Book Properties of Aluminum Alloys

Download or read book Properties of Aluminum Alloys written by John Gilbert Kaufman and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compilation of data collected and maintained for many years as the property of a large aluminum company, which decided in 1997 to make it available to other engineers and materials specialists. In tabular form, presents data on the tensile and creep properties of eight species of wrought alloys and five species of cast alloys in the various shapes used in applications. Then looks at the fatigue data for several alloys under a range of conditions and loads. The data represent the typical or average findings, and though some were developed years ago, the collection is the largest and most detailed available. There is no index.

Book Investigation of the Effects of Rapid Loading and Elevated Temperatures on the Mechanical Properties of Compressive and Column Members

Download or read book Investigation of the Effects of Rapid Loading and Elevated Temperatures on the Mechanical Properties of Compressive and Column Members written by P. R. Dioguardo and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Short time tensile and compressive properties were evaluated for Rene' 41 and Haynes 25 sheet alloys at room temperature and 800 to 2200 F. Tests conducted at various strain rates (0.00001 to 0.1 in./in.sec) produced significant differences in strength, particularly at elevated temperatures. Creep properties, both tensile and compressive, were determined for the same alloys at temperatures of 1600 to 2200 F and times up to 15 minutes. At the higher stress levels, creep rates became very rapid and considerable amounts of plastic strain occurred in times of 1 sec or less. A preliminary study was conducted on the use of programmed, forced strain rate tests to predict short time creep properties.

Book Room Temperature Tensile Properties of Large 7075 T6 and 7075 T73 Aluminum alloy Forgings

Download or read book Room Temperature Tensile Properties of Large 7075 T6 and 7075 T73 Aluminum alloy Forgings written by D. P. Moon and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Room-temperature tensile properties were determined for large 7075-T6 and 7075-T73 aluminum-alloy forgings. Forging sizes ranged from about 1.5 to 15 inches (short-transverse direction) for production forgings and up to 20 inches for step forgings. Heat-treated thickness was 0.75 to 1.000 inch for the T6 temper but ranged up to 10 inches for the T73 temper. Regression coefficients and standard d deviations are presented for three properties (TUS, TYS, and elongation) in each of three test directions. In addition, average values and two statistical minima are tabulated for each property and test direction at each of several discrete sizes, and a comparison is made with the corresponding requirements of Specification MIL-A-22771C(ASG). Book Elevated Temperature Properties of Cast Aluminum Alloys A201 T7 and A357 T6

Download or read book Elevated Temperature Properties of Cast Aluminum Alloys A201 T7 and A357 T6 written by J. D. Tirpak and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tensile, fatigue, fracture toughness, and fatigue crack growth properties of cast aluminum alloys A201-T7 and A357-T6 were evaluated at 250 F and 400 F. The tensile strength of A201-T7 decreased slightly at 250 F and dropped markedly at 400 F. The A201-T7 elongation increased as temperature increased. The tensile strength of A357-T6 decreased as test temperature increased. A357-T6 ductility increased then decreased as temperature increased. Valid fracture toughness values were difficult to obtain for both alloys. A201- T7 had an average K sub Ic of 22.3 ksi in at 250 F and an average K sub Q of 25. 0 ksi in at 400 F. For A357-T6 K sub Q values were 27.5 ksi in and 18.1 ksi in at 250 F and 400 F, respectively. Constant load amplitude fatigue strength decreased for both alloys. At low Ks, fatigue crack growth resistance decreased as test temperature increased.
