Book excerpt: The Skinwalker is deeply embedded in the Native American lore of the peoples indigenous to the Four Corners of the American Southwest. Though contemporary archaeologists and anthropologists have uncovered significant evidence of its presence in the art of the ancient peoples which inhabited the Great Basin and surrounding lands prior to the tribes which were to follow, there is no explanation for its origin-beyond an alternate plane or spirit world-or its eventual, and temporary, disappearance. Regardless, history documents that the Skinwalker was again drawn forth by the Shaman of the Navajo to avenge the cruelty of their enemy, the Ute. To this day, the Skinwalker remains among us, haunting a corridor among the hills and canyons known as the Path of the Skinwalker. Here in these pages is a collection of actual modern Skinwalker encounters told by those who came face to face with this frightening and supernatural being.

Book Hunt for the Skinwalker

Download or read book Hunt for the Skinwalker written by Colm A. Kelleher and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2005-12-06 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of the controversial bestseller Brain Trust brings his scientific expertise to the chilling true story of unexplained phenomena on Utah's Skinwalker Ranch -- and challenges us with a new vision of reality. For more than fifty years, the bizarre events at a remote Utah ranch have ranged from the perplexing to the wholly terrifying. Vanishing and mutilated cattle. Unidentified Flying Objects. The appearance of huge, otherworldly creatures. Invisible objects emitting magnetic fields with the power to spark a cattle stampede. Flying orbs of light with dazzling maneuverability and lethal consequences. For one family, life on the Skinwalker Ranch had become a life under siege by an unknown enemy or enemies. Nothing else could explain the horrors that surrounded them -- perhaps science could. Leading a first-class team of research scientists on a disturbing odyssey into the unknown, Colm Kelleher spent hundreds of days and nights on the Skinwalker property and experienced firsthand many of its haunting mysteries. With investigative reporter George Knapp -- the only journalist allowed to witness and document the team's work -- Kelleher chronicles in superb detail the spectacular happenings the team observed personally, and the theories of modern physics behind the phenomena. Far from the coldly detached findings one might expect, their conclusions are utterly hair-raising in their implications. Opening a door to the unseen world around us, Hunt for the Skinwalker is a clarion call to expand our vision far beyond what we know.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps no place on Earth has been the focal point for as many strange phenomena as the little corner of Utah known as the Skinwalker Ranch. This nebulous stretch of terrain in the Uinta Basin has hosted numerous sightings of blue orbs, UFOs, wolfmen, Bigfoot and practically every other paranormal bogeyman you could think of. Despite these heady tales of the bizarre, the outside world knew very little about the strange happenings at Skinwalker Ranch until fairly recently. But for the Native Americans of the region, the history of high strangeness goes back at least 1,000 years. Deep in their ancestral memory, frightening tales of the skin-walker roam across their consciousness. The dread is so great, in fact, that many residents of the nearby Ute Indian Reservation still refuse to set foot in the area known as Skinwalker Ranch. For them, the land is hopelessly cursed and to be avoided at all costs. But for the purpose of this book, we are going to cast these ancient words of wisdom to the wayside and delve right into the thick of things.--

Book Some Kind of Power

Download or read book Some Kind of Power written by Margaret K. Brady and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The stories presented here by Meg Brady, collected with delicacy and care from her own students, speak to us in a rarely available, open, and trusting way. The reader will find that this is no mere 'kids' stuff, ' but rather that it provides a rich - perhaps even astounding - insight into the ways in which children's oral narratives encapsulate their culture's ongoing emotional concerns. Brady's work also amply demonstrates the capacity of children to develop highly articulated and formulaic modes of narrative expression, and shows how these narratives relate the children to the cultural worlds around them ... It is apparent from Brady's conclusion to this fascinating study that an analysis of skinwalker stories demonstrates the ways in which traditional Navajo symbols persist in an area of the reservation which is becoming more culturally heterogeneous. Contact with others actually accentuates Navajo values rather than eroding them. The symbol system associated with the skinwalker figure is flourishing, and in the storytelling events of the Navajo children there is dramatically enacted the process by which a culture as vibrant as that of the Navajo perpetuates and continually recreates its most meaningful symbols.

