Book Smithsonian Mathematical Formulae and Tables of Elliptic Functions Classic Reprint

Download or read book Smithsonian Mathematical Formulae and Tables of Elliptic Functions Classic Reprint written by Edwin P. Adams and published by . This book was released on 2016-07-19 with total page 696 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Smithsonian Mathematical Formulae and Tables of Elliptic Functions The original object of this collection of mathematical formulae was to bring together, compactly, some of the more useful results of mathematical analysis for the benefit of those who regard mathematics as a tool, and not as an end in itself. There are many such results that are difficult to remember, for one who is not constantly using them, and to find them one is obliged to look through a number of books which may not immediately be accessible. A collection of formulae, to meet the Object of the present one, must be largely a matter of individual selection; for this reason this volume is issued in an interleaved edition, so that additions, meeting individual needs, may be made, and be readily available for reference. Book Tables of Physical and Chemical Constants and Some Mathematical Functions Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2018-01-04 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Tables of Physical and Chemical Constants and Some Mathematical Functions It is remarkable in how few cases the physical properties of pure, commonly occurring chemical compounds are known with accuracy: the task of augmenting (not always with discrimination) already overburdened families of organic compounds receives much greater attention. Book Logarithmic Tables of Numbers and Trigonometrical Functions Classic Reprint

Download or read book Logarithmic Tables of Numbers and Trigonometrical Functions Classic Reprint written by Georg Vega and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-26 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Logarithmic Tables of Numbers and Trigonometrical Functions To facilitate the interpolation, small tables of proportional parts have been added in the first and third parts. The use of smaller type has enabled us to give them completely even in the first pages for every difference. These tables give accurately the tenths of the whole difference, so that the addition of the tenths hun dredths and thousandths gives the proportional part correct to the last figure which is not the case with the usual arrangement. According to a very common arrangement the same small table of proportional parts has to be used for the whole extent of the table in its vicinity, without reference to the difference whether it be an unit more or less; but this has been rejected as inaccurate. In the third part want of space has prevented all the differences from being given; at the commencement, i. E. Beginning at'50, those only could be inserted which differed by 10 units, then those dif feting by 5, by 3 etc., while finally, from each difference is set down. The advantages which these tables afford in interpolation, will be best appreciated by those, who have felt their want in all other tables. Download or read book Applied Probability written by Kenneth Lange and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-10-20 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the fears of university mathematics departments, mathematics educat, ion is growing rather than declining. But the truth of the matter is that the increases are occurring outside departments of mathematics. Engineers, computer scientists, physicists, chemists, economists, statis- cians, biologists, and even philosophers teach and learn a great deal of mathematics. The teaching is not always terribly rigorous, but it tends to be better motivated and better adapted to the needs of students. In my own experience teaching students of biostatistics and mathematical bi- ogy, I attempt to convey both the beauty and utility of probability. This is a tall order, partially because probability theory has its own vocabulary and habits of thought. The axiomatic presentation of advanced probability typically proceeds via measure theory. This approach has the advantage of rigor, but it inwitably misses most of the interesting applications, and many applied scientists rebel against the onslaught of technicalities. In the current book, I endeavor to achieve a balance between theory and app- cations in a rather short compass. While the combination of brevity apd balance sacrifices many of the proofs of a rigorous course, it is still cons- tent with supplying students with many of the relevant theoretical tools. In my opinion, it better to present the mathematical facts without proof rather than omit them altogether.
