Book Control of Distributed Parameter Systems

Download or read book Control of Distributed Parameter Systems written by S. P. Banks and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-18 with total page 554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control of Distributed Parameter Systems covers the proceedings of the Second IFAC Symposium, Coventry, held in Great Britain from June 28 to July 1, 1977. The book focuses on the methodologies, processes, and techniques in the control of distributed parameter systems, including boundary value control, digital transfer matrix, and differential equations. The selection first discusses the asymptotic methods in the optimal control of distributed systems; applications of distributed parameter control theory of a survey; and dual variational inequalities for external eigenvalue problems. The book also ponders on stochastic differential equations in Hilbert space and their application to delay systems and linear quadratic optimal control problem over an infinite time horizon for a class of distributed parameter systems. The manuscript investigates the semigroup approach to boundary value control and stability of nonlinear distributed parameter systems. Topics include boundary control action implemented through a dynamical system; classical boundary value controls; stability of nonlinear systems; and feedback control on the boundary. The text also focuses on the functional analysis interpretation of Lyapunov stability; method of multipliers for a class distributed parameter systems; and digital transfer matrix approach to distributed system simulation. The selection is a dependable source of data for readers interested in the control of distributed parameter systems.

Book Energy Simulation in Building Design

Download or read book Energy Simulation in Building Design written by Joseph Clarke and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2007-11-02 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the appearance of the first edition of 'Energy Simulation in Building Design', the use of computer-based appraisal tools to solve energy design problems within buildings has grown rapidly. A leading figure in this field, Professor Joseph Clarke has updated his book throughout to reflect these latest developments. The book now includes material on combined thermal/lighting and CFD simulation, advanced glazings, indoor air quality and photovoltaic components. This thorough revision means that the book remains the key text on simulation for architects, building engineering consultants and students of building engineering and environmental design of buildings. The book's purpose is to help architects, mechanical & environmental engineers and energy & facility managers to understand and apply the emerging computer methods for options appraisal at the individual building, estate, city, region and national levels. This is achieved by interspersing theoretical derivations relating to simulation within an evolving description of the built environment as a complex system. The premise is that the effective application of any simulation tool requires a thorough understanding of the domain it addresses.

Book Rudiments of Signal Processing and Systems

Download or read book Rudiments of Signal Processing and Systems written by Tom J. Moir and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-11-18 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to be a little different from other books in its coverage. There are a great many digital signal processing (DSP) books and signals and systems books on the market. Since most undergraduate courses begin with signals and systems and then move on in later years to DSP, I felt a need to combine the two into one book that was concise yet not too overburdening. This means that students need only purchase one book instead of two and at the same time see the flow of knowledge from one subject into the next. Like the rudiments of music, it starts at the very beginning with some elementary knowledge and builds on it chapter by chapter to advanced work by chapter 15. I have been teaching now for 38 years and always think it necessary to credit the pioneers of the subjects we teach and ask the question “How did we get to this present stage in technological achievement”? Therefore, in Chapter 1 I have given a concise history trying to not sway too much away from the subject area. This is followed by the rudimentary theory in increasing complexity. It has already been taught successfully to a class at Auckland University of Technology New Zealand.
