Download or read book Conodont Studies Commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the First Conodont Paper Pander 1856 and the 40th Anniversary of the Pander Society written by D. Jeffrey Over and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Conodonts are extinct chordates resembling eels, known mainly from tooth-like microfossils called elements, found in Late Cambrian to Late Triassic fossil deposits (495 to 200 MYA). The nine manuscripts in this volume were, for the most part, first presented at conferences dedicated to conodont studies in 2006-2007 that each celebrated two milestones in conodont studies, the 150th anniversary of Christian H. Pander's 1856 paper that first described and illustrated conodonts, and the organization of the society for conodont enthusiasts that now bears his name in 1967. These papers cover a wide range of topics, times, and regions, illustrating the broad utility of conodonts, primarily as biostratigraphic tools, but also in studies of, although not limited to, geochemistry, paleobiology, paleogeography, and sequence stratigraphy."--Publisher's website.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The automated identification of biological objects or groups has been a dream among taxonomists and systematists for centuries. However, progress in designing and implementing practical systems for fully automated taxon identification has been frustratingly slow. Regardless, the dream has never died. Download or read book Protopanderodus Conodontata from the Ordovician Road River Group Northern Yukon Territory and the Evolution of the Genus written by Alexander D. McCracken and published by Energy Mines and Resources Canada. This book was released on 1989 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investigations of conodonts and other fossils from well exposed lower Paleozoic strata in the Cordillera of northern Yukon and western District of Mackenzie provide important information on the depositional and tectonic history of western Canada. This report presents the systematic description of 7 species of the Ordovician conodont genus Protopanderodus from carbonate beds within the predominately fine grained clastic rocks of the Road River Group. In addition, the spatial and temperal distribution of Protopanderodus was compiled to facilitate the interpretation of the paleoecology and evolution of this genus and its phylogenetic relationship with Drepanodus.
