Download or read book Use Me Lord written by Helena Ohmen and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Use Me, Lord' is a collection of short, easy- to- read, true stories from the author's life. These amazing stories reveal the Power of God in everyday life. When one permits God to use them for His Glory, extraordinary events unfold. This book was written to glorify God, lead others to Christ and allow everyone to realize they can be used of God through simple surrender to His will. Stories include God's direction for the author to move with her husband and children from the only home they had ever known to a location far away from family, friends, and church. These stories will encourage and strengthen you to wait on the Lord to provide for your needs. Realizing God's visible answers to prayer will draw you closer to Him. The author's passion for the lost and God's call on her life to win souls for the Kingdom of God is evident. Having delayed God's direction to write this book because she was "too busy", the author lost her job. After allowing her a few days of self-pity and crying He instructed, "Now write the book." Her willingness to lose it all to say "Yes" to God is testimony of her faith. 'Use Me, Lord' will bring you to tears and make you laugh while allowing you to reflect on what you are doing for the glory of God. Helena Ohmen lives with her husband Fred in White Pine, Tennessee. She has been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Her long career has allowed her to meet many people in need of healing and many others seeking answers to the meaning of life. Helena thanks God for her marriage of 31 years to Fred, her two children, their God-given spouses, and her grand-daughter. Please visit Helena's website: www.incrediblemiracles.com

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "As agronomy is the care of the soil and Dr. Arnold's life work, he shares with the reader his care for the soul as he travels through life in this insightful autobiography. The reader becomes a visitor in the lively dialog among family members and colleagues as Dr. Arnold reveals conflicts and resolutions in the world of faith and science. His subtle sense of humor adds a light touch to this amazing journey." - Anne S. Owens, President Samar Publishing Inc. When you read this book, you will discover the author is a man who dearly loves his family and friends. Furthermore, his completely committed faith in our Lord is a role model for all Christians." - Doris Hodges "Faith and Science. Can one person truly emote to these two different worlds? In this book, the autobiographer reveals his unwavering deep faith, while overcoming many challenges as he lived a professional life as a well respected and successful scientist. Read on and discover a true story that is deep in meaning, yet inter spaced with happy family memories and light diversions. The reader will have much to ponder long after the end of the book." - Jo Watkins "Science and religion walk hand in hand in Wendell Arnold's journey from a farm boy to the holder of a Doctorate in phytopathology and numerous patents in the environmental field. In From the Cotton Patch to Ph.D. we encounter a warm and readable story of a man's life defined by scientific inquiry and his relationship to Jesus Christ." - Bob Libby, Author and Episcopal Priest "Wendell Arnold's story of his Christian walk in life's journey is inspiring, heart-warming and a window into mid-century American life. Dr. Arnold's disarming and self-deprecating account of his experiences in family, youth, marriage, professional life and retirement paint a personal portrait of how to be aware of Christ's constant presence in our daily lives. Sit back and enjoy your travels with Wendell, knowing that you will find strength in his example." - Ruth D. Foss, Diocesan President, Daughters of the King. The title From the Cotton Patch to Ph.D. is by its very nature autobiographical. Wendell Arnold tells about being from a family of nine kids whose parents are share croppers. The experience in the cotton patch to dealing with corporate political challenges, environmental issues and legal avenues blended with raising a family paints the picture of a managed life. He shares his profound experience with God in his life as the adventures take more twists and turns than a rattlesnake chasing his prey. Dr. Arnold is a scientist with a BS and MS in Agronomy and a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences. He holds over ten patents on compound efficacy to control plant pathogens and is the author or co-author of over 35 scientific papers that have been published in refereed journals. Dr. Arnold skillfully tells his intriguing story of growing up picking cotton and becoming a world renowned scientist with faith in God. His story is a must read for those who think that religion, science and environmental improvement don't mix.

Download or read book The Ultimate Surprise written by Jacqueline P. Jones and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2009-08-10 with total page 90 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ultimate Surprise will take you on a journey like no other journey you have ever traveled before. First, let me explain what the “ultimate surprise” was. It was a “brain tumor – a Meningioma”. This type of tumor, in most cases, is benign and not cancerous. To be told that you have a brain tumor, cancerous or not, is traumatic. That is the way I felt when I was told that I had a brain tumor. Trust me, when you hear those words, everything else is mute and you can’t hear anything else. The only thought that comes to mind is “Oh My God, a Brain Tumor? You answer to yourself, “Yes, that is what you have”. The next thing you do is brace yourself for what you must still have to face. This book was written to help you through this journey and the many stops you have to take to reach your destination. Your destination starts with meeting your surgeon, having the surgery to eradicate (remove) the ultimate surprise and then you stay on the road to recovery until you feel better. The end of the journey is when you are pain-free and the “ultimate surprise” is just a memory.

