Book Target Acquisition in Communication Electronic Warfare Systems

Download or read book Target Acquisition in Communication Electronic Warfare Systems written by Richard Poisel and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2003-12-01 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radio communications plays an increasingly critical and growing role in today's electronic battlefield. Because more and more radio signals are deployed in electronic warfare (EW) situations, determining which ones are friendly and which are enemy has become more difficult and crucial. This book arms defense systems designers and operators with the full array of traditional search mechanisms and advanced high-resolution techniques for targeting radio signals deployed in electronic warfare. An invaluable technical reference, the book helps professionals fully understand the tradeoffs involved in designing EW target acquisition systems with less time and effort. Moreover, practitioners learn how to establish optimum methods for acquiring communication targets for exploitation or countermeasures. The book also serves as an excellent text for graduate courses in electronic warfare.

Book Target Acquisition Methodology Enhancement TAME

Download or read book Target Acquisition Methodology Enhancement TAME written by Walter J. Bauman and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The TAME report describes a general approach for assessing target unit acquisition in a tactical nuclear scenario, given well-defined input functions representing acquisition and retention conditioned on environment and elapsing time. Input functions suitable for constructing an operational program to execute the methodology are to be generated in an ongoing CAA effort, Target Acquisition Study IV (TAS IV). The methodology supports the Nuclear Fire Planning and Assessment Model III (NUFAM III) at CAA. The TAME approach assesses the acquisition effectiveness of an array of sensors against a target unit. Search and acquisition retention are presented as alternating renewal processes over time. Primary output measures include the steady state probability of unit acquisition and the probability distribution of residual duration of acquisition retention as a valid target. Keywords: Target detection, Target acquisition, Tactical target acquisition sensors, Probability, Simulation, Targeting foreign military forces, Combat forces, Surface targets. (EDC).

Book Effects of Search Area Size on Target Acquisition with Passive Night Vision Devices

Download or read book Effects of Search Area Size on Target Acquisition with Passive Night Vision Devices written by James Huber Banks and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Night Operations Program is concerned with optimizing human performance in relation to night vision devices and related sensors. Specific aspects deal with determining performance effectiveness of sensor systems, factors which affect performance, and means of improving effectiveness. The present study describes research involving the use of such devices in assessing the effectiveness of soldier performance during night operations. The primary objective of the experiment was to investigate the effects of search area size on performance--as it interacts with a number of environmental, target, and human factors--and to determine the implications of findings for operational use, basis of issue; and search deployment, as well as for improvement of soldiers' effectiveness in using these devices.
