Book El orden social en la posmodernidad

Download or read book El orden social en la posmodernidad written by Enrique Carretero Pasín and published by Erasmus Ediciones. This book was released on 2012-03-28 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ESTE LIBRO EXPLICA CON PROSA CLARA CÓMO SE LEGITIMA HOY EL ORDEN SOCIAL Y ARROJA UNA MIRADA INNOVADORA PARA ENTENDER LAS IDEOLOGÍAS EN LA SOCIEDAD ACTUAL.

Book Changing Structures of Inequality

Download or read book Changing Structures of Inequality written by Yannick Lemel and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 2002 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The international sociological community has engaged recently in a controversial discussion on social inequality. There is a vigourous debate on whether the traditional concepts of social class and social stratification are still useful. Some researchers argue that social classes still offer a key explanation to social inequalities while others challenge the long-standing tradition of class analysis. New approaches have been proposed to describe recent social changes in the stratification system: vanishing middle class, two-thirds societies, cosmographic inequality, and classless society, among others.

Book Marxism Social Movements and Collective Action

Download or read book Marxism Social Movements and Collective Action written by Adrián Piva and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-12-13 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book makes a relevant contribution to a Marxist critical explanation of social conflicts, social movements and protests. There is abundant literature on social conflict and social movements from Marxist perspectives. However, rigorous criticism, both theoretical and methodological, is scarce. The objective of this volume is the collection of works developing a critical reflection on the categories of theories about contentious collective action and social movements from a Marxist perspective. In order to better understand these phenomena and go beyond their mere case description, the theory needs to be improved. To that end, the book also promotes the debate between Marxisms and the collective action and new social movements in a renewed way. Here different Marxist arguments consider not only their methodological and ideological bias, but also the specific conceptual contributions of those theories.

Book The Antagonistic Principle

Download or read book The Antagonistic Principle written by Massimo Modonesi and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-11-05 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this important contribution to political theory, Massimo Modonesi develops the thesis that a Marxist theory of political action can be developed from the notion of antagonism, defined as a distinctive feature of struggle and of the political experience of insubordination. The author argues this central idea with close reference to the concept of class struggle. He advances a theoretical proposal based on the triad subalternity-antagonism-autonomy, as well as the uneven and combined character of the processes of political subjectification. At the center of this triad, the concept of antagonism stands out as a logical principle and the core of a Marxist theory of political action. At the same time, subalternism reappears frequently, as the counter-pole of antagonistic activation and autonomous practices, and as the root of what Antonio Gramsci calls ‘passive revolutions’.

Book Marxismo norteamericano American Marxism Spanish Edition

Download or read book Marxismo norteamericano American Marxism Spanish Edition written by Mark R. Levin and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-08-02 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Political Thought of John Holloway

Download or read book The Political Thought of John Holloway written by Alfonso García Vela and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-17 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides renewed reflection and critical discussion on John Holloway's political and theoretical thought. Two decades ago, in Change the World without Taking Power, Holloway set out on a path that he followed a decade later in Crack Capitalism and continues to walk today with his new book, Hope in Hopeless Times. The contributions in this volume critically analyze his innovative attempt to rethink the meaning and dynamics of revolution in the conditions of contemporary capitalism. More than ten years after the publication of Crack Capitalism, this volume aims to question Holloway's attempt, as well as his theoretical foundations in his original rereading of Marxism and Critical Theory and their relations with the characteristics adopted by the anti-capitalist struggles during the last two decades. Its authors, from different geographies, traditions, and scientific disciplines, establish throughout its pages a fruitful dialogue convened by Holloway's innovative ideas.

This book was released on 2008-10-29 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Accumulation and Subjectivity

Download or read book Accumulation and Subjectivity written by Karen Benezra and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2022-03-01 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1970s, sociocultural analysis in Latin American studies has been marked by a turn away from problems of political economy. Accumulation and Subjectivity challenges this turn while reconceptualizing the relationship between political economy and the life of the subject. The fourteen essays in this volume show that, in order to understand the dynamics governing the extraction of wealth under contemporary capitalism, we also need to consider the collective subjects implied in this operation at an institutional, juridical, moral, and psychic level. More than merely setting the scene for social and political struggle, Accumulation and Subjectivity reveals Latin America to be a cauldron for thought for a critique of political economy and radical political change beyond its borders. Combining reflections on political philosophy, intellectual history, narrative, law, and film from the colonial period to the present, it provides a new conceptual vocabulary rooted in the material specificity of the region and, for this very reason, potentially translatable to other historical contexts. This collection will be of interest to scholars of Marxism, Latin American literary and cultural studies, and the intellectual history of the left.

Book Beautiful Flowers of the Maquiladora

Download or read book Beautiful Flowers of the Maquiladora written by Norma Iglesias Prieto and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2010-07-05 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published originally as La flor mas bella de la maquiladora, this beautifully written book is based on interviews the author conducted with more than fifty Mexican women who work in the assembly plants along the U.S.-Mexico border. A descriptive analytic study conducted in the late 1970s, the book uses compelling testimonials to detail the struggles these women face. The experiences of women in maquiladoras are attracting increasing attention from scholars, especially in the context of ongoing Mexican migration to the country's northern frontier and in light of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This book is among the earliest accounts of the physical and psychological toll exacted from the women who labor in these plants. Iglesias Prieto captures the idioms of these working women so that they emerge as dynamic individuals, young and articulate personalities, inexorably engaged in the daily struggle to change the fundamental conditions of their exploitation.

Book Marx for Our Times

Download or read book Marx for Our Times written by Daniel Bensaïd and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2020-05-05 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The end of Soviet Socialism signalled to some observers that the ghost of Marx had finally been laid to rest. But history's refusal to grind to a halt and the global credit crisis that began in 2008 have rekindled interest in capitalism's most persistent critic. Written during the mid-nineties, a period of Western complacency and neo-liberal reaction, Marx for Our Times is a critical reading of dialectical materialism as a method of resistance. Without denying the contradictory character of Marx's thought, and with a sensitivity to the plurality of theories it has inspired, Daniel Bensaid sets out to discover what in Marx remains dynamic and relevant in our era of accelerating economic change. Marx's theory emerges, not as a doctrinal system, but as an intellectual tool of social struggle and global transformation in a world where capital continues to dominate social relations.
