Book excerpt: There is clearly a growing interest among teenagers in all things magical and difficult to explain. The theme of good and evil is prominent, as is the need to feel a being of some kind is watching out for you and keeping you from harm. Following the huge success of Glennyce Eckersley's previous books, such as An Angel At My Shoulder and Saved By The Angels, she is now turning her attention to stories of teenagers seeing angels and other psychic phenomenon. These include angels appearing in mysterious circumstances, hearing music without being able to trace where it's coming from; angels in nature; encounters of angels by teenagers from other countries; examples of teenagers hearing an 'inner voice' which guided them through adversity, and many more. Full of intriguing stories and spine-tingling tales, this book is sure to set every teenager's teeth on edge, make their hair stand on end - and warm their hearts.

The assailant, a mysterious tall man, also goes after her. With the help of a police detective, she goes into hiding. Initially, she thinks that her pursuer wants her because of something her husband was doing. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Beyond Championships Teen Edition, Coach Dru Joyce lays out the steps teens can follow to become winners on and off the court. Much more than a sports book, Beyond Championships Teen Edition is a blueprint for anyone looking to make better choices and reach their full potential. The book speaks to athletes aspiring to emulate LeBron’s success, as well as anyone who feels either uninspired or unable to change the direction of their lives. In less than ten years, Coach Dru went from someone resigned to a dull-yet-stable existence to one of the highest profile basketball coaches in the country, despite having virtually no background in the sport. It was an incredible transformation, the type most people only dream of, but one Coach Dru proved can become a reality with the right combination of faith and hard work. Beyond Championships Teen Edition focuses on the nine principles Coach Dru promotes to his players and tries to live his own life. While these principles act as the foundation on which Coach Dru has built so many successful basketball teams, their universality ensures that they can be applied to any situation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our world is under serious threat. Not from supervillains or alien invaders, but from monsters of our own making- climate change, environmental degradation, and the growing inequality between the haves and have-nots. The world certainly looks messed up, but it can be saved. Not by caped crusaders or celluloid superheroes, but by us. Ordinary teenagers can do extraordinary things to make our world better, and this book shares the inspiring stories of many such heroes, along with simple, practical tips on how we can all roll up our sleeves and help make a difference. How we can help bring to life what many see as the solution to the problems we face- making the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals come to life. I’m not an eminent expert or grey-haired academic, just a teenager who believes that we can all do our bit to make a difference, a teenager who believes we can all be heroes. All it takes is for us to step up and do our bit to save our world. The world we will inherit as adults.

Download or read book Tall Texas Teen Tales written by John Chas. Gibson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-03-25 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a poor kid growing up, it was a challenge to have fun and not cost much, if anything. This book is specifically designed to let everybody know that fun doesnt have a price tag on it if an imagination and a warped sense of humor is part of the equation. Anybody can have a ton of fun, and make lifelong memories without getting into too much trouble. O.K. some of these stories are stretched to the borders of reality, but.................so what? Put yourself in the 60s and remember some of the stuff you pulled. As we go through the elementary school years, then junior high and high school, the fun gets more sophisticated. This will not be done though without having the goofy and stupid element ever present. If the warped sense of humor offends you in anyway, please accept this apology, and consider the source. The magic of the 1960s along with a small West Texas group of kids is an experience. Please consider the times compared to todays technology, and society. Back then, parents were to be loved, respected and feared, Nowadays, nobody knows the difference from beating a kid, and spanking a kid. What a shame. Also, there is a section about some of the cars back then. the 50s and 60s was the absolute pinnacle of power and beautiful design. Without the 60s, the muscle cars of the 70s would not have been born. Without the 60s, our music of the 70s and future decades would not have the roots to grow. Hippies, draft dodgers, moon walks, and the whole culture of youth changed drastically then. Teens came out of their controlled environment and grew in many directions. Some good, some not so good. many of the top performers were over-dosing on drugs. But, somehow, we made it through the 60s no worse for the wear. On the lighter side of growing up, you can now enjoy this era. Either by reading about it first hand, or bringing your own memories and comparing them. Either way, it will be fun, a lot of fun. GET READY TO LAUGH!!!
Download or read book The Teen Brain written by Sherre Florence Phillips and published by Infobase Publishing. This book was released on 2009 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientists, educators, physicians, and even some parents thought they had a handle on the teen brain. It was assumed that the adolescent brain was fully equipped with all the machinery available to adults, and capable of functioning like an adult. Experts assumed that the adolescent years provided a period of seasoning - lots of trial, error, and yet more trials - in order to improve decision-making skills. However, as any teen can attest, it's just not that simple. Thanks to new brain imaging technology, scientists have discovered that the brain is going through a virtual metamorphosis during adolescence. There is a burst of new growth, circuits are being molded, and patterns of brain activity during decision-making are far from adult-like. The Teen Brain is a revealing look at the substantial new discoveries associated with the development of the adolescent brain and their consequences on teen behavior.

Download or read book Teen Angst Naaah written by Ned Vizzini and published by Ember. This book was released on 2010-09-14 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Teen Angst! Naaah . . . Ned Vizzini offers an authentic and raw portrayal of the crushing anxiety many teens experience, and which often is dismissed as simple ‘angst’. In this classic testament to high school, Ned invites you into his world of school, parents, cool (and almost cool), music (the good and bad), friends, fame, camp, sex (sort of), Cancún (almost), prom, beer, video games, and more. With wit, irony, and honesty, Vizzini presents the weird, funny, and sometimes mortifying moments that made up his teen years. From the author of Broadway musical sensation Be More Chill and It's Kind of a Funny Story, this is a quasi-autobiographical examination of one high schooler’s battle with social anxiety, written when the author was just nineteen. “Fiercely intelligent and introspective . . . Insightful, and thoroughly charming.” —SLJ
