This book was released on 2016 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book UV Disinfection Knowledge Base

Download or read book UV Disinfection Knowledge Base written by Harold Wright and published by American Water Works Association. This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published for AWWRF members only in August, 2011, this research project conducted by AWWRF was done to in order to develop a UV disinfection knowledge base that utilities, engineers, and regulators can use to reduce the risks and costs of applying this technology. The survey data for this knowledge base was collected during the spring of 2008 and analyzed in order to develop conclusions and recommendation. 161 utilities in Canada and 148 in the United States have installed or are implementing drinking water UV disinfection. The complete database, including access to raw data and software tools, is included in this report on a CD ROM.

Book Ultraviolet Light in Water and Wastewater Sanitation 2002

Download or read book Ultraviolet Light in Water and Wastewater Sanitation 2002 written by Willy J. Masschelein and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several general books are available on ultraviolet light and its applications. However, this is the first comprehensive monograph that deals with its application to water and wastewater treatment. There is a rapidly growing interest in using UV light in water sanitation due to the increased knowledge of the potential health and environmental impacts of disinfection byproducts. Ultraviolet Light in Water and Wastewater Sanitation integrates the fundamental physics applicable to water and wastewater sanitation, the engineering aspects, and the practical experience in the field. The text analyzes the concerns associated with this application of UV light and brings together comprehensive information on the presently available UV technologies applicable to water and wastewater treatment including: lamp technologies, criteria of evaluation and choice of technology; fundamental principles; performance criteria for disinfection; design criteria and methods; synergistic use of UV and oxidants (advanced oxidation); and functional requirements and potential advantages and drawbacks of the technique. Ultraviolet Light in Water and Wastewater Sanitation is the only treatise currently available combining fundamental knowledge, recommendations for design, evaluations of performance, and future prospects for this application. Water and wastewater treatment professionals, water utility employees, governmental regulators, and chemists will find this book an essential and unique reference for a technology which has received growing regulatory acceptance.

Book excerpt: "UV light is usually delivered to drinking water as it flows through a UV reactor (Chapter 5 gives more description of the design of UV reactors). The UV equipment (including one or more UV reactors) is typically applied to filtered water and is often installed after the filter effluent piping recombining before the clearwell. It is very important that the operators are able to control the UV output in the reactor so that at least a minimum UV dose is applied at all times"--
