Book Technical Analysis Plain and Simple

Download or read book Technical Analysis Plain and Simple written by Michael N. Kahn and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technical analysis offers powerful, objective tools for picking stocks and making money - and in today's market environment, that makes it more indispensable than ever. Unfortunately, most explanations of the subject simply confuse investors instead of enlightening them. In this clear, practical, fully updated book, Barron's technical analysis columnist Michael N. Kahn introduces state-of-the-art technical analysis techniques in simple language that any investor can understand and use. Kahn explains exactly how technical analysis works, then teaches you how to read charts and translate them into actual buy and sell decisions. Along the way, you'll learn how to use technical analysis to complement your current approach to stock selection, discover what makes a stock look promising to technical analysts, and objectively assess both risk and reward. This updated and revised Third Edition contains many new examples reflecting today's transformed market environment, including detailed coverage of recognizing bubbles, including real estate (2006), oil (2008), and bonds (2009). Kahn offers powerful new insights into the relationship between technical analysis and market psychology, as well as crucial, up-to-date guidance on sector rotation for changing markets. He also presents a full chapter on "when things stop working": how to recognize when usually reliable technical tools are being overwhelmed by "once-in-a-thousand-year," "black-swan"-type events.

Book excerpt: This download is a free sample chapter from Technical Analysis Plain and Simple: Charting the Markets in Your Language (ISBN: 0137042019) by Michael N. Kahn CMT. Available in print and digital formats. Read the following excerpt from the Preface: Technical analysis is one of the oldest market disciplines, yet the majority of the investment and academic communities consider it, at best, a minor supplement to their own work. At worst, it is disparaged as tea-leaf reading or simply a self-fulfilling prophecy. Look at these two phrases. They suggest that the technical analyst divines the market from some mystical process. This could not be further from the truth. Consider the fundamental analyst. This person relies on company reports, conversations with company insiders, and macro-economic research in relevant business sectors. All this is indispensable when determining if a company is viable and predicting how its business will fare in the future. Now consider the source of all the raw data. Much of it is projection and conjecture. How can you rely solely on such raw data when earnings reports and other industry-wide data will be subject to revisions? Technical analysis looks at actual trades in which bulls and bears have put their money where their collective mouths are. There is no revision of data. There is no ambiguity. There is no mystical divining of the future. All market and stock selection is based on current, not past, price performance, the predictable behavior of market participants, and the dynamics between markets over time. Book A Beginner s Guide to Charting Financial Markets

Download or read book A Beginner s Guide to Charting Financial Markets written by Michael N. Kahn and published by Harriman House Limited. This book was released on 2010-08-20 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about arming investors with one simple tool that will enhance the investment decision-making process - the chart. It is not the Holy Grail and even if applied exactly as offered there is no guarantee that the reader will be successful. But owning a high quality hammer is no guarantee that the user will build a beautiful house. The hammer is a tool and in most cases the user will still need other tools - and knowledge - to build that house. What this book will do is give the reader the basics needed to look at a chart and get a feel for what the market or individual stock is doing. It will cover only the nuts and bolts of chart analysis, barely touching upon the next level concepts and definitely leaving the whiz-bang stuff well alone.

Book Charting and Technical Analysis

Download or read book Charting and Technical Analysis written by Fred McAllen and published by Fred McAllen. This book was released on 2012-04-06 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To invest successfully or trade in Stocks, Options, Forex, or even Mutual Funds, it is imperative to know AND understand price and market movements that can only be learned from Technical Analysis. You should NEVER attempt Trading or Investing without it!My 25 years experience has taught me that 'every book on the market' regarding Charting and Technical Analysis is seemingly worthless. All seem to find yet another creative way to tell you to "Buy Low and Sell High." And they offer NO in-depth understanding or analysis about WHO is buying and WHO is selling, and when.Point is, anyone, experienced or not, can show you a picture of a Chart and tell you to buy at the bottom and sell at the top. That is simple 'hindsight, ' and is always 20/20.This book is different! It is IN-DEPTH - EXPLAINED and you WILL learn price movements and technical analysis from this information! You will understand and recognize tops and bottoms in the market and in particular stocks, AS they are forming. This is highly valuable information, and you should NEVER attempt to trade or invest without this knowledge.Mutual Funds? Most people think they do not need this information because the have a Mutual Fund. That could not be farther from the truth. Investing your hard-earned money should be done with your own knowledge of market direction, when to buy, and when to move your money to safety. Without this knowledge you are at the mercy of a salesperson hungry to earn a commission. Thus, invariably entering the market at the wrong time and in the wrong investment. No one else has your best interest in mind. So learn to protect your money or keep it in the bank. It's that simple. The next move is yours.

Discover the surprising “technical” underpinnings of conventional “fundamental” stock analysis. Let’s take a close look at fundamental analysis. If a company has raised its dividends consistently each quarter, the stock should rise. If earnings continue to grow, that is good, too. This seemingly fundamental information certainly sounds like a pair of rising trends to a technician. A rising trend in underlying factors usually translates into a rising trend in the stock price.

They are formed when real people, acting in their self interests, buy and sell stocks, bonds, currencies, or commodities in pursuit of financial gain. They act, that action is recorded, and the sum actions of all participants form the patterns we see. Period. There is no conspiracy and there is no randomness.