Book Skinwalkers Shapeshifters and Native American Curses

Download or read book Skinwalkers Shapeshifters and Native American Curses written by Gary Swanson and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-09-06 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The almost unknown world of the murderous Skinwalker has never been so fully exposed before this book. The terrible ability of this creature to morph between man and animal with its shapeshifting ability creates an evil and dangerous entity that defies all reason! Being that it still lives among our Native American population after centuries of relatively few documented incidents attests to the frightening power it possesses. The fear of unleashing its shockingly destructive powers has kept even those knowledgeable spiritual leaders afraid to challenge or unleash its evils except under extreme provocation! This interpretation of a creature so devastating that the mere mention of its name causes undue stress and anxiety among our Native Peoples, and evoking its terrible powers only happens when greed and the utmost wicked purposes outweigh all moral and common decency. The fact that this evil even exists was previously unknown to the publishers until their research of the Sasquatch happened to have crossed the line from the study of a reclusive creature that simply desires to coexist with man to the Skinwalker malevolency that seems to be desirous of the dominance of man and the destruction of his very soul if one should be so unfortunate as to run afoul of its evil! We sincerely thank our many contributors who under promise of anonymity have shared with us their knowledge of the Skinwalker and shapeshifter. At long last the secrets of these shadowy beings are revealed and the dark curtain of secrecy has been lifted by those brave individuals who have dared to bring these monsters into the light! The editors have gone to extreme measures to protect the identity of the contributors. The accompanying stories and events regarding our Native American Peoples are the true stories of those unfortunate victims, who in their ignorance have removed items from Native American burial sites. The spirits, who appear to be guardians of the graves of the departed, can and do suffer horrible consequences upon those who have stolen items or caused damage or destruction to the sacred resting places of these first Americans. These reports are by survivors, some of whom who have been able to seek a reversal of the curses or by surviving relatives of those who received the revenge of the spirits. The frighteningly true results and the severe penalties exacted upon those who have desecrated, or even slightly disturbed, the resting places of the Native Americans are revealed as a cautionary explanation that has never been fully clarified to the tourist who carelessly stumbles upon such sacred sites.

Download or read book The Muledeer Chronicles written by Erick Rhetts and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-02-16 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prior to writing and publishing LOST ON SKINWALKER RANCH, the story of a security guard by the name of Riley working on the property which lends its name to the title, I had never heard of Skinwalkers; and if I did, I assure you it was in no connection to the Native American lore associated with the Great Basin, but instead a movie starring Tommy Lee Jones, called THE MISSING. However, since that first book has been published and, thankfully, read by no few people, I have been receiving on a regular basis Skinwalker encounter stories from people living throughout the Great Basin and Four Corners areas. Most, although interesting and I believe authentic-in as much as the people who send them believe their experience to be real-are relatively short and devoid of much in the way of detail. This is not the case with the following story. THE MULEDEER CHRONICLES is derived from the journal of a man named Abrahm (pronounced Abraham) Muledeer, a member of the Northern Paiute and currently, I believe, still residing in the northern reaches of the state of Nevada. I'll leave that final determination up to you. He himself did not make his journal available to me. This was done by his son Obediah and after the disappearance of his father. He, however, did not send me the actual journals, but instead a combination of scanned pages, these via email, and Xerox copies via snail mail. I did what I could with the available material to tell the story as chronologically-and logically-as possible. If I have a complaint, it is not with the material, but its length: I wish it was longer. As for the story itself, it takes place primarily in the autumn of 1989, but extends-most unfortunately for Obediah-to the present day. On the surface it is a Skinwalker story. However, it is much more, delving into and providing a look into the alternate realm which exists between the lands of the Earth People and the celestial planes of the Holy People, and which is inhabited by immortal spirits who seek purpose through imposing themselves upon those who are without intervention defenseless against their wiles-we humans. I have chosen to tell the story through Obediah. It is, after all, his story.
