Rudy and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The alloy system tantalum-carbon was investigated by means of X-ray, DTA, and melting point techniques on heat-treated and chemically analyzed alloys; a complete phase diagram was established. Analogously to the findings in the Ta-C systems, a previously unknown phase reaction of the Nb2C phase was found to occur at high temperatures. The melting temperatures of the monocarbide phase and the NbC-C eutectic reaction isotherm were redetermined. The alpha- beta-Me2C-phase reaction could not be found in the vanadium-carbon system.

Book Ultra High Temperature Materials II

Download or read book Ultra High Temperature Materials II written by Igor L. Shabalin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-24 with total page 755 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exhaustive work in three volumes and over 1300 pages provides a thorough treatment of ultra-high temperature materials with melting points over 2500 °C. The first volume focuses on Carbon and Refractory Metals, whilst the second and third are dedicated solely to Refractory compounds and the third to Refractory Alloys and Composites respectively. Topics included are physical (crystallographic, thermodynamic, thermo physical, electrical, optical, physico-mechanical, nuclear) and chemical (solid-state diffusion, interaction with chemical elements and compounds, interaction with gases, vapours and aqueous solutions) properties of the individual physico-chemical phases of carbon (graphite/graphene), refractory metals (W, Re, Os, Ta, Mo, Nb, Ir) and compounds (oxides, nitrides, carbides, borides, silicides) with melting points in this range. It will be of interest to researchers, engineers, postgraduate, graduate and undergraduate students alike. The reader is provided with the full qualitative and quantitative assessment for the materials, which could be applied in various engineering devices and environmental conditions at ultra-high temperatures, on the basis of the latest updates in the field of physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering.

Book Ternary Phase Equilibria in Transition Metal Boron Carbon Silicon Systems Part 1 Related Binary Systems Volume 1 Mo C System

Download or read book Ternary Phase Equilibria in Transition Metal Boron Carbon Silicon Systems Part 1 Related Binary Systems Volume 1 Mo C System written by and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A complete phase diagram of the system molybdenum-carbon is presented. A thermodynamic model for the description of the phase separations of the Me2C phases in transition metal-carbon systems has been developed and was semiquantitatively applied to Mo2C. Literature data on thermodynamic properties of molybdenum carbides have been critically evaluated and data were selected. Apparative techniques for the precise study of phase reactions at high temperatures are described.

Book Ternary Phase Equilibria in Transition Metal boron carbon silicon Systems Part 2 Ternary Systems Vol 1 Ta hf c System

Download or read book Ternary Phase Equilibria in Transition Metal boron carbon silicon Systems Part 2 Ternary Systems Vol 1 Ta hf c System written by E. Rudy and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ternary alloy system tantalum-hafnium-carbon was investigated by means of X-ray, DTA, melting point, and metallographic techniques on chemically analyzed alloys, and a complete phase diagram for temperature above 1000 deg C was established. The system is characterized by a very high melting solid solution of the refractory monocarbides in both binary systems, and a limited exchange of hafnium in the low- and high-temperature modification of Ta2C. Four Class II four-phase reaction planes as well as three limiting tie lines occur in the concentration area metal-monocarbide solution. The results of this investigation are discussed and compared with previous, partial investigations of this system. Fields of application are outlined.

Book Ternary Phase Equilibria in Transition Metal boron carbon silicon Systems Part I Binary Systems Volume Xii Revision of the Vanadium carbon and Niobium carbon Systems

Download or read book Ternary Phase Equilibria in Transition Metal boron carbon silicon Systems Part I Binary Systems Volume Xii Revision of the Vanadium carbon and Niobium carbon Systems written by Erwin Rudy and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The binary systems vanadium-carbon and niobium-carbon were reinvestigated by means of X-ray, melting point, DTA, and metallographic techniques on chemically and thermally characterized specimens; revised phase diagrams for both binary systems are given. In addition, recent investigations have also shown that some of the intermediate phases exhibit a more complex thermal behavior than previously anticipated. Thus, for example, the thermodynamic evaluation of the equilibria in ternary metal-carbon systems pointed to the existence of sublattice order-disorder transformations in the Me2C phases. These indications have, in the meantime, been confirmed experimentally by X ray and differential-thermoanalytical means.
