Book Absorbed Dose Determination in External Beam Radiotherapy

Download or read book Absorbed Dose Determination in External Beam Radiotherapy written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Code of Practice, which has also been endorsed by WHO, PAHO and ESTRO, fulfils the need for a systematic and internationally unified approach to the calibration of ionization chambers in terms of absorbed dose to water and to the use of these detectors in determining the absorbed dose to water for the radiation beams used in radiotherapy. It provides a methodology for the determination of absorbed dose to water in the low, medium and high energy photon beams, electron beams, proton beams and heavy ion beams used for external radiation therapy.

Book Handbook of Parameter Values for the Prediction of Radionuclide Transfer to Wildlife

Download or read book Handbook of Parameter Values for the Prediction of Radionuclide Transfer to Wildlife written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2014 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook provides generic parameter values for estimating the transfer of radionuclides from environmental media to wildlife for the purpose of assessing potential radiation exposure under equilibrium conditions. These data are intended for use where site specific data are either not available or not required, and to parameterize generic assessment models. They are based on a comprehensive review of the available literature, including many Russian language publications that have not previously been available in English. The publication addresses the limitations of the parameter values and the applicability of data. Some general background information on the assessment of potential impacts of radioactive releases on wildlife is also included. It complements the existing handbook in the same IAEA series with parameter to assess the radiological impact to humans.

Book Dosimetry in Diagnostic Radiology

Download or read book Dosimetry in Diagnostic Radiology written by František Pernička and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is intended to support those working in the field of diagnostic radiology dosimetry, both in standards laboratories involved in the calibration of dosimeters and those in clinical centres and hospitals where patient dosimetry and quality assurance measurements are of vital concern. This code of practice covers diverse dosimetric situations corresponding to the range of examinations found clinically, and includes guidance on dosimetry for general radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, computed tomography and dental radiography. The material is presented in a practical way with guidance worksheets and examples of calculations. A set of appendices is also included with background and detailed discussion of important aspects of diagnostic radiology dosimetry.

Book Music Description and Access

Download or read book Music Description and Access written by Jean Harden and published by A-R Editions, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Music Description and Access: Solving the Puzzle of Cataloging is both a textbook for students and a handbook and reference source for practicing catalogers. The bulk of the book is a step-by-step guide to cataloging music materials, with dozens of examples showing images of published scores or audio recordings. Content and encoding are treated separately, using RDA and MARC21. Interspersed in the chapters on practical cataloging are short Historical Asides, essays putting particular devices or conventions into context. These essays supplement a chapter on cataloging history, which follows an introductory chapter that sets the stage for the task at hand. The book ends with a chapter by Maristella Feustle on describing and providing access to music special collections, using both archival and rare-music-cataloging standards. Aids in navigating the book include an index plus multiple lists and tables. A bibliography and a list of cataloging tools that are available online are also given.

Download or read book Compendium of Neutron Spectra and Detector Responses for Radiation Protection Purposes written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is an update of Technical Report Series No. 318, Compendium of Neutron Spectra and Detector Responses for Radiation Protection Purposes (1990), that takes into account the major changes in the recommended energy dependence of risk related quantities, the increased importance of high neutron energies, the increased use of boron neutron capture therapy, promising new developments in detector design, new measured workplace spectra and improved calibration facilities. It includes the fluence to dose equivalent conversion coefficients for the recently recommended radiation protection quantities and a large number of fluence response functions for recently developed or improved detectors, as well as over 200 new spectra.

Book Quality Assurance for Radioactivity Measurement in Nuclear Medicine

Download or read book Quality Assurance for Radioactivity Measurement in Nuclear Medicine written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by IAEA. This book was released on 2006 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication contains information on the implementation of quality assurance and quality control programmes for measuring radioactivity relating to the practice of nuclear medicine, covering standards at both the end user (clinic) and secondary radioactivity standards laboratory levels. It is based on the QA principles in ISO/IEC 17025 which describes requirements that testing and calibration laboratories must meet to demonstrate that they have a quality system in place and are technically competent.

Book Obesity

    Book Details:
  • Author : World Health Organization
  • Publisher : World Health Organization
  • Release : 2000
  • ISBN : 9241208945
  • Pages : 267 pages

Download or read book Obesity written by World Health Organization and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2000 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report issues a call for urgent action to combat the growing epidemic of obesity, which now affects developing and industrialized countries alike. Adopting a public health approach, the report responds to both the enormity of health problems associated with obesity and the notorious difficulty of treating this complex, multifactorial disease. With these problems in mind, the report aims to help policy-makers introduce strategies for prevention and management that have the greatest chance of success. The importance of prevention as the most sensible strategy in developing countries, where obesity coexists with undernutrition, is repeatedly emphasized. Recommended lines of action, which reflect the consensus reached by 25 leading authorities, are based on a critical review of current scientific knowledge about the causes of obesity in both individuals and populations. While all causes are considered, major attention is given to behavioural and societal changes that have increased the energy density of diets, overwhelmed sophisticated regulatory systems that control appetite and maintain energy balance, and reduced physical activity. Specific topics discussed range from the importance of fat content in the food supply as a cause of population-wide obesity, through misconceptions about obesity held by both the medical profession and the public, to strategies for dealing with the alarming prevalence of obesity in children. "... the volume is clearly written, and carries a wealth of summary information that is likely to be invaluable for anyone interested in the public health aspects of obesity and fatness, be they students, practitioner or researcher." - Journal of Biosocial Science

Book The Use of Plane Parallel Ionization Chambers in High Energy Electron and Photon Beams

Download or read book The Use of Plane Parallel Ionization Chambers in High Energy Electron and Photon Beams written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report both complements and extends Technical Reports Series No. 277/2, Absorbed Dose Determination in Photon and Electron Beams - An International Code of Practice, IAEA Technical Reports Series No. 277/2. It describes options and how to calibrate plane parallel ionization chambers, against air kerma or absorbed dose to water standards at cobalt-60 gamma ray energies. The use of these chambers to calibrate therapy electron beams, as well as relative dose measurements for photon and electron beams, is presented. This publication also updates some of the data and concepts used in Technical Reports Series No. 277/2. It fills gaps in the latter report with respect to plane parallel chambers with a view to improve accuracy in radiotherapy when these chambers are used.
