Book Trials and Triumphs A Teacher s Life Journey

Download or read book Trials and Triumphs A Teacher s Life Journey written by Dr Dhastgir Sultan Sherif and published by Mahi Publication. This book was released on 2024-01-20 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The quote sums up the role of teachers in student’s life. The influence of a teacher extends beyond the four walls of a class room and plays a significant role in molding and shaping the life of a student. Rather the teacher-student bond is the foundation stone of building the life of a student. I am lucky to be a teacher who had a great influence on the lives of many medical students. The bond, and rapport between the teacher and the student is unique and beyond explanation. I have the privilege of being a teacher for over four decades having taught couple of thousand students who now adorn the garden of Medicine. I will just narrate one incident that describes the beauty and greatness of this relationship. When I was teaching in Antigua I had developed such a relationship that cemented our souls together. At the time of my leaving the medical school, at the Airport one of my student just tried to become one with me, standing on my feet, embracing me and not allowing me to travel. It took lot of persuasion to take leave of the student leaving a deep rooted bonding that defies explanation. This short write up pictures the journey of my life traveling through many stations of learning carrying memories which words cannot capture or portray for these experiences are embedded deep into the chambers of heart, probably rightly called as the seat of love and emotions.

It is for teachers who refuse to harden their hearts, because they love learners, learning, and the teaching life." - Parker J. Palmer [from the Introduction] Teachers choose their vocation for reasons of the heart, because they care deeply about their students and about their subject. But the demands of teaching cause too many educators to lose heart. Is it possible to take heart in teaching once more so that we can continue to do what good teachers always do -- give heart to our students? In The Courage to Teach, Parker Palmer takes teachers on an inner journey toward reconnecting with their vocation and their students -- and recovering their passion for one of the most difficult and important of human endeavors.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photography is a ubiquitous part of the public sphere. Yet we rarely stop to think about the important role that photography plays in helping to define what and who constitute the public. Photography and Its Publics brings together leading experts and emerging thinkers to consider the special role of photography in shaping how the public is addressed, seen and represented. This book responds to a growing body of recent scholarship and flourishing interest in photography's connections to the law, society, culture, politics, social change, the media and visual ethics.Photography and Its Publics presents the public sphere as a vibrant setting where these realms are produced, contested and entwined. Public spheres involve yet exceed the limits of families, interest groups, identities and communities. They are dynamic realms of visibility, discussion, reflection and possible conflict among strangers of different race, age, gender, social and economic status. Through studies of photography in South America, North America, Europe and Australasia, the contributors consider how photography has changed the way we understand and locate the public sphere. As they address key themes including the referential and imaginative qualities of photography, the transnational circulation of photographs, online publics, social change, violence, conflict and the ethics of spectatorship, the authors provide new insight into photography's vital role in defining public life.
