 he left for the United States for the second time. He remained mainly in New York and conducted meetings on God's building and held a four-day conference on the ground of the church. He traveled to San Francisco on December 1. On December 5 he went to Los Angeles and stayed there until December 8, at which time he returned to the Far East, passing through Japan, where he remained from December 10 through 19. There is no record of his speaking in San Francisco or in Japan. On December 19 Brother Lee returned to Taipei and remained there until the end of the year. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1960, volume 1, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee and personal notes, letters, and reports concerning his ministry from December 1959 through November 23, 1960. Historical information concerning Brother Lee's travels and the content of his ministry in 1960 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of this volume. The contents of this volume are divided into three sections, as follows: 1. Eleven issues of the periodical Church News published in January through December 1960. These issues contain personal letters and reports written in Taipei, Taiwan, and New York City from December 1959 through November 23, 1960. They are included in this volume under the same title. 2. Thirty-five messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on February 16 through March 17, 1960, as a continuation of a previous training that ended on January 22. In 1986 Brother Lee spoke sixty-six messages that were published in The Conclusion of the New Testament. These Life-study messages are not included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. During the first few days in January Brother Lee was in Irving, Texas. He then returned to Anaheim, California, and with the exception of a brief visit to Cerritos, California, he remained in Anaheim until the beginning of March. In the first week of March Brother Lee traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, where he remained until the beginning of June. From Taipei he returned to Anaheim and was there for a few days before traveling to Irving after the third week of June. He spent about two weeks in Irving, and from there he returned to Anaheim and ministered there until the end of August. The contents of this volume are divided into seven sections, as follows: 1. A message given in Irving, Texas, on January 4, 1986. This message is included in this volume under the title Spreading the Truths in the Lord's Recovery to All of God's Children. 2. Six messages given in Anaheim, California, on January 11 through August 25, 1986. These messages are included in this volume under the title Various Elders' Meetings in Anaheim. 3. Two messages given in Anaheim, California, on January 26 and 27, 1986. These messages are included in this volume under the title Avoiding Both the Exercise of Control over the Saints and the Cultivation of Natural Affection with Them and Having Genuine Oneness in Order to Enjoy the Lord's Blessing. 4. Eight messages given in Anaheim, California, on February 17 through 19 and March 2, 1986. They were previously published in a book entitled Elders' Training, Book 7: One Accord for the Lord's Move and are included in this volume under the same title. 5. Eleven messages given in Anaheim, California, on February 19 through 22, 1986. They were previously published in a book entitled Elders' Training, Book 8: The Life Pulse of the Lord's Present Move and are included in this volume under the same title. 6. A message given in Chinese in Cerritos, California, on March 1, 1986. This message is included in this volume under the title The Center of the Bible, the Center of the Universe, and the Center of the Human Life. 7. Twenty-two messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, on March 10 through 12, April 16 through 18, and June 2, 1986; April 15 through August 13, 1987; April 20 and 21, 1988; and March 9 through 11, 1989. These messages were previously published in Chinese and English in a book entitled Three Crucial Matters for the Increase and Building Up of the Church--Begetting, Nourishing, and Teaching and are included in this volume under the same title.

