Book Progress Toward Development of Civil Airworthiness Criteria for Powered Lift Aircraft

Download or read book Progress Toward Development of Civil Airworthiness Criteria for Powered Lift Aircraft written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes the results of a joint NASA-FAA research program directed toward development of civil airworthiness flight-criteria for power-lift transports. Tentative criteria are proposed for performance and handling characteristics for powered-lift transport aircraft in commercial service. The aircraft considered are primarily wing-supported vehicles which rely upon the propulsion system for a significant portion of lift and control. VTOL aircraft are excluded. The flight criteria treat primarily the approach and landing flight phases, because it is in these flight phases that the greatest use of powered lift is made, and the greatest differences from conventional aircraft tend to appear. Consequently, the flight task tends to become most demanding. The tentative criteria are based on simulation and flight experience with a variety of powered-lift concepts. These concepts have not employed flight director, advanced displays, or advanced augmentation systems. The tentative criteria proposed were formulated by a working group comprised of representatives of the U.S., British, French, and Canadian airworthiness authorities, as well as research personnel of the NASA and other organizations. It is recognized that more work is needed to assure general applicability of the critera. (Author).

Book Airworthiness An Introduction to Aircraft Certification

Download or read book Airworthiness An Introduction to Aircraft Certification written by Filippo De Florio and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-08-30 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understanding airworthiness is central to maintaining and operating aircraft safely. While no book can replace the published FAR/JAR documentation for airworthiness, this unique guide provides readers with a single reference to understanding and interpreting the airworthiness requirements of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), FAA (the US Federal Aviation Authority) and EASA (European Aircraft Safety Agency). Setting these requirements in a real-world context, the book is an essential contribution to the safety management system of anyone involved in the design, maintenance and operation of aircraft for business or pleasure.Key topics covered include: • Considerations of airworthiness standards for all classes, including large and small aircraft, rotor craft, gliders and unmanned aircraft• JAR/FAR 21 • Type certification of aircraft, engines, and propellers and the type certification process• Parts and appliances approval • Joint certifications and national certifications • Special classes of certificates of airworthiness • Airworthiness and flight operations*The only airworthiness guide available: a real contribution to understanding flight safety*Covers European and US requirements and helps anyone involved in the manufacture, flying and maintenance of aircraft to understand this complex yet essential topic*No aircraft can fly without the correct certificate of airworthiness

Book A STOL Airworthiness Investigation Using a Simulation of an Augmentor Wing Transport Volume 1 Summary of Results and Airworthiness Implications

Download or read book A STOL Airworthiness Investigation Using a Simulation of an Augmentor Wing Transport Volume 1 Summary of Results and Airworthiness Implications written by and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A simulator study of STOL airworthiness criteria was conducted using a model of an augmentor wing transport. This study covered the approach, flare and landing, go-around, and takeoff phases of flight. The two volumes of this report document the results of that investigation. Volume One summarizes the results and discusses possible implications with regard to airworthiness criteria. The results provide a data base for future STOL airworthiness requirements and a preliminary indication of potential problem areas. The results are also compared to the results from an earlier simulation of the Breguet 941S. Where possible, airworthiness criteria are proposed for consideration.

Book Harmonization of Airworthiness Standards Miscellaneous Structures Requirements Us Federal Aviation Administration Regulation Faa 2018 Edition

Download or read book Harmonization of Airworthiness Standards Miscellaneous Structures Requirements Us Federal Aviation Administration Regulation Faa 2018 Edition written by The Law The Law Library and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-09-14 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Harmonization of Airworthiness Standards-Miscellaneous Structures Requirements (US Federal Aviation Administration Regulation) (FAA) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Harmonization of Airworthiness Standards-Miscellaneous Structures Requirements (US Federal Aviation Administration Regulation) (FAA) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 This final rule amends certain airworthiness regulations for transport category airplanes, based on recommendations from the FAA-sponsored Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC). This amendment eliminates regulatory differences between the airworthiness standards of the FAA and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This final rule does not add new requirements beyond what manufacturers currently meet for EASA certification and does not affect current industry design practices. This final rule revises the structural test requirements necessary when analysis has not been found reliable; clarifies the quality control, inspection, and testing requirements for critical and non-critical castings; adds control system requirements that consider structural deflection and vibration loads; expands the fuel tank structural and system requirements regarding emergency landing conditions and landing gear failure conditions; adds a requirement that engine mount failure due to overload must not cause hazardous fuel spillage; and revises the inertia forces requirements for cargo compartments by removing the exclusion of compartments located below or forward of all occupants in the airplane. This book contains: - The complete text of the Harmonization of Airworthiness Standards-Miscellaneous Structures Requirements (US Federal Aviation Administration Regulation) (FAA) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section
