Her brother, Jordan, is responsible for this unfortunate event. At first, he is unsure what to do. Eventually, he prays for God to send his sister a new dog she could love, and one that could never get lost again. God sends an angel on a mission, and the angel picks out a stuffed dog that he blesses to bring comfort to the little girl. Jordan decides to give Tiffany the special stuffed animal as a Christmas present. The young girl instantly loves the stuffed dog and names him Woo Woo. The stuffed dog never leaves her side, and the two of them, along with Jordan, go on many adventures together. These stories are dedicated to my daughter Tiffany, who passed away in a car accident in October 2021. She is forever missed. My daughter was a big fan of movies and shows on television. She loved stories. Hopefully, through Tales of Woo Woo, her memory will live on forever.

Book Tails of the Smokies

Download or read book Tails of the Smokies written by Jim Parks and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-02-03 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Driving toward the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you may decide to take one of the numerous backroads to avoid the traffic of the more touristy areas. One of those backroads, Highway 15, takes you across the Harvey "Pop" Powell Memorial Bridge, where Homer is selling copies of the Laurel Cove Banner for a quarter, and through the fictional town of Laurel Cove, population 278. Laurel Cove has one traffic light, really a flashing yellow light, slowing down visitors. Otherwise, you may miss the whittlin' bench in front of Webb's Grocery or Boots' Barber Shop, owned by the only barber and one of several part-time moonshiners in town. Further down Main Street, you turn left at the light in front of First Fidelity Bank, once robbed by Public Enemy Number 1, John Dillinger, and onto Church Street. After crossing Big Bear Fork, Reverend Mitchell waves as you notice the sign shows Sunday's sermon, "The Prodigal Son." Most residents know the sign is referencing Dr. Jay McMahan, fresh out of medical school, who grew up in Laurel Cove and is now returning home to assume the role of retiring Doc Hembree. Also, welcoming Jay is his best friend from birth, Dillon Webb. As the two friends resume their friendship and love for fly-fishing, they remember their first trip to Big Creek where Dillon's grandfather, Pop Powell, taught them to catch trout. As Jay and Dillon continue their trips into the mountains, they do so surrounded by the unique characters and humorous events that can only transpire in a small town on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Book excerpt: While doing research for a college term paper, Joe Howe, a young paralegal student, discovers a shocking truth about the American presidential electoral process. A bold faced lie taught in our schools followed by a charade of an election in adult life and the tragic results long forgotten in history. The real power of electing the President lies not with the people as popularly thought, but rather with a band of nameless, faceless, unaccountable politicians known as the Electoral College. Unable to persuade anyone already in power to address this fatal flaw, Joe Howe decides to run a pseudo-campaign for congress in hopes of drawing attention to the problem. But when the incumbent congressman dies just before the primary election, his pseudo-campaign suddenly turns real. The Gambit is an entertaining story of a young and naïve man's odyssey into the strange world of modern day politics, a lesson in untaught history and a warning of a great constitutional crisis destined to befall us if not resolved.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking for a sweet, soothing tale to waft you toward dreamland? Look somewhere else. The stories collected by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm in the early 1800s serve up life as generations of central Europeans knew it--capricious and often cruel. The two brothers, patriots determined to preserve Germanic folktales, were only accidental entertainers. Once they saw how the tales bewitched young readers, the Grimms, and editors aplenty after them, started "fixing" things. Tales gradually got softer, sweeter, and primly moral. Yet all the polishing never rubbed away the solid heart of the stories. In this edition you can find next stories