The contents of this volume are divided into eleven sections, as follows: 1. Four messages given on January 9 through September 11, 1994. These messages are included in this volume under the title God Becoming Man to Make Man the Same as He Is for His Highest Testimony. Two of the messages were combined. 2. Four outlines and two messages given on February 19 and 20, 1994. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Dispensing, Transformation, and Building of the Processed Divine Trinity in the Believers and are included in this volume under the same title. 3. A personal note written on May 9, 1994. This note is included in this volume under the title A Personal Note by Witness Lee concerning the Burden of His Ministry. 4. Two messages given in Anaheim, California, on May 16 and June 25, 1994. These messages are included in this volume under the title Fellowship with Full-time Trainees. The first message was spoken in Chinese. 5. Four messages given on May 17 through 20, 1994. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The High Peak of the Vision and the Reality of the Body of Christ and are included in this volume under the same title. 6. Five messages given on May 27 through 30, 1994. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Practical Points concerning Blending and are included in this volume under the same title. 7. Nine messages given on July 3 through 9, 1994. These messages are included in this volume under the title Pre-meeting Fellowship during the Semiannual Training on the Life-study of 1 and 2 Kings. 8. Four messages given on July 8 and 9, 1994. These messages were previously published in a book entitled Living a Life according to the High Peak of God's Revelation and are included in this volume under the same title. One of the messages was divided into two chapters. 9. Twenty-seven messages given on August 24, 1994, through April 19, 1995. These messages were previously published in a book entitled Crystallization-study of the Epistle to the Romans and are included in this volume under the same title. Two of the messages were combined. 10. A message given on September 3, 1994. This message is included in this volume under the title The Best Marriage. 11. Six messages given on October 18 through 21, 1994. In 1971 Brother Lee spoke twenty-four messages that constituted The Visions of Ezekiel, which were later published in Life-study of Ezekiel. These Life-study messages are not included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. From the middle of October 1970 until the middle of January 1971, Brother Lee was in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Then he visited Manila, Philippines; Singapore; Surabaya, Indonesia; and Melbourne, Australia, before arriving in Auckland, New Zealand, on March 1. Brother Lee traveled to San Francisco on March 17 and then went to Los Angeles at the beginning of April, where he remained until the end of May. The contents of this volume are divided into six sections, as follows: 1. Ten messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in January. These messages were previously published in a book entitled Shepherding the Church and Perfecting the Young People. 2. Ten messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, from January 5 through 9. They were previously published in a book entitled The Meaning of Human Life and a Proper Consecration. 3. Three messages given in an unknown city and in Singapore from the end of January to the beginning of February. The date and place of the first message are uncertain. The last two messages were given in Singapore in February. They are part of an eight-day conference held in Singapore at the end of January and the beginning of February. The records of only two of the messages given during that conference have been located. The three messages in this section are included in this volume under the title The Abolishing of Ordinances and the Making of Peace. 4. Twelve messages given in Palmerston North, New Zealand, on March 12 through 16. These messages are included in this volume under the title Experiencing Christ for the Church as the New Man, the Body of Christ, and the Bride of Christ. 5. Five messages given in San Francisco, California, on March 19 through 21. They are included in this volume under the title Experiencing Christ for the Building Up of the Church as the Body of Christ and the New Man. 6. Seven messages given in Los Angeles, California, on April 8 through 11. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Life for the Preaching of the High Gospel.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brother Witness Lee was in Taiwan at the beginning of 1952. In the middle of January he conducted a seven-day conference in Taipei, Taiwan. We do not have a record of the messages given at this conference. Beginning on February 3, he conducted a ten-day special conference. These crucial messages are included in the section entitled Serving according to Revelation in volume 2 of the 1950-1951 set. On February 27 Brother Lee went to Manila, Philippines, and he returned to Taipei on June 17. During his time in Manila he conducted a conference on March 30 through April 4 on the subject of life and service. We do not have a record of the messages that he gave during that conference. However, we have Brother Lee's personal notes on various other meetings during his visit to Manila. They are included in the section on Brother Lee's personal notes that he made in 1952. After returning to Taiwan from Manila, Brother Lee conducted a two-week special conference beginning on July 13. The general messages are included in the section entitled Christ and the Cross in volume 1 of this set. There were also special messages for responsible ones on how to work, how to administrate the church, and how to conduct meetings. After the conference, beginning on July 28 Brother Lee conducted another two-week series of meetings on what the church is, the knowledge of the Son of God, Christ as the building material for the church, knowing the self and the natural man, the character needed for a worker of the Lord, the exercise of the spiritual life, and how to conduct meetings. These messages for the serving ones are included in the sections entitled Guidelines for the Lord's Table Meeting and the Pursuit in Life; The Crucified Christ; The Vision, Ministry, and Leading of the Lord's Serving Ones; and How to Administrate the Church, which are in volumes 1 and 2 of this set. Beginning on September 22 and ending on November 7, Brother Lee conducted a study, which took place five days a week, on the book of Romans. This study brought in a consecration of between four