Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taking a Fresh Look at Education: Framing Professional Learning in Education through Self-Study examines the use of self-study in professional learning through justice in education, collaboration, teacher education, and the concept of a Professional Working Theory. Justice in education includes research on pedagogy in inclusive practices, on social justice issues within a doctoral program through the lens of critical race theory, and on indigenous epistemologies and experiences. Collaboration can be seen across several chapters as an integral part of teacher education, and is discussed specifically in chapters addressing research on praxis inquiry within Active Group Practice (a collaborative dynamic) – and on collaboration as a critical aspect of self-study research by teachers addressing efficacy of practice for students with significant disabilities. Included in the discussion on teacher education is research on the beliefs and practices of mid- and later-career literacy/English teacher educators. Professional Working Theory (PWT) addresses the critical aspects of teacher knowledge, experience, and ethics. Specifically, this book includes research on examining the process involved in developing a PWT, on the development of teacher identity of preservice teachers through their engagement in creating PWTs, and on the process of and reflections on developing PWTs with teacher educators and U.A.E. and U.S.A. graduate students within the context of literacy and special education. This book brings to the fore the work of Mary C. Dalmau as a teacher educator whose career embodies the values of inclusion across educational settings, the empowerment of teachers, and the importance of ethics in educational decision making.

Book A Fresh Look at Genesis 1 2

Download or read book A Fresh Look at Genesis 1 2 written by Gary W Schneider and published by Rio Pindo Publishing, LLC. This book was released on 2021-03-15 with total page 1132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of this book’s main themes is how God’s ‘Book of Nature’ is concordant with His ‘Book of Scripture’. In their writings, many of the pioneers of the Scientific Revolution often referred to God’s two ‘Books’. These brilliant naturalists were also devout Christians. But that was back then. Is modern science actually compatible with Scripture? More to the point, are the findings of 21st-century science concordant with the Genesis creation story? What else does the text of Genesis 1-2 have to say? While making an honest effort to answer those questions, some vitally-important theological concepts (which were introduced by Moses in the first two chapters of Genesis) are also examined and discussed in this volume. This comprehensive study (on how modern science is concordant with the intended meaning of the text of Genesis 1-2) has many useful features, including the following: Much of the first two parts of the book consists of background material on: (1) logic, (2) history and philosophy of science, and (3) ‘scientific method’, as well as (4) basic geological principles, (5) descriptions of Plate Tectonic theory, and (6) the principles and methods of radiometric dating. This background material is designed to help the reader to understand the implications of the empirical evidence presented in Part Two: God’s Book of Nature. Similarly, there is also extensive material on: (1) Biblical interpretation and hermeneutics, (2) textual criticism, (3) the history of ancient Israel, (4) development of the Hebrew language, and (5) some of the basic elements of Biblical Hebrew. This material is given prior to looking at the literary structure and genre of the Genesis 1-2 text, and then conducting thorough and complete exegetical analyses of the various textual units of Genesis 1-2 in Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture. Prior to the exegetical analyses for each of the textual units of Genesis 1-2, (1) the Biblical Hebrew text, (2) a standard English translation, and (3) an Interlinear version of the text of that unit are provided. The Interlinear version consists of (a) the Hebrew text, with (b) SBL transliterations and (c) English glosses below each one of the Hebrew words. Color coding and other types of annotations/highlighting are used throughout Part Four: God’s Book of Scripture, in order to help the reader identify important Biblical Hebrew elements, including recurring phrases, important BH words, and key BHVS verb forms. There are more than 2000 detailed footnotes. Many of these footnotes also cross-reference other topics in the book to make it easier for the reader to refer back to a discussion of some important theme or concept. Excerpts from the entries of reputable Hebrew and Greek lexicons (for words written in the original languages of the Biblical text) are also footnoted. An Appendix is included with a Key to Transliteration and Pronunciation for Biblical Hebrew graphemes; it also has a short section on Biblical Hebrew Accent Markings. Numerous detailed, colored figures are sprinkled throughout the text. In many of these figures, the artwork itself is worth the inexpensive price of the digital edition of this book. Part Six: The Good News is worth reading as a stand-alone exposition of God’s Grace, but it also helps put the rest of the book in context. Although the most common (and logical) way to read A Fresh Look at Genesis 1-2 is from start to finish, this 1100-page book was also intended to be used as a reference work. Footnotes direct the reader back to pertinent material in preceding chapters that might not have been read already (or that readers might want to revisit, in order to refresh their memory on some topic). Book Making OTC Derivatives Safe A Fresh Look

