Book Technical Factors in Small Hydropower Planning

Download or read book Technical Factors in Small Hydropower Planning written by Darryl W. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Hydrologic Engineering Center, Corps of Engineers, is preparing a document entitled 'Manual for the Determination of the Feasibility of Adding Small Hydroelectric Power to an Existing Facility.' The manual is designed for use by public agencies (federal, state and local), public and private utilities, and private investors. It focuses upon the concepts, technology, and economic and financial issues unique to small hydropower additions. This paper discusses issues related to engineering and economic considerations in planning small hydropower additions, presents an overview of significant findings of the investigation to data, and provides a status report on manual preparation. Book Renewable Hydropower Technologies

Download or read book Renewable Hydropower Technologies written by Basel I. Ismail and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-07-26 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years, hydropower played an essential role in the development of humanity and has a long and successful track record. It is a conventional renewable energy source for generating electricity in small- and large-scale production. Due to its important utilization and future prospects, various interesting topics of research related to hydroelectric power generation are covered in this book. This book is the result of significant contributions from several researchers and experts worldwide. It is hoped that the book will become a useful source of information and basis for extended research for researchers, academics, policy makers, and practitioners in the area of renewable hydropower technologies.

Book Operational Simulation of a Reservoir System with Pumped Storage

Download or read book Operational Simulation of a Reservoir System with Pumped Storage written by George F. McMahon and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake Project is presently under construction and is being placed in tandem between Hartwell and Clark Hill, two existing multipurpose hydropower plants on the Savannah River. System operational simulations were performed in support of a feasibility study for the installation of pump turbines at Russell, using a version of the Corps of Engineers HEC-5C computer program modified for system power and pumped storage. Information developed from the simulations include system hydropower production, pumping energy requirements, daily reservoir pool fluctuations, and reservoir elevation statistics. This information was useful in judging the effects of the addition of pumped storage on system hydropower production and reservoir recreation useability, as well as in ascertaining efficient system operational methods. Book Review of the U S Army Corps of Engineers Involvement with Alluvial Fan Flooding Problems

Download or read book Review of the U S Army Corps of Engineers Involvement with Alluvial Fan Flooding Problems written by Robert C. MacArthur and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This technical paper presents a general overview of the Corps of Engineers' past involvements, present practices, and the future roles in dealing with alluvial fan flooding problems. The Corps' approach to alluvial fan flooding studies and the analytical methods they use to assess potential flood hazards are summarized. Selected case studies are presented. Six important issues that need to be considered as part of an effective alluvial fan management approach are presented. An extensive list of references is also included. (fr).