hundred and five hundred saints. The messages given during the study are included in the section entitled Revelations in Romans: Seeing God's Complete Salvation in volume 2 of this set. On November 12, at the conclusion of the study on Romans, a love feast was held with over two thousand in attendance. At the end of the love feast Brother Lee gave the following word: "A normal Christian must pursue equally in four things: life, truth, the gospel, and service. Most people pay attention to the first three things but neglect the last. This is why we need to make this up. We need to realize that all the services and expenses should be borne by all the saints; no one is in charge of everything or responsible for everything. All those who are called by the Lord to work for Him are in the Lord's work. Although they minister and lead in spiritual affairs and help the churches, they do not burden the churches materially. They look directly to the Lord in faith for all their needs. The Lord has cared for them." On December 10 Brother Lee left Taipei to visit Manila. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1952, volume 1, contains messages given or published by Brother Witness Lee in 1952. Historical information concerning Brother Lee's travels and the content of his ministry in 1952 can be found in the general preface that appears at the beginning of this volume. The contents of this volume are divided into five sections, as follows: 1. A collection of personal notes and diary entries written in 1952. These are included in this volume under the title Witness Lee's Personal Notes. 2. Five miscellaneous articles and reports that were originally published in the periodical The Ministry of the Word in 1952. They are included in this volume under the title The Ministry of the Word, Miscellaneous Messages, 1952. 3. Twenty-two messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in the summer of 1952. These messages originally appeared in the periodical The Ministry of the Word in 1952 and 1953. They were also previously published in a book entitled Christ and the Cross and are included in this volume under the same title. 4. Twelve messages given in a training in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1952. These messages were previously published in a book entitled Guidelines for the Lord's Table Meeting and the Pursuit in Life and are included in this volume under the same title. 5. Fourteen messages given in Taipei, Taiwan, in the summer of 1952. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Crucified Christ and are included in this volume under the same title.

A portion of this volume contains messages given in December 1963 and in March 1966. During the period from January through July, 1965, Brother Lee traveled extensively. In mid-February through mid-March he visited cities in Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Ohio. From the middle to the end of April he visited Mount Vernon, Missouri, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the end of May he traveled to South Carolina and Florida and then went on to Brazil, Peru, and Panama before returning to Los Angeles at the end of June. He also visited Sacramento, California, in mid-July and may have visited the Pacific Northwest. Regrettably, there is no record of his speaking in any of these places. At the end of July he held a weekend conference in San Francisco. The contents of this volume are divided into eleven sections, as follows: 1. Four messages given in Los Angeles, California, from January 12 through May 25. These messages are included in this volume under the title Exercising Our Gifts to Build Up the Body. 2. Fourteen messages given in Los Angeles, California, the first nine of which were given from January 23 through May 29, and the remaining five of which were given on March 15 through 24, 1966. These messages were previously published under the title The Vision, Practice, and Building Up of the Church as the Body of Christ. 3. Fourteen messages given in Los Angeles, California, from January 31 through May 18, 1965. These messages have been previously published under the title Preaching the Gospel in the Way of Life. The published book contained thirteen chapters. However, during research for The Collected Works, an additional message was discovered. This message is included in this volume as the first chapter. 4. Four messages given in Los Angeles, California, on April 9 through 11. These messages have been previously published under the title The Experience of Christ in Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. 5. Six messages given in Los Angeles, California, from January 15 through April 2. These messages are included in this volume under the title Study on Hebrews. 6. Three messages given in Los Angeles, California, on May 7 through 21. These messages are published in this volume under the title Notes on 1 Timothy. 7. Two messages given in Los Angeles, California, on July 2 and 9. These messages are included in this volume under the title Study on Titus. 8. Four messages given in San Francisco, California, on July 23 through 25. One of the messages was spoken in Chinese and translated simultaneously into English. The English translation was edited for inclusion in this section. The messages given in this conference are included in this volume under the title Summer Conference in San Francisco. 9. One message that first appeared as an article in volume 3, number 1 of The Stream magazine in May 1965. The date and place of the original spoken message are uncertain. This message was previously published under the title The Baptism in the Holy Spirit. 10. One message that was first published as an article in volume 4, number 2 of The Stream magazine in May 1966. There is some evidence that it was spoken in Los Angeles, California, in the summer of 1965. The original article was later revised and published as a booklet entitled The Vision of the Church in 1968. This booklet is included in this volume under the same title. 11. Two messages given in Los Angeles, California, on December 24 and 26, 1963. The two messages were published in 1994 as chapters 4 and 6 of The Life and Way for the Practice of the Church Life, which is included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1963, volume 4. They first appeared in May 1965 in a slightly different form as a two-part article entitled The All-inclusive Spirit of Christ in volume 3, number 1 of The Stream magazine. The original article was later revised and printed as a booklet under the same title in 1969. This booklet, including the four diagrams that do not appear elsewhere, is included in this volume under the same title.

