Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tables are presented of elliptic integrals of the first and second kinds as functions of the modulus (k) and modulus squared for values of the amplitude ranging from phi = 5 degrees to phi = 90 degrees, inclusive, and values of k and k squared between 0 and 1.0. Tables of the elliptic integral of the third kind are given. The ranges of k and phi are as above, while the range of alpha squared extends from alpha squared = -1.0 to alpha squared = +1.0.
Download or read book Handbook of Elliptic Integrals for Engineers and Physicists written by Paul F. Byrd and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineers and physicists are more and more encountering integrations involving nonelementary integrals and higher transeendental functions. Such integrations frequently involve (not always in immediately re cognizable form) elliptic functions and elliptic integrals. The numerous books written on elliptic integrals, while of great value to the student or mathematician, are not especially suitable for the scientist whose primary objective is the ready evaluation of the integrals that occur in his practical problems. As a result, he may entirely avoid problems which lead to elliptic integrals, or is likely to resort to graphical methods or other means of approximation in dealing with all but the siruplest of these integrals. It became apparent in the course of my work in theoretical aero dynamics that there was a need for a handbook embodying in convenient form a comprehensive table of elliptic integrals together with auxiliary formulas and numerical tables of values. Feeling that such a book would save the engineer and physicist much valuable time, I prepared the present volume.
Download or read book Table of Integrals Series and Products written by I. S. Gradshteyn and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 1207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Table of Integrals, Series, and Products provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of integrals, series, and products. This book provides a comprehensive table of integrals. Organized into 17 chapters, this book begins with an overview of elementary functions and discusses the power of binomials, the exponential function, the logarithm, the hyperbolic function, and the inverse trigonometric function. This text then presents some basic results on vector operators and coordinate systems that are likely to be useful during the formulation of many problems. Other chapters consider inequalities that range from basic algebraic and functional inequalities to integral inequalities and fundamental oscillation and comparison theorems for ordinary differential equations. This book discusses as well the important part played by integral transforms. The final chapter deals with Fourier and Laplace transforms that provides so much information about other integrals. This book is a valuable resource for mathematicians, engineers, scientists, and research workers.

Download or read book A Guide to Mathematical Tables written by N. M. Burunova and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-09 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Guide to Mathematical Tables is a supplement to the Guide to Mathematical Tables published by the U.S.S.R. Academy of Sciences in 1956. The tables contain information on subjects such as powers, rational and algebraic functions, and trigonometric functions, as well as logarithms and polynomials and Legendre functions. An index listing all functions included in both the Guide and the Supplement is included. Comprised of 15 chapters, this supplement first describes mathematical tables in the following order: the accuracy of the table (that is, the number of decimal places or significant figures); the limits of variation of the argument and the interval of the table; and the serial number of the book or journal in the reference material. The second part gives the author, title, publishing house, and date and place of publication for books, and the name of the journal, year of publication, series, volume and number, page and author and title of the article cited for journals. Topics range from exponential and hyperbolic functions to factorials, Euler integrals, and related functions. Sums and quantities related to finite differences are also tabulated. This book will be of interest to mathematicians and mathematics students.

Download or read book Groundwater and Seepage written by Milton E. Harr and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2012-12-04 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The movement of groundwater is a basic part of soil mechanics. It is an important part of almost every area of civil engineering, agronomy, geology, irrigation, and reclamation. Moreover, the logical structure of its theory appeals to engineering scientists and applied mathematicians. This book aims primarily at providing the engineer with an organized and analytical approach to the solutions of seepage problems and an understanding of the design and analysis of earth structures that impound water. It can be used for advanced courses in civil, hydraulic, agricultural, and foundation engineering, and will prove useful to consulting engineers — or any public or private agency responsible for building or maintaining water storage or control systems. Among the special features of this book are its coverage of previously unavailable Russian work in the field, an extensive appendix of concepts in advanced engineering mathematics needed to deal with physical flow systems, and numerous completely worked-out and solved examples coupled with over 200 problems of varying difficulty.
