Book The Acquisition of Knowledge and Skills for Taskwork and Teamwork to Control Complex Technical Systems

Download or read book The Acquisition of Knowledge and Skills for Taskwork and Teamwork to Control Complex Technical Systems written by Annette Kluge and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-05 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the first comprehensive literature review on the acquisition and retention of complex skills in High Reliability Organizations. Based on this review, it introduces a theoretical model of how skill and knowledge acquisition for complex tasks is accomplished and shows how this model can be used to derive training methods and instructional techniques. Successful acquisition and retention of complex technical skills within High Reliability Organizations requires a full understanding of the learning process, knowledge structure, and skill requirements associated with the effective operation and management of technology. For researchers and for organizations, the understanding of these processes is vital for designing training programs as well as for reducing errors with severe consequences for human lives and the environment. Until now, only theoretical fragments exist on this topic, and only a very limited number of publications actually address complex tasks in vocational/occupational settings. “The Acquisition of Knowledge and Skills for Task Work and Teamwork to Control Complex Technical Systems ” uses its literature overview and theoretical model to formulate training principles, that can be used to develop training experiments for further empirical investigations as well as training methods for applied organizational contexts.

Book The Impact of Adventure Based Training on Team Cohesion and Psychological Skills Development in Elite Sporting Teams

Download or read book The Impact of Adventure Based Training on Team Cohesion and Psychological Skills Development in Elite Sporting Teams written by Ian T. Boyle and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2003 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adventure-based training has become an effective medium for delivering experiential training programs within a variety of disciplines such as; school outdoor education, corporate teamwork development, youth at risk and psychological counseling. In addition, Meyer & Wenger (1998) and Meyer (2000) were instrumental in pioneering research in to the efficacy of adventure-based training with sporting teams. This investigation adds to the growing body of knowledge in this area by demonstrating the positive effects an adventure training intervention has on athletes ability to learn new team and psychological skills. In addition, results indicated that individual and team performance might have been enhanced because of skills learnt during the intervention. This study examined the impact of an adventure-based training intervention on the group cohesion and psychological skills development of elite netball players. Data was gathered using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Many researchers are of the belief that the two methodologies compliment one another and thereby strengthen the total research model (Henderson, 1993). A phenomenological approach to qualitative data collection was followed based on the work by Dale (1996). Knowing how the intervention impacted on the participants from their perspective, is a critical question often overlooked by researchers. Results clearly indicated how athletes changed and developed during and after the intervention. Improved cohesion around task issues was especially evident, along with enhanced mental skills to handle the pressures of major competition. Lewin s change theory was examined to explain the learning process; modifications to this theory were suggested. Recommendations were outlined for improving sport psychology teaching practice, along with improved facilitation of adventure programming.

Book Working Together in Law

Download or read book Working Together in Law written by Eileen A. Scallen and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern legal professionals frequently work in small groups and teams. This concise and practical book is designed to help current and future legal professionals develop the cooperative and collaborative skills they need to work with others effectively. This book is not a cliché-laden plea for teamwork in all circumstances. The fundamental premise of the text is that when collaborative work is performed appropriately and thoughtfully, the advantages significantly outweigh the disadvantages. The book explains: (1) when group work is more beneficial than individual work; (2) when a small work group project is more appropriate than a team project; and (3) when some teams are likely to outperform others. This pioneering book helps readers maximize the benefits -- and minimize problems -- when working collaboratively. It incorporates the best contemporary research on group dynamics, conflict resolution, and decision making. To illustrate these concepts, the text uses a wide range of examples -- including the growing use of virtual legal work groups or teams. The book is designed to be used as a supplemental text in a variety of courses or as a guide in any law firm or in-house counsel setting in which legal professionals are expected to work together to produce high quality legal work.

Book The One of Power

Download or read book The One of Power written by Instafo and published by Instafo. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One Power for All, All for One Team...the Power of Teamwork The power of teamwork is not one to be sneezed at. Especially in today work's environment, you will need to work well and get along with others in order to strive for a common goal. Yet, there are those who still prefer to be the lone wolf of the pack...and that person may even be you or somebody you work with. After all, why work in a team when you can work by yourself and have full free reign and control to do whatever you want 100% to your liking without others’ interference? (Creative differences, anybody?) * Firstly, it's not always about you...in fact, it should never be about one’s personal self-interests. * Secondly, one as a TEAM can accomplish more than one as an INDIVIDUAL. That much is obvious that you’ll get more done in less time. Then why aren’t more people team players? There are common problems that can arise from working on any team, thus making certain folks loathe it or avoid it due to multiple huge egos, clashing personalities, disagreeable approaches, different thinking styles, or simply one’s natural introversion...all of which are understandable. As much we would like to take pride in our self-sufficient independence, we are still humans and can’t do everything by ourselves. We all need a helping hand once in a while, so utilize your strengths and delegate your weaknesses. This particularly rings true for any leadership or team management role requiring handling and pulling a group of people together as one when bringing any task to fruition. Then how do you get people who have strengths in different areas to eagerly collaborate with everybody else as a unified team to achieve success? This type of leadership power for effective teamwork can be found in “The One of Power.” * How to build and lead a team effectively for a common cause. * How to get rid of initial team hurdles to allow everyone to get along. * How to motivate each member at their core desire to reignite productivity. * How to create a desirable environment with a unique communication culture. * How to form family bonds with the entire team by having special get-togethers. * And team-building activities that can be performed for any team, and much more! The “one of power” is indeed your “one team” that when united can bring about unlimited power to work miracles. Above all else, the feeling of universal camaraderie from working together will make it all that much more rewarding. Have your dream team now!