One message included in this volume was given in 1991. In 1984 Brother Lee spoke eighty-two messages that were published in Life-study of Mark, Life-study of Luke, and Life-study of Acts. These Life-study messages are not included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. After spending the first few days of 1984 in Irving, Texas, Brother Lee returned to Anaheim, California, and remained there until the end of February. He then traveled to Brazil and spent most of March ministering there. At the end of March he returned from Brazil to Anaheim and remained there until the middle of April. During the last two weeks in April, Brother Lee traveled to Stuttgart, Germany, and on his return to the United States he visited New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Newton, Massachusetts, during the month of May. At the end of May he ministered in Irving, and in the first few days in June he visited Denver, Colorado. At the end of June Brother Lee returned to Anaheim and remained there until the first week in October. From the middle of October until the middle of November, Brother Lee traveled to the Far East and ministered in Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Taipei, Taiwan; and Quezon City, Philippines. He returned to Anaheim for a few days in the middle of November, and near the end of November he traveled to Irving, where he remained until the end of the year. The contents of this volume are divided into fifteen sections, as follows: 1. Four messages given in Irving, Texas, on January 1 and December 2, 8, and 16. These messages are included in this volume under the title Miscellaneous Messages Given in Irving. 2. Two messages given in Anaheim, California, on January 7 and 14. These messages are included in this volume under the title Living Christ and Pursuing the Truth for the Building Up of the Church. 3. Five messages given in Anaheim, California, on January 8 through March 25. These messages are included in this volume under the title Being Built Up in the Truth and Growing in Life for the Spread of the Lord's Testimony. 4. Five messages given in Anaheim, California, on January 16 through November 19. These messages are included in this volume under the title Bringing the Saints into the Lord's Up-to-date Vision and Move in His Recovery. 5. Ten messages given in Anaheim, California, on February 3 through August 18, 1984, and in Alhambra, California, on April 21, 1991. These messages were translated from Chinese and previously published in a book entitled The Four Crucial Elements of the Bible--Christ, the Spirit, Life, and the Church. They are included in this volume under the same title. 6. A message given to a group of co-workers from Taiwan in Anaheim, California, on February 20, 1984. This message was translated from Chinese and has been included in this volume under the title Finding Principles in Our Study of the Bible and the Subjective Line of Life in the Bible. 7. This message is included in this volume under the title Christ as the Embodiment of God Becoming the Consummation of the Triune God and Our Attitude toward the Believers. 11. A message given in Newton, Massachusetts, on May 10. This message is included in this volume under the title Ministering the Truth, Life, and the Gospel to All Men. 12. Four messages given in a Chinese-speaking conference in New York City on May 11 through 13. They were previously published in a book entitled Christ Revealed in the New Testament and are included in this volume under the same title. 13. A message given in Irving, Texas, on May 28. This message is included in this volume under the title A Word of Recommendation concerning the Life-study Messages and the Footnotes in the New Testament Recovery Version. 14. Five messages given in Denver, Colorado, on June 2 and 3. The records for two of these messages are missing.
