Book Live Language Lessons

Download or read book Live Language Lessons written by Howard R. Driggs and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-02 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Live Language Lessons: Teachers' Manual This manual has been prepared especially for those using Live Language Lessons. It contains definite helps, however, for all teachers who would vitalize the language work of their schools. The effort of the author has been to produce a practical guide book which points the natural, the progressive way to train pupils effectively to express themselves in choice living language. The constructive suggestions offered herein come directly out of experiences in the classroom. The illustrations given have been developed by the author and others while teaching Live Language Lessons in various types of schools in many different states. It is hoped that this little handbook of helps will encourage teachers everywhere to take the rational road to success in language teaching, and enable them, while in service, to get the richest possible results from their work. How Live Language Lessons may best be taught can be readily discovered by a careful study of the texts themselves. The method is plainly revealed in every exercise. There seems need, however, to give teachers an even clearer view of the general plan of the books, to explain the fundamental principles on which they are based, and to make plain the essentials that must not be forgotten in their teaching. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Music Teacher's Manual Since at this period, according to Stanley Hall, the chief educational need of the child is that his mind be provided with rich culture material stimulating to the imagination, the importance of the musical surround ings during infancy can scarcely be overestimated, and the methods by which music is taught in the schools advance or hinder ideal home conditions at this period far beyond our present realization. If the child enters kindergarten, the teacher has the opportunity to furnish some of the means, through song and rhythm, by which play is enriched with elements peculiarly enjoyable to the child. Book Primary Teachers Manual Classic Reprint

Download or read book Primary Teachers Manual Classic Reprint written by C. R. Blackall and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Primary Teachers' Manual The present work is one of two manuals that have been prepared in collaboration by Mrs. Rowland and Mrs. Smith. The plans for both manuals have followed along similar lines. The introductory pages are made up in the main from the teachers' books in each course. After a short series of General Orders of Service come Special Orders of Service, one only for the Cradle Roll in the manual for teachers of beginners, and two each for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, Missions, and Promotion Day. The manual for primary teachers does not contain a special for cradle roll, but has three each for those mentioned above, with an addition of two on temperance and three on missions. All of the music in the teachers quarterly parts has been retained in the same order and numbering as originally published, with much additional music, the shorter pieces being inserted in the text, the rest indicated numerically. The musical selections will be found varied, particularly pleasing, and within the range of children's voices. A few extra pieces of music not included in the Orders of Service will afford opportunity for choice, if desired. The Round Tables and list of Musical and Teachers' Helps have been prepared especially for each of the two manuals. The arrangement of recitations and music need not be literally followed: the several Orders of Service may be easily changed or adapted to any particular occasion; or may form a basis of fresh programs at the option of teachers, with omissions or additions as may be desired. The editor takes pleasure in saying that these manuals are the product of painstaking and conscientious effort on the part of the authors, whose wide experience as practical teachers has given them such appreciation of the needs of their coworkers in the departments as to render the work especially valuable. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Primary Work: A Manual for Young Teachers This little book has been written for young Primary teachers, those just entering upon the work of teaching. For them only is it intended. The aim has not been so much to present anything new, as to make the experiences of the older teachers available for the younger ones. If in any small way this purpose is attained, if one teacher is helped even a little, the writer will have had her reward. Apology must be made for the overlapping of the chapters. The one subject, "language work," would include all, for "every lesson may be a language lesson." The divisions, however, were made for convenience. The methods given are not "cut and dried," but are intended to be only suggestive. And, after all, methods count for very little compared with the presence of the living teacher in the schoolroom. It may be necessary to teach many things and in many ways, but what we are will teach over our heads, and nothing acquired will stand our pupils in such stead upon the battlefield of life as the memory of a pure, sincere life once lived in their midst. Download or read book Parmly Method Teachers Manual Classic Reprint written by Maude Parmly and published by . This book was released on 2016-06-22 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Parmly Method Teachers' Manual Aim. To teach a child to read is to impart to him the power to get thought from the printed page. Memory. All progress in learning to read must depend upon the memory. Memory depends on three elements, interest, strength of impression, and repe tition. The first two are the most important; there fore in teaching, by exciting 'and maintaining a child's interest, and by securing distinct, vivid first impres sions, we greatly reduce the number of repetitions necessary to fasten new knowledge in his memory. Book The Rules of the Game

Download or read book The Rules of the Game written by Floyd W. Lambertson and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-20 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Rules of the Game: Teacher's Manual A recent writer, in discussing the teacher says: "Books and materials may be had almost for the asking. The great problem is to secure teachers - real teachers who are able to leave their impress on young lives ... Truth never comes to the child disembodied and detached, but always with the slant and quality of the teachers interpretation of it ... It is the concrete that grips and holds. Whatever ideals we would impress on others we must first have realized in ourselves. Words and maxims may be misunderstood; character seldom is. Precepts may fail to impress; personality never does." The Teacher and His Materials The teacher is an important factor in the teaching of this text. His breadth of preparation, his fine sense of values, his clearness of spiritual vision, and his warmth of response to the Divine will go far to determine the success or failure of the lessons in bearing fruit in young lives. The great objective. On one matter the teacher must be very clear: that he is to teach not subject matter - stories, Bible lessons, and so on - but boys and girls. The lessons are but instruments in his hands for stimulating, inspiring, and guiding young lives. The materials, important as they are, are but secondary. The primary thing is the spiritual development of the children. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
