En esta obra, los estudiantes, profesionistas, patrones y trabajadores podrán conocer, entre otras, las diferentes modalidades de contratación; las reglas aplicables al periodo de prueba; las normas reguladoras de las condiciones generales del trabajo; las disposiciones relativas a la prohibición del trabajo para los menores de 15 años, y diversas restricciones para el trabajo de los menores de 18 años; los derechos de las mujeres embarazadas y el permiso de paternidad de cinco días laborales o, en su caso, por la adopción de un infante; el derecho de los trabajadores a participar en las utilidades de las empresas; la contratación de trabajadores extranjeros; el tratamiento laboral de los comisionistas, sin olvidar a los intermediarios laborales (mejor conocidos como outsourcing). Asimismo, se analizan las disposiciones de la Ley de Ayuda Alimentaria para los Trabajadores y su reglamento. En materia de seguridad social se abunda en las obligaciones que los patrones deben cumplir cuando afilian a los trabajadores al IMSS, considerando el salario base de cotización para enterar, de manera correcta, las cuotas obrero-patronales.
