Book A Walk on the Beach

Download or read book A Walk on the Beach written by Buddy McCoy and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-05 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was a cold January afternoon when Buddy and Olivia arrived at Sea Island. They came from different corners of the state to a Georgia Association of Realtors' convention, a black tie affair that attracted nearly six hundred participants. Buddy was divorced and Olivia was a widow. Olivia smiled as she watched Buddy flirt with the young lady at the ticket counter. Little did she know his attention would become focused on her later in the evening. Whether the meeting came by chance or by destiny, the two lonely souls needed "A Walk On The Beach". Soothing music by the band after dinner was an invitation to dance. The ballroom was packed. Buddy was in the hunt. He circled the room three times leaving no stone unturned. Near the end of the third lap, he was stopped dead in his tracks. There she sat, wearing a low-cut sequined blouse, and the baby blues and the smile and the silky blond hair sent tremors through his heart. "Her beauty radiated like a beacon from a lighthouse!" It would be their first dance of many over the next few years, and at one point they danced alone to cheers from the crowd. The courtship blossomed after that first meeting, but there were challenges. Olivia lived on Tybee Island and Buddy lived in Moultrie, some four and a half hours away. Buddy did most of the driving, of course, for the chase was on. Tybee became their playground with long walks on the beach, dinner parties and romantic sunsets. Share the intimacy, humor and trials of this true love story as it unfolds through their e-mails. Feel the warmth and passion of the relationship as two adults strive to give love a second chance.

Book The Tourguide

Download or read book The Tourguide written by Michael A. Laker and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2011-03 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "What an amazing story. But more than a story, it is the real life experience of a young man who faced the monster of mental disturbance with little means to combat it. The anguish he suffered took him on a roller coaster journey of depression, anxiety, and delusion. Thanks to the grace of God, he survived to tell of his journey. After his recovery, I had the privilege of being his pastor for fifteen years. He was a vital part of church life, serving his Lord, and making each day productive." Pastor Gene Mumau, Free Methodist Church, Oregon Conference "Michael's battle with delusional thinking is brought alive for the reader as he guides us into the inner workings of his mind. Hope emerges as his mental anguish finds eventual relief and healing due to the power of his strong Christian faith." William Vaughters, Licensed Clinical Social Worker "Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long." Psalm 25:5 NIV

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 2011, Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind: A Bestseller's Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood presented the first comprehensive overview of how the iconic novel became an international phenomenon that has managed to sustain the public's interest for more than eighty-five years. Various Mitchell biographies and several compilations of her letters told part of the story, but until 2011, no single source had revealed the full saga. Now updated with two new chapters that bring the saga into 2021, this entertaining account of a literary and pop culture phenomenon tells how Mitchell's book was developed, marketed, distributed, and otherwise groomed for success in the 1930s—and the savvy measures taken since then by the author, her publisher, and her estate to ensure its longevity.

Book The Sunset Route

Download or read book The Sunset Route written by Carrot Quinn and published by Dial Press. This book was released on 2021-07-06 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The unforgettable story of one woman who leaves behind her hardscrabble childhood in Alaska to travel the country via freight train—a beautiful memoir about forgiveness, self-discovery, and the redemptive power of nature, perfect for fans of Wild or Educated. NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER • “An urgent read. A courageous life. Quinn’s story burns through us and bleeds beauty on every page.”—Noé Álvarez, author of Spirit Run: A 6,000-Mile Marathon Through North America’s Stolen Land After a childhood marked by neglect, poverty, and periods of homelessness, with a mother who believed herself to be the reincarnation of the Virgin Mary, Carrot Quinn moved out on her own. She found a sense of belonging among straight-edge anarchists who taught her how to traverse the country by freight trains, sleep in fields under the stars, and feed herself by foraging in dumpsters. Her new life was one of thrilling adventure and freedom, but still she was haunted by the ghosts of her lonely and traumatic childhood. The Sunset Route is a powerful and brazenly honest adventure memoir set in the unseen corners of the United States—in the Alaskan cold, on trains rattling through forests and deserts, as well as in low-income apartments and crowded punk houses—following a remarkable protagonist who has witnessed more tragedy than she thought she could ever endure and who must learn to heal her own heart. Ultimately, it is a meditation on the natural world as a spiritual anchor, and on the ways that forgiveness can set us free.
