Download or read book Analysis III written by Roger Godement and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-04 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume III sets out classical Cauchy theory. It is much more geared towards its innumerable applications than towards a more or less complete theory of analytic functions. Cauchy-type curvilinear integrals are then shown to generalize to any number of real variables (differential forms, Stokes-type formulas). The fundamentals of the theory of manifolds are then presented, mainly to provide the reader with a "canonical'' language and with some important theorems (change of variables in integration, differential equations). A final chapter shows how these theorems can be used to construct the compact Riemann surface of an algebraic function, a subject that is rarely addressed in the general literature though it only requires elementary techniques. Besides the Lebesgue integral, Volume IV will set out a piece of specialized mathematics towards which the entire content of the previous volumes will converge: Jacobi, Riemann, Dedekind series and infinite products, elliptic functions, classical theory of modular functions and its modern version using the structure of the Lie algebra of SL(2,R).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this modern treatment of the topic, Rolland Trapp presents an accessible introduction to the topic of multivariable calculus, supplemented by the use of fully interactive three-dimensional graphics throughout the text. Multivariable Calculus opens with an introduction to points, curves and surfaces, easing student transitions from two- to three-dimensions, and concludes with the main theorems of vector calculus. All standard topics of multivariable calculus are covered in between, including a variety of applications within the physical sciences. The exposition combines rigor and intuition, resulting in a well-rounded resource for students of the subject. In addition, the interactive three-dimensional graphics, accessible through the electronic text or via the companion website, enhance student understanding while improving their acuity. The style of composition, sequencing of subjects, and interactive graphics combine to form a useful text that appeals to a broad audience: students in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics alike.

Book Invitation to Linear Programming and Game Theory

Download or read book Invitation to Linear Programming and Game Theory written by David C. Vella and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-03-11 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in a conversational tone, this classroom-tested text introduces the fundamentals of linear programming and game theory, showing readers how to apply serious mathematics to practical real-life questions by modelling linear optimization problems and strategic games. The treatment of linear programming includes two distinct graphical methods. The game theory chapters include a novel proof of the minimax theorem for 2x2 zero-sum games. In addition to zero-sum games, the text presents variable-sum games, ordinal games, and n-player games as the natural result of relaxing or modifying the assumptions of zero-sum games. All concepts and techniques are derived from motivating examples, building in complexity, which encourages students to think creatively and leads them to understand how the mathematics is applied. With no prerequisite besides high school algebra, the text will be useful to motivated high school students and undergraduates studying business, economics, mathematics, and the social sciences.
