Book Test Procedure for the Measurement of Gaseous Exhaust Emissions from Small Utility Engines

Download or read book Test Procedure for the Measurement of Gaseous Exhaust Emissions from Small Utility Engines written by Small Engine and Powered Equipment Committee and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice specifies a uniform procedure forthe evaluation of gaseous exhaust emissions from small utilityengines typically less than 20 kW. Details of engine test setup andexhaust gas analysis techniques are specified with the intent ofproviding a uniform and reproducible method of measurement. The intent has been to allow as much flexibility as possible inthe physical construction of the experimental apparatus. Therefore, only those portions of the apparatus whose operation is critical tothe accurate measurement of emissions levels are prescribed indetail. An engine test procedure including a test sequence is outlinedsuch that it would cover the various applications in which smallengines are used. The intent is to provide an understanding of thelevels of exhaust emissions and does not imply that in givenapplication, an engine would operate in all the modes outlined inthe test procedure. This document is intended as a guide toward standard practiceand is subject to change to keep pace with experience and technicaladvances. The Committee feels J1088 is no longer applicable (permissible) in several countries throughout the world where unique exhaust gas emissions and testing procedures are now regulated by government agencies, including the United States (US EPA, CARB), Canada, China as well as the countries of the European Union.

Book Automobile Exhaust Emission Testing

Download or read book Automobile Exhaust Emission Testing written by H. Klingenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Differing legislation between the countries or unions of countries involved in pollution reduction has turned gas measuring technology into such an extremely extensive and complex field that only a few specialists in environmental agencies and the automobile industry have a grasp of it. This book is intended as an overview of the basics of exhaust gas measuring technology describing the interrelation between emissions, immissions and the effects of pollutants. It aims to provide experts and students alike with an understanding of the interrelationships and details within this field. The results presented are based on the experience gathered by the author during work spanning more than two decades in the automobile industry.

Book INSTRUMENTATION AND TECHNIQUES FOR EXHAUST GAS EMISSIONS MEASUREMENT

Download or read book INSTRUMENTATION AND TECHNIQUES FOR EXHAUST GAS EMISSIONS MEASUREMENT written by SAE IC Powertrain Steering Committee and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This SAE Recommended Practice establishes uniform laboratory techniques for the continuous and bag-sample measurement of various constituents in the exhaust gas of the gasoline engines installed in passenger cars and light-duty trucks. The report concentrates on the measurement of the following components in exhaust gas: hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), oxygen (O2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx). NOx is the sum of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Historical techniques still used for some purposes are included in the Appendices. A complete procedure for testing vehicles may be found in SAE Recommended Practice J1094, Constant Volume Sampler System for Exhaust Emissions Measurement. This recommended practice includes the following sections: (1)Introduction (2)Definitions and Terminology (3)Emissions Sampling Systems (4)Emissions Analyzers (5)Data Analysis and Reduction (6)Associated Test Equipment (7)Test Procedures (8)Appendices A, B, and C.

Book AIRCRAFT GAS TURBINE ENGINE EXHAUST SMOKE MEASUREMENT

Download or read book AIRCRAFT GAS TURBINE ENGINE EXHAUST SMOKE MEASUREMENT written by E31Aircraft Engine Gas and Particulate Emissions Measurement and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) standardizes test equipment and procedures for the measurement of smoke emission from aircraft gas turbine engines. The procedures included are for determining and reporting the amount of smoke emission. Tests have indicated that the practically achieveable precision of the smoke number is within ±3 when the system is properly used as outlined herein. This procedure is not intended for in-flight testing, nor does it apply to engines operating in the afterburning mode.

Book Working Details of a Gas Engine Test Including a Method of Determining the Temperatures of Exhaust Gases

Download or read book Working Details of a Gas Engine Test Including a Method of Determining the Temperatures of Exhaust Gases written by Robert Heywood Fernald and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-17 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Working Details of a Gas Engine Test Including a Method of Determining the Temperatures of Exhaust Gases The work embodied in the following pages is but a small beginning toward the development of an investigation of some importance to the engineering and commercial world - the standardization of methods of comparison of gas engines. With the heterogeneous collection of gas and oil engines thrown upon the market to-day, some method of standardization is very essential, but the problem is one of too great magnitude to be completed in the brief period of one college year, and it is the hope of the writer that some one may take up the work where it has been dropped. The general scheme, as roughly outlined, is 1. The history and development of the explosive engine. 2. The gas engine of to-day, and a comparison of existing engines, resulting in a classification into types and a study of these, including: (a) A complete bibliography of the subject, together with a list of patents granted, both in this country and abroad. 3. An investigation of the physical and mathematical problems involved, both quantitative and qualitative. 4. A complete and detailed method of testing explosive engines, leading to (a) A criticism of points of design and construction and suggested improvements, based upon information obtained through 2 and 3. 5. General conclusions derived from the tests and observation, coupled with a comparison of the explosive engine with certain types of non-explosive engines. The historical section has been fairly well developed by previous investigators. It is seen at once that sections 2, 3 and 4 are to a certain extent interdependent and that a thorough investigation of one involves certain information obtained from the others.
