Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Golden Tears is based on lifes realities. It is mainly about how people lose their happiness through losing themselves as individuals and how discovering your true self can bring happiness back. The story is adapted from general life situations. The main character is one of those lucky individuals who manage to turn their unhappy lives around and become very happy at the end of the day. Using the characters turnaround, The Golden Tears provides prevention of derailment in general. Pieces of advice are sent to the youth and to the community at large. The Golden Tears, therefore, is structured to introduce people to happy life obstructions; it provides the effects of letting yourself be distracted, followed by how you can turn things around. This is where the individual, as himself or herself, counts the most, as knowledge of oneself is required for any road to success to be possible. In the last part, one who manages to discover himself or herself becomes a hero who walks a memorable journey to happiness, where true freedom may be enjoyed.

Book Healing The Path to Freedom

Download or read book Healing The Path to Freedom written by Dr. Michael D. Winer and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-20 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Praise for Healing: The Path to Freedom: "What Michael has apparently discovered and teaches is that how we interact with life, moment by moment, particularly our feeling experience, is visibly at the core of everything. From the broken things to the extraordinary things, it is nowhere else but the place that no one thinks to look--literally in ourselves. The remarkable, almost unique aspect of Michael's work is that everything he does and teaches points you back to the truth of your own tangible experience. If you want to entertain the possibility of real change, this can be an excellent place to do it. If you seek to preserve your status quo, well, this may not be the place. The work is not easy, though it is simple and clear. It's also not necessarily a quick fix, though some experience rapid results. Expect change and be prepared to see that life is not (only) what you thought it was. In today's increasingly small world, sticking one's head in the sand is becoming a less and less viable option as hiding places become hard to find. Michael's work is all about strongly engaging life and finding the only reliable refuge: your true self." -- Marc Glassgold

Book Freedom and Vengeance on Film

Download or read book Freedom and Vengeance on Film written by Robert E. Watkins and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2016-05-31 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Films both reflect and construct social reality, especially in the way they employ, affirm and critique the discourses through which we grasp political life. This book examines five contemporary feature films that engage our deep attachments to two core political ideas freedom and vengeance asking: what do audiences learn about freedom and vengeance from film, and what are the political consequences of the reproduction or disruption of their meanings? Often, contemporary films represent the pursuit of freedom and revenge in a depoliticized way, erasing the precarious character of social life. Other films, however, foreground the negotiation of unchosen relations and circumstances in their drama. Films examined include Into the Wild, Mystic River, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Wendy and Lucy and Winter s Bone."

  • Author : Frank Farwell Boston
  • Publisher : InspiringVoices
  • Release : 2014-03-06
  • ISBN : 1462407870
  • Pages : 308 pages

Download or read book The Tears of Lady Liberty written by Frank Farwell Boston and published by InspiringVoices. This book was released on 2014-03-06 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historical novel is a cautionary tale intended to emphasize how history repeats in libertys battle against tyranny. It spans four dramatic timeframes of the French Revolutions reign of terror, the American Civil War, the Prague Spring Uprising in the height of the cold war, and concludes in the desperate Iranian Revolution, which ushered in an age of terrorism and war on freedom. The saga chronicles the genealogy of a French family which escapes the guillotines of Paris to live in Prague, Bohemia, in the 1800s. From there, the story morphs into the struggle of one of this same familys French/Czech descendants who immigrated to America, as he fought in the Battle of Shiloh. The storyline returns to the days in Prague, 1968, as an Arab Spring phenomenon occurred to overthrow their oppressive rule, only to be followed by a new reign of terror. The final segment of the book takes the reader to the streets of Tehran, Iran, as a repeat of the revolt against a monarchy, as in France, resulted in mayhem and violence. The book is a thus a cautionary tale for the days we live in. Finally, there is an emotional, personal study of survival despite oppression, which those persecuted under tyranny learned. The repeated character of Pierre, Pjeter, and Peter tells of this familys eventual escape to freedom. Uniquely, the story is told by the Statue of Liberty herself, as she narrates the saga on the morning of September 11, 2001.

