Book excerpt: God has incredible rewards waiting for His people. Jesus Christ taught that all Christians should seek to be rewarded when we enter heaven. We will receive our rewards from God based on our actions on earth. As we know, these actions cannot earn us heaven. That only occurs by grace, through faith. However, on our first day in heaven our earthly actions, after salvation, are evaluated by God in order to determine the magnificent rewards He will give us. Did you know that the Bible describes our rewards and the exact actions we are to carry out in order to receive them? In the New Testament, the apostle Paul uses the Old Testament examples of the Tabernacle and Day of Atonement ceremony to teach us which actions, called gifts, we can bring to God for our rewards. Paul also teaches us that the Tabernacle and the Day of Atonement conceal the secret of what our first day in heaven will be like. We work hard in this life to retire well. Yet earthly retirement lasts for a short time. Our life in heaven will last for an eternity. Don't you want it to be a well-rewarded time?

Book What Are Spiritual Gifts

Download or read book What Are Spiritual Gifts written by Kenneth Berding and published by Kregel Publications. This book was released on with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians have tried to discover their spiritual gifts only to find the process frustrating and complicated. Rarely in our search do we actually ask what should be our central question: What are spiritual gifts? Kenneth Berding believes we have misunderstood spiritual gifts, which has led to a misguided search. His convincing and readable study suggests that the Holy Spirit does not give special abilities (the conventional view), but rather calls us and places us into various ministries to build up and strengthen the body of Christ. - Back cover.

Book God at Work

Book excerpt: When you understand it properly, the doctrine of vocation—"doing everything for God's glory"—is not a platitude or an outdated notion. This principle that we vaguely apply to our lives and our work is actually the key to Christian ethics, to influencing our culture for Christ, and to infusing our ordinary, everyday lives with the presence of God. For when we realize that the "mundane" activities that consume most of our time are "God's hiding places," our perspective changes. Culture expert Gene Veith unpacks the biblical, Reformation teaching about the doctrine of vocation, emphasizing not what we should specifically do with our time or what careers we are called to, but what God does in and through our callings—even within the home. In each task He has given us—in our workplaces and families, our churches and society—God Himself is at work. Veith guides you to discover God's purpose and calling in those seemingly ordinary areas by providing you with a spiritual framework for thinking about such issues and for acting upon them with a changed perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

Book Liturgy as a Way of Life The Church and Postmodern Culture

Download or read book Liturgy as a Way of Life The Church and Postmodern Culture written by Bruce Ellis Benson and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2013-04-15 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do the arts inform and cultivate our service to God? In this addition to an award-winning series, distinguished philosopher Bruce Ellis Benson rethinks what it means to be artistic. Rather than viewing art as practiced by the few, he recovers the ancient Christian idea of presenting ourselves to God as works of art, reenvisioning art as the very core of our being: God calls us to improvise as living works of art. Benson also examines the nature of liturgy and connects art and liturgy in a new way. This book will appeal to philosophy, worship/liturgy, art, music, and theology students as well as readers interested in engaging issues of worship and aesthetics in a postmodern context, including Christian artists and worship leaders.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the many years that our Lord Jesus Christ has given me, I have served as a businessman, humanitarian, missionary, evangelist, pastor, and teacher. In service to humanity, I spent a season as a councilman, working to improve our city, Crystal River, Florida, where I now call home. As a member of Rotary International, I served as president of one of the local Rotary clubs and later as governor of District 6950 located on the west coast of Florida. In this position, I collaborated with missionaries in Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, overseeing humanitarian projects. For this part of my journey, I received from Rotary International their highest award, "Service above Self." I receive Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of thirty-two, after I was told that I had little time to live because of lung disease. After Bible college, my wife, Linda, and I traveled to Harlingen, Texas, to do mission work in Mexico. During this time, my health returned, and I started the study of the Tabernacle of Moses. After this period, we traveled throughout Texas as an evangelist, and for family reasons, we then moved to Florida. Over the years, I have pastored a church, did evangelistic work, and taught this study at the Revelation School of Ministry.
