Download or read book Task Analyses of Military Intelligence Critical Combat Functions written by Terry P. Bartkoski and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This preface provides the user with necessary and relevant information concerning the development of critical combat functions (CCF): CCF 1, Conduct Intelligence Planning, CCF 2, Collect Information, CCF 3, Process Information, and CCF 4, Disseminate Intelligence, as performed by a brigade. A CCF is defined as. an integration (i.e., interelationship) among participants and tasks that represents a force multiplier with a definable outcome. Participants and organizational structure identified in this analysis are based on table of organization and equipment (TOE) 87042L1OO, dated 10/05/95. Field Manual (FM) 71-3, The Armored and Mechanized Infantry Brigade, January 1996, was used to identify special staff positions. These analyses of a brigade's performance of the CCFs which compose the Intelligence Bafflefield Operating System (BOS) are a product of the process of developing a training strategy for the brigade. The analyses describe tasks, participants, products, processes, and relationships necessary for providing intelligence to the heavy brigade commander and staff, higher and lower units, supporting units, and adjacent units."--DTIC.

Download or read book Direct and Lead Units During Preparation for the Battle Battlefield Function 19 as Accomplished by a Direct Support Field Artillery Battalion Volume 2 Assessment Package written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the overall research program was to document the synchronization required by command and control tasks performed within the armored brigade, to include combat support and combat service support units. The immediate application of the documentation was to support developers of staff training in two related projects: Battle Staff Training System and Staff Group Trainer. The documentation was also intended to assist with the planning and execution of collective training. The documentation approach was to apply function analysis (FA) techniques for battlefield function (BFs) in the Command and Control battlefield operating system. Thirteen FAs were developed for the brigade headquarters and four supporting units: direct support field artillery battalion, engineer battalion, forward support battalion, and air defense artillery battery. The FAs were revised through a formative evaluation process that included internal review and successive external reviews by combat training centers, proponent agencies, and a review council representing potential users of the FAs. The final products include the FAs, a use's guide, and assessment packages for the BFs. This report provides the assessment package for BF 19 as performed by the direct support field artillery battalion.

Book Profiles of Strengths and Weaknesses of Task Force Performance

Download or read book Profiles of Strengths and Weaknesses of Task Force Performance written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Military analysts extracted task ratings for NTC offense missions from take-home packages for nine AC and nine RC task forces. The ratings were aggregated to the level of critical combat functions (CCF). Both components had the same general pattern of strengths and weaknesses: CCFs with a high proportion of individual tasks related to planning and preparation were relative strengths; CCFs that require synchronization during execution were relative weaknesses. While AC units had consistently higher ratings, only five CCFs were dramatically different: Conduct intelligence planning, collect information, process information, disseminate intelligence, and mortars. CCF ratings for RC task forces were correlated with a METT-T index. The two Maneuver CCFs (Tactical movement and Engage enemy: direct fire and maneuver) had significant correlations. The authors conclude that the procedures provide useful data to support quantitative analysis and that the detail provided by the CCF level of aggregation allows a more useful analysis of training needs than a BOS level of aggregation.

Book Selection and Training of Field Artillery Forward Observers Methodologies for Improving Target Acquisition Skills

Download or read book Selection and Training of Field Artillery Forward Observers Methodologies for Improving Target Acquisition Skills written by John B. Mocharnuk and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research was performed to identify prominent characteristics of Field Artillery forward observer (FO) selection and training which can be used to improve basic performance of FO tasks and thereby enhance the combat effectiveness of the fire support system. The methodology incorporated profile development, task analysis, and training analysis. These research elements were supported by data obtained from: (1) interviews with instructors and over 50 FOs or Fire Support Team (FIST) chiefs, (2) two questionnaires administered to Field Artillery Officer Basic course (FAOBC) students, and (3) a questionnaire completed by 332 artiller officers. The task analysis clearly showed that map reading skills were among the most critical FO skills, Task by scenario interactions were found to be an important consideration in determining FO tasks and skill requirements. The training analysis revealed discrepancies in the list of tasks taught in FAOBC and the list of tasks emerging from the tasks analysis and identified alternaitve approaches. Methodology and procedures were suggested for increasing the effectiveness of FO and OBC training development.