Moreover, it provides information on how to comfort the bereaved of all ages, develop a grief support group, conduct a memorial service, and give a eulogy. I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with grief (Anna Goff, MSW, hospice social worker, grief counselor). No More Tears is a must-read for all pastors, ministers, deacons, and grief counselors who comfort the bereaved(Rev. Deloris Greer-Stevens, Friendship Baptist Church). The pages are filled with valuable information, instruction, and encouragement (Dr. Samuel Bullock Jr., Bethany Baptist Church). Book On the Verge of Tears

    Book Details:
  • Author : Michele Byers
  • Publisher : Cambridge Scholars Publishing
  • Release : 2010-04-16
  • ISBN : 1443821950
  • Pages : 260 pages

Download or read book On the Verge of Tears written by Michele Byers and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2010-04-16 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea for this book began with David Lavery’s 2007 column for flowtv.org. “The Crying Game: Why Television Brings Us to Tears” asked us to consider that “age-old mystery”: tears. The respondents to David’s initial survey—Michele Byers among them—didn’t agree on anything ... Some cried more over film, some television, some books; some felt their tears to be a release, others to be a manipulation. They did agree, however, as did the readers who responded to the column, that crying over stories, and even “things,” is something that is a shared and familiar cultural practice. This book was born from that moment of recognition. On the Verge of Tears is not the first book to think about crying. Tom Lutz’s Crying: The Natural & Cultural History of Tears, Judith Kay Nelson’s Seeing Through Tears: Crying and Attachment, Peter Schwenger’s The Tears of Things: Melancholy and Physical Objects, and Henry Jenkins’ The Wow Climax: Tracing the Emotional Impact of Popular Culture also offer forays into this familiar, if not always entirely comfortable, emotional space. This book differs markedly from each of these others, however. As a collection of essay by diverse hands, its point of view is multi-vocal. It is not a history of tears (as is Lutz’s superb book); nor is its approach psychological/sociological (as is Nelson’s). It does not limit itself to very contemporary popular culture (as does Jenkins’ book) or material culture (as does Schwenger’s study). What On the Verge of Tears offers are personal, cultural, and political ruminations on the tears we shed in our daily engagements with the world and its artifacts. The essays found within are often deeply personal, but also have broad implications for everyday life. The authors included here contemplate how and why art, music, film, literature, theatre, theory, and material artifacts make us weep. They consider the risks of tears in public and private spaces; the way tears implicate us in tragedy, comedy, and horror. On the Verge of Tears does not offer a unified theory of crying, but, instead, invites us to imagine tears as a multi-vocal language we can all, in some manner, understand.

Book Black Existential Freedom

Download or read book Black Existential Freedom written by Nathalie Etoke and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-11-04 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The history of slavery, colonization, subjugation, gratuitous violence, and the denial of basic human rights to people of African descent has led Afro-Pessimists to look at black existence through the lens of white supremacy and anti-blackness. Against this trend, Black Existential Freedom argues that Blackness is not inherently synonymous with victimhood. Rather, it is inextricable from existential freedom and the struggle for political liberation. This book presents an existential analysis of continental and diasporic African experiences through critical interpretations of music, film, and fiction that portray what it means to be human— to persevere in the tension between life and physical, psychological, and social death—for the sake of freedom. With its transdisciplinary perspective and convergence of Africana existential philosophy, African-American Studies, Afro-French Studies, Diaspora Studies, and African studies, this book is not concerned with disciplinary boundaries or certain appropriations of European metaphysics that are committed to a reading of black “non-being.” Black Existential Freedom explores the continuities and discontinuities of black existence and the manifestations and the meanings of blackness within different countries, time periods, and social and political contexts. Etoke's book empowers the reader to understand and process the complexities of racialized identity in a globalized contemporary society. Ultimately, it is an ode to human survival and freedom.
