Book Tau Lorentz Structure with Polarization at SLD

Download or read book Tau Lorentz Structure with Polarization at SLD written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present a measurement of the tau neutrino helicity (h{sub [nu]{sub [tau]}}) and the Michel parameters ([rho], [zeta] and [delta]) by analyzing the [tau] decays [tau] 2![pi](K)[nu]{sub [tau]}, [tau] 2!e{bar {nu}}{sub e}{nu}{sub [tau]} and [tau] 2![mu]{bar {nu}}{sub {mu}} in ee− 2!Z° 2!{tau}{tau}−. The analysis uses the 1993-1995 SLD data sample of 4316 {tau}-pair events produced with highly polarized electrons. We obtain preliminary results of h{sub {nu}{sub {tau}}} = -0.81 ± 0.18 ± 0.03, [rho] = 0.71 ± 0.09 ± 0.04, [zeta] = 1.03 ± 0.36 ± 0.05 and [zeta][delta] = 0.84 ± 0.27 ± 0.05.

Book Fundamental Particles and Interactions

Download or read book Fundamental Particles and Interactions written by R.S. Panvini and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 1998-03-13 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scope of this workshop was extended from the last one two years ago in two areas to reflect the current interest in interconnect metallization. First, the topics in metallization were extended to include problems related to atomic transport for reflow and filling of vias and contact holes, silicadation, and barrier metals. These topics are of particular interest for the development of the current quarter- micron metallization. The second was to include metallization for liquid crystal display of devices and surface acoustic devices in addition to semiconductor devices. Problems related to mass transport in these devices have become increasingly important, in some cases more so than those in semiconductor devices. Several papers were presented to discuss the similarities and differences of these phenomena and their mechanisms, focusing on the questions concerning why and how atoms migrate and what are the effects of the migration.

Book Metamaterials

Download or read book Metamaterials written by Nader Engheta and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-06-23 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leading experts explore the exotic properties and exciting applications of electromagnetic metamaterials Metamaterials: Physics and Engineering Explorations gives readers a clearly written, richly illustrated introduction to the most recent research developments in the area of electromagnetic metamaterials. It explores the fundamental physics, the designs, and the engineering aspects, and points to a myriad of exciting potential applications. The editors, acknowledged leaders in the field of metamaterials, have invited a group of leading researchers to present both their own findings and the full array of state-of-the-art applications for antennas, waveguides, devices, and components. Following a brief overview of the history of artificial materials, the publication divides its coverage into two major classes of metamaterials. The first half of the publication examines effective media with single (SNG) and double negative (DNG) properties; the second half examines electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures. The book further divides each of these classes into their three-dimensional (3D volumetric) and two-dimensional (2D planar or surface) realizations. Examples of each type of metamaterial are presented, and their known and anticipated properties are reviewed. Collectively, Metamaterials: Physics and Engineering Explorations presents a review of recent research advances associated with a highly diverse set of electromagnetic metamaterials. Its multifaceted approach offers readers a combination of theoretical, numerical, and experimental perspectives for a better understanding of their behaviors and their potentialapplications in components, devices, and systems. Extensive reference lists provide opportunities to explore individual topics and classes of metamaterials in greater depth. With full-color illustrations throughout to clarify concepts and help visualize actual results, this book provides a dynamic, user-friendly resource for students, engineers, physicists, and other researchers in the areas of electromagnetic materials, microwaves, millimeter waves, and optics. It equips newcomers with a basic understanding of metamaterials and their potential applications. Advanced researchers will benefit from thought-provoking perspectives that will deepen their knowledge and lead them to new areas of investigation.

Book Precision Tests Of The Standard Electroweak Model

Download or read book Precision Tests Of The Standard Electroweak Model written by Paul G Langacker and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-02-23 with total page 1032 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High precision measurements of weak neutral current and charged current processes and of the properties of the Z and W bosons have established the standard electroweak model as correct down to a distance scale of 10-16 cm, and are a sensitive probe of possible underlying physics. In this book, all aspects of the program are considered in detail, including the structure of the standard model, radiative corrections, high precision experiments, and their implications. The major classes of experiments are surveyed, covering the experiments themselves, the data analysis, results, and prospects. This volume is a detailed reference for theoretical and experimental researchers, as well as an introductory text for advanced students.

Book Lab on Fiber Technology

Download or read book Lab on Fiber Technology written by Andrea Cusano and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-29 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on a research field that is rapidly emerging as one of the most promising ones for the global optics and photonics community: the “lab-on-fiber” technology. Inspired by the well-established "lab on-a-chip" concept, this new technology essentially envisages novel and highly functionalized devices completely integrated into a single optical fiber for both communication and sensing applications. Based on the R&D experience of some of the world's leading authorities in the fields of optics, photonics, nanotechnology, and material science, this book provides a broad and accurate description of the main developments and achievements in the lab-on-fiber technology roadmap, also highlighting the new perspectives and challenges to be faced. This book is essential for scientists interested in the cutting-edge fiber optic technology, but also for graduate students.
