Book Tell Your Heart to Beat Again

Download or read book Tell Your Heart to Beat Again written by Joanne Ellison and published by . This book was released on 2016-03-10 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is time for the church to wake up, rise up, and grow up in His Word. We have flat lined, and our hearts have lost hope and become discouraged. We've been lulled to sleep, but it's now timeto hear a new song in our hearts. I liken what has happened to the church to a loaded potato. Over the years the baked potato has undergone quite a transition, from a simple baked tuber to whatis now known as the "fully loaded potato." To be "fully loaded" requires adding ingredients to the potato-sour cream, chives, cheese, bacon, and anything else you can think of that would enhance the flavor... As I pondered writing this book, I realized that our Christian lives could become like the overloaded potato. The original flavor or authenticity of the life of Christ in us becomes lost in the muddle of activity and pressure of life. If you were to order a loaded potato and say, "Loaded potato, please-but hold the potato?" We would be left with the accessories but not the coreingredient. We can make the same mistake in the Christian life: "Give me Jesus plus-perfect relationships, more money, more time, more joy, less fear and anxiety." What happened to simply "Give me Jesus"? He is the main ingredient, the One who is the Source of life, hope, peace, and joy.

The rhythm of the drumbeat is meant to reach and move the entire community. Songs accompanying the drumbeat are usually composed in simple language, understandable and even familiar to the community. Book Only God

Book excerpt: I was once a pastor of a successful church that grew and grew. At one point in time, it was the fastest growing church in the city where I was. Hundreds came to Christ or returned to him and I had many friends. Then the bottom fell out of my life and I lost everything. I lost my marriage, my church, and all my friends. I walked around numb for months, trying to make sense of it all. But God knew my heart was his and he gave me a fresh start. He sent me the most amazing woman to stand at my side. Together, we went on a journey that is nothing short of miraculous and amazing. There were also many struggles and tears, as well as many sleepless nights. We endured much opposition and persecution. At one point, my wife died in my arms. When I cried out to God, he sent her back. Through it all, God was faithful. He can even raise the dead! Our story is one of relentless faith in God and his ability to do anything. It will make you laugh and probably cry. You will almost certainly shake your head in disbelief and find yourself praising God. Most of all, we hope that you will be like us and find yourself saying, “Only God!” To Him be all the glory. Book Undefeated Innocence

Download or read book Undefeated Innocence written by Cheryl Crofoot Knapp and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you wonder where God is in Alzheimer's? Are you searching for hope in caregiving? I searched too--I lost both of my parents to Alzheimer's. They were its innocent victims. Caregiving for someone with Alzheimer's can be painfully brutal. We know how it ends. There is no cure. It doesn't get better. But I learned that we don't have to be defeated by it. And there is much grace and collateral beauty to be found in the journey. From broken memories to broken bones, Alzheimers catalyzed terror and defeat in my family. My parents were terrorized by the scrambling of their minds. We who loved them had to suffocate our feelings of defeat as they returned to innocence. As a caregiver, God allowed me to share in my parents passages back to undefeated innocence. I gained loving moments that I would have missed if I hadnt been involved and if I hadnt taken up the proper vantage point to see them. Undefeated Innocence offers hope to caregivers by weaving poignant personal experiences, humor, and biblical stories with a study of the Beatitudes. It answers Where is God? in Alzheimers. It confirms that caregiving experiences are abnormally normal, and its okay to store toothpaste in an underwear drawer. Undefeated Innocence reveals Gods grace through the storms and affirms that caregivers are not alone in wondering if life can return to a place of peace.

Book excerpt: If youre looking for a feel good read, Outside the Camp is not it. If you want joy without lament, grace without sin, light without darkness or love without pain, read something else. In fact, the wince factor of this book is through the roof, and I thought someone ought to warn you. But if you want to read something that is profoundly and Biblically true, revolutionary and life-changing, this is it. Garth has given Gods people a wonderful gift, and I rise up and call him blessed. You will, too! Steve Brown, professor, author, radio show host, and leader of Key Life Network I have more thoughts, emotions, and places your story took me than I am able to capture. I had to let you know that the Lord has deeply impacted me through your book. Thank you. Jim Amandus, Senior Pastor at Highlands Community Church near Seattle Outside the Camp tells the story of a former pastors journey through a season of turmoil and personal failure. The story of his decade of disillusionment sets the context for his observations as a church outsider in regards to how evangelical churches often fail in response to the wounded, the outcasts, and the sinners in their midst. Offered in the form of Biblical lament, three concerns are addressed: the evangelical church does not truly offeror even fully understandthe gospel of grace it preaches, instead suggesting that believers need to try harder and do more to prove themselves worthy of Gods favor, the faith community is artificial rather than authentic, and too often the wounds of its soldiers are left unattended, people whose pain is too deep and complex for the church to easily comprehend are referred outside the church for the help they need to survive, or they are simply neglected. The book concludes with a consideration of Gods intent to restore sinners by offering grace that is full and free, with a call for the church to once again communicate the unadulterated gospel to all who need its healing balm.