Download or read book White Sand Black Beach written by Bush, Gregory W and published by University Press of Florida. This book was released on 2016-07-20 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Florida Historical Society Harry T. and Hariette V. Moore Award Florida Book Awards, Silver Medal for Florida Nonfiction In May 1945, activists staged a “wade-in” at a whites-only beach in Miami, protesting the Jim Crow–era laws that denied blacks access to recreational waterfront areas. Pressured by protestors in this first postwar civil rights demonstration, the Dade County Commission ultimately designated the difficult-to-access Virginia Key as a beach for African Americans. The beach became vitally important to the community, offering a place to congregate with family and friends and to enjoy the natural wonders of the area. It was also a tangible victory in the continuing struggle for civil rights in public space. As Florida beaches were later desegregated, many viewed Virginia Key as symbolic of an oppressive past and ceased to patronize it. At the same time, white leaders responded to desegregation by decreasing attention to and funding for public spaces in general. The beach was largely ignored and eventually shut down. In White Sand Black Beach, historian and longtime Miami activist Gregory Bush recounts this unique story and the current state of the public waterfront in Miami. Recently environmentalists, community leaders, and civil rights activists have come together to revitalize the beach, and Bush highlights the potential to stimulate civic engagement in public planning processes. While local governments defer to booster and lobbying interests pushing for destination casinos and boat shows, Bush calls for a land ethic that connects people to the local environment. He seeks to shift the local political divisions beyond established interest groups and neoliberalism to a broader vision that simplifies human needs, and reconnects people to fundamental values such as health. A place of fellowship, relaxation, and interaction with nature, this beach, Bush argues, offers a common ground of hope for a better future.

Book excerpt: The Inside Story of America's Ultimate Warriors When Osama bin Laden was assassinated, the entire world was fascinated by the men who had completed the seemingly impossible mission that had dogged the U.S. government for over a decade. SEAL Team 6 became synonymous with heroism, duty, and justice. Only a handful of the elite men who make up the SEALs, the US Navy's best and bravest, survive the legendary and grueling selection process that leads to becoming a member of Team 6, a group so classified it technically does not even exist. There are no better warriors on Earth. Don Mann knows what it takes to be a brother in this ultra-selective fraternity. As a member of Seal Team Six for over eight years and a SEAL for over seventeen years, he worked in countless covert operations, operating from land, sea, and air, and facing shootings, decapitations, and stabbings. He was captured by the enemy and lived to tell the tale, and he participated in highly classified missions all over the globe, including Somalia, Panama, El Salvador, Colombia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. As a coordinator for several civilian SEAL training programs, and as a former Training Officer of SEAL Team Six, he was directly responsible for shaping the bodies and minds of SEALs who carried out the assassination of Osama bin Laden. But to become a SEAL, Mann had to overcome his own troubled childhood and push his body to its breaking point -- and beyond. Inside Seal Team 6 is a high octane narrative of physical and mental toughness, giving unprecedented insight to the inner workings of the training and secret missions of the world's most respected and feared combat unit.

Download or read book Broken Man Rebuilt by God written by LeRon Robinson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-07-17 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are all born into love, but when and where does one actually learn how to properly love in life without finding themselves lost in what life's obstacles are at each given moment? This is a tale of a man who was involved in many different aspects of love, never having the chance to properly find it in the rarest of its essence the right way how God intended it to be shared. Many detours were taken down a road often traveled by like-minded lost individuals searching for love in all the wrong places, eventually finding that love in its most unique sense is found in an ongoing relationship with Christ first, and anything after that with his blessing will find you. Love is not forced, and it is not physical; it does not hurt, nor does it have a face. Love is love, and when you assume you have it before you allow yourself to make any long-term decisions, make sure you know which love it is you are in. This journal is a reminder that life gives back to you what you give to it, and it is not always fair in the game we call love.
