Download or read book Punt written by D P Badaczewski and published by . This book was released on 2020-04-08 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PUNT is the true story of John Nies. John gets cut from the NFL's Buffalo Bills and then goes down a uniquely dark path filled with orgies, black tar heroin, auditions with Joel Schumacher for the role of Batman, marijuana kingpins, Mexican Federales, tryouts with the Pittsburgh Steelers, hang-outs with: Pam Anderson, WWE Superstar Goldberg, and his MTV famous brother, Eric Nies. John had no clue that oil wrestling on that particular night, "the prettiest girl he ever saw," at the Hollywood Tropicana would change his life forever. "It's hard to read about such a great talent flushing his God-given gift down the toilet in deference to pleasures of the flesh, drugs and just plain excess. It's a combination of a non-fiction based novel, married with a self-discovery book in which the epic tragedy doesn't fully round out until it plummets way past the point of redemption even seeming possible." - Mark Ross"I used to think that I've lived a full and wild life...then I read PUNT and now I feel like Mother Teresa!" - Buck J.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have spent a lifetime wildfowling and involved in shooting and fieldsports. Wildfowling has been in my family for over a hundred years, it’s in my blood. I have a passion for punt gunning and have also spent the last year breeding award winning gun dogs, particularly Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. I decided to write this book as quite often I would find myself relaying some of my wildfowling, punt gunning, shooting and dog breeding stories and advice to friends and people I have met. It dawned on me that I had a wealth of experience and stories that I would like to share with others. I have put together this book to give you an insight into the world of wildfowling, fieldsports, punt gunning and dog breeding that I have gained over the years. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed putting it all down on paper. I’ve included some interesting and humorous stories as well from over the years.

Book excerpt: Well, about the time I joined, the Dacoits were unusually troublesome; the police had a hard time of it, and almost lived in the saddle, and the cavalry were constantly called up to help them, while detachments of infantry from the station were under canvas at several places along the top of the Ghauts to cut the bands off from their strongholds, and to aid, if necessary, in turning them out of their rock fortresses. The natives in the valleys at the foot of the Ghauts, who have always been a semi-independent race, ready to rob whenever they saw a chance, were great friends with the Dacoits, and supplied them with provisions whenever the hunt on the Deccan was too hot for them to make raids in that direction...FROM THE BOOK.
Download or read book Tales of a Clear Dark Night written by H.F. Jansen Estrup and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2001-05-30 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humanity, we are taught, has always looked to the heavens for inspiration, solace, even salvation. Why? What did our ancestors see there? How was it understood? And how will we, in this enlightened, high-tech age, benefit by discovering the motives and miscalculations of ancient teachings? Jansen Estrups Tales of a Clear, Dark Night is a stunning inquiry into the essence of archaeological, mythic and cosmological lore, and their relationship to the pandemic of violence at large in todays societies. Working the night watch with unusual savvy, he balances toughness with compassion while deftly illustrating the murderous intrigues which are uncovered. An original and controversial thinker, Estrup concludes that all oppression is rooted in nothing less than the stories we tell each other and our children. Asking questions until he has answers, the author masterfully weaves together the threads of past and present into a griping read.

Download or read book Sid Brooks Tales from the San Diego Chargers Locker Room written by Sid Brooks and published by Sports Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2006 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During his 27-year tenure with the San Diego Chargers, equipment manager Sid Brooks kept over 5,000 football players from appearing naked before their cheering fans. The first African-American to hold the job of equipment manager in the NFL, Brooks' job was to see that each player left the locker room in uniform. But the means to that end was far more complicated -- and outrageous -- than one would believe.Sid Brooks' Tales from the Chargers Locker Room takes the reader aboard the elevator to B2, the basement of Qualcomm Stadium, where the Chargers locker room is housed. In that basement, the equipment department and trainers, affectionately known as "dungeon rats," ran the Chargers locker room. There, Sid Brooks became caretaker for all who crossed its threshold. The locker room would be damp, dark, and quiet before the coffee and doughnuts arrived, before the arrogant swagger of the players and boom boxes, high-fives, and back-slapping brought the joint to life. Here Sid recreates that environment with tales from within the locker room, the team hotel, and the field of play, featuring stories about Chargers greats like Dan Fouts, Charlie Joiner, Kellen Winslow, Louie Kelcher, John Jefferson, Rodney Harrison, and Junior Seau. Sid recounts stories unique to a life spent working behind the scenes in the Chargers locker room. With an eye for detail, he recounts tales of spies sent out to capture the opposing team's playbooks; the night the lights went out on Don Schula; wild cab rides with Fouts, Joiner, and Winslow; the zany pre-game rituals and idiosyncrasies of Russ Washington, Wilbur Young, Pat Curran, Woodrow Lowe, and others; rivalries born not on the playing field, but at thedominoes table; and plenty of pranks and good-natured ribbing.Rarely does a book offer more than a passing glance at what makes a football team a family. But Chargers fans can rejoice, because Sid Brooks not only introduces the family, h

We have now republished the third and best edition of 1875, using the original text and engravings. Download or read book Seafaring Expeditions to Punt in the Middle Kingdom written by Kathryn A. Bard and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2018-08-13 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 12th Dynasty (ca. 1985-1773 BC) the Egyptian state sent a number of seafaring expeditions to the land of Punt, located somewhere in the southern Red Sea region, in order to bypass control of the upper Nile by the Kerma kingdom. Excavations at Mersa/Wadi Gawasis on the Red Sea coast of Egypt from 2001 to 2011 have uncovered evidence of the ancient harbor (Saww) used for these expeditions, including parts of ancient ships, expedition equipment and food – all transported ca. 150 km across the desert from Qift in Upper Egypt to the harbor. This book summarizes the results of these excavations for the organization of these logistically complex expeditions, and evidence at the harbor for the location of Punt. “[There] is no shortage of analysis relating to the Punt expeditions, much of which is likely to become the new ‘standard’ account of these voyages and of the huge logistical and ideological undertaking they represented. The volume will therefore be of immense value to scholars and students of ancient Egypt, and of ancient seafaring more generally.” - Julian Whitewright, University of Southampton, in: The International Journal of Nautical Archaeology 48.2 (2019)