Download or read book Making OTC Derivatives Safe A Fresh Look written by Mr.Manmohan Singh and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2011-03-01 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent regulatory efforts, especially in the U.S. and Europe, are aimed at reducing moral hazard so that the next financial crisis is not bailed out by tax payers. This paper looks at the possibility that central counterparties (CCPs) may be too-big-to-fail entities in the making. The present regulatory and reform efforts may not remove the systemic risk from OTC derivatives but rather shift them from banks to CCPs. Under the present regulatory overhaul, the OTC derivative market could become more fragmented. Furthermore, another taxpayer bailout cannot be ruled out. A reexamination of the two key issues of (i) the interoperability of CCPs, and (ii) the cost of moving to CCPs with access to central bank funding, indicates that the proposed changes may not provide the best solution. The paper suggests that a tax on derivative liabilities could make the OTC derivatives market safer, particularly in the transition to a stable clearing infrastructure. It also suggests reconsideration of a "public utility" model for the OTC market infrastructure.

Book A Fresh Look at Confession

Download or read book A Fresh Look at Confession written by David M. Knight and published by Twenty-Third Publications. This book was released on 2013 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Knight was forty years a priest before he learned that priests don't hear sins in confession. "What you are really revealing is your ideals," he says. "The real you has a different set of ideals, reflecting your heart instead of your lapses. This 'you' abides with God." With these words Father Knight reveals that A Fresh Look at Confession is unlike anything you may have read about the sacrament. He speaks about the heart of confession, its meaning and mystery, and why it is so necessary for authentic followers of Christ. This is deep theology, explained in clear language. But it's also much more: Father Knight's moving, intensely personal account of his own journey as a sinner takes readers beyond theory and into the awe-inspiring reality of our complete redemption in Jesus, who does not just forgive, but who "takes away" the sins of the world. From a varied background as missionary, teacher, pastor, professor, retreat director, and campus minister, Father Knight's ministry has come to focus on making mystical experience commonplace in conscious Christian living. Book A Fresh Look at Psychoanalytic Technique

Download or read book A Fresh Look at Psychoanalytic Technique written by Fred Busch and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-08-23 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of selected papers explores psychoanalytic technique, exemplifying Fred Busch’s singular contribution to this subject, alongside the breadth and depth of his work. Covering key topics such as what is unique about psychoanalysis, interpretation, psychic truth, the role of memory and the importance of the analyst's reveries, this book brings together the author's most important work on this subject for the first time. Taken as a whole, Busch’s work has provided an updated Freudian model for a curative process through psychoanalysis, along with the techniques to accomplish this. Meticulous in providing the theoretical underpinnings for their conclusions, these essays depict how Busch, as a humanist, has continuously championed what in retrospect seems basic to psychoanalytic technique but which has not always been at the forefront of our thinking: the patient’s capacity to hear, understand and emotionally feel interventions. Presenting a deep appreciation for Freudian theory, this book also integrates the work of analysts from Europe and Latin America, which has been prevalent in his recent work. Comprehensive and clear, these works focus on clinical issues, providing numerous examples of work with patients whilst also presenting concise explanations of the theoretical background. In giving new meaning to basic principles of technique and in reviving older methods with a new focus, A Fresh Look at Psychoanalytic Technique will be of great interest to psychoanalysts and psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapists.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Goldberg uses the questions posed by self psychology as point of entry to a thoughtful consideration of issues with which every clinician wrestles: the scientific status analysis, the relationships among its competing theories, the role of empathy in analytic method, and the place of the "self" in the analyst's explanatory strategies. Clinical chapters show how the notion of the self can provide organizing insights into little-appreciated character structures.

Book Blackwhite America A Fresh Look at Whites and Blacks Living Fitfully Together for 393 Years

Download or read book Blackwhite America A Fresh Look at Whites and Blacks Living Fitfully Together for 393 Years written by Bill Orr and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-10-04 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing history to life, Blackwhite America chronicles the racial struggle since America's origins. Told in the first-person, present-tense voice of Thomas Jefferson, it is a story of stories, each one reliving a time of important change and decision-making. Orr takes an open-minded, well-researched, fresh look at how American whites and blacks lived fitfully together under common governments, from arrival of the first blacks to reelection of Barack Obama-1619-2012. Orr seeks insights to questions he poses at the outset: If the purpose of the Civil War was to free the slaves, why did it take more than a century and a half for blacks to get as close as we are now to equal rights? How far have we all come, really? When, if ever, will we get there? Where is "there?" Blackwhite America details the evolution of America's growth toward emancipation, the progress of civil rights, and the hope of racial equality.
