Book Structural Dynamics

Download or read book Structural Dynamics written by Mario Paz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-07-31 with total page 852 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of COSMOS for the analysis and solution of structural dynamics problems is introduced in this new edition. The COSMOS program was selected from among the various professional programs available because it has the capability of solving complex problems in structures, as well as in other engin eering fields such as Heat Transfer, Fluid Flow, and Electromagnetic Phenom ena. COSMOS includes routines for Structural Analysis, Static, or Dynamics with linear or nonlinear behavior (material nonlinearity or large displacements), and can be used most efficiently in the microcomputer. The larger version of COSMOS has the capacity for the analysis of structures modeled up to 64,000 nodes. This fourth edition uses an introductory version that has a capability limited to 50 nodes or 50 elements. This version is included in the supplement, STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS USING COSMOS 1. The sets of educational programs in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering that accompanied the third edition have now been extended and updated. These sets include programs to determine the response in the time or frequency domain using the FFf (Fast Fourier Transform) of structures modeled as a single oscillator. Also included is a program to determine the response of an inelastic system with elastoplastic behavior and a program for the development of seismic response spectral charts. A set of seven computer programs is included for modeling structures as two-dimensional and three dimensional frames and trusses.

Book bookdown

    Book Details:
  • Author : Yihui Xie
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2016-12-12
  • ISBN : 1351792601
  • Pages : 140 pages

Download or read book bookdown written by Yihui Xie and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-12-12 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: bookdown: Authoring Books and Technical Documents with R Markdown presents a much easier way to write books and technical publications than traditional tools such as LaTeX and Word. The bookdown package inherits the simplicity of syntax and flexibility for data analysis from R Markdown, and extends R Markdown for technical writing, so that you can make better use of document elements such as figures, tables, equations, theorems, citations, and references. Similar to LaTeX, you can number and cross-reference these elements with bookdown. Your document can even include live examples so readers can interact with them while reading the book. The book can be rendered to multiple output formats, including LaTeX/PDF, HTML, EPUB, and Word, thus making it easy to put your documents online. The style and theme of these output formats can be customized. We used books and R primarily for examples in this book, but bookdown is not only for books or R. Most features introduced in this book also apply to other types of publications: journal papers, reports, dissertations, course handouts, study notes, and even novels. You do not have to use R, either. Other choices of computing languages include Python, C, C++, SQL, Bash, Stan, JavaScript, and so on, although R is best supported. You can also leave out computing, for example, to write a fiction. This book itself is an example of publishing with bookdown and R Markdown, and its source is fully available on GitHub.

Book Theory and Design of Terabit Optical Fiber Transmission Systems

Download or read book Theory and Design of Terabit Optical Fiber Transmission Systems written by Stefano Bottacchi and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-10-02 with total page 1299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive, modular treatment of the challenging issues involved in very high-speed optical transmission systems contains all the theory and practical design criteria required to optimise transmission system design. Each chapter covers the theoretical modelling of a given system; chapters are well supported by real-world worked examples and accompanied by MATLAB code and receiver design examples. Critical analysis and comparison of engineering solutions is presented, to make clear the principles underlying system performance optimisation, and a broad range of transmission systems is discussed, including the status and performance demands of the Terabit systems now entering the next generation market. Blending theoretical and practical considerations for high-speed fibre optic systems design, this is an indispensable reference for all forward-looking professionals and researchers in optical communications.

Download or read book Estuaries of South America written by Gerardo M.E. Perillo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The original idea of this book started when we were making a residual fluxes study of the Paranagua Coastal Lagoon (Brazil) near the colonial town of Guaraque~aba.Among the beautiful mangroves of this Brazilian National Park, between profile and profile, we wondered why South American estuaries were little known in the international arena. Besides, most of the papers published in the literature are based on biological research. Practically nothing is known about their geomorphology and dynamics. That night, while we were walking along the hilly streets of the town, we decided that the only way to have an idea about the degree of advance in the geomorphology and dynamics of our estuaries was to ask the proper South American researchers to write review articles about the estuaries in which they were working or about the gen eral state of the art of the Geomorphology and Physical Oceanography of the estuar ies of his/her country. The book grew from then on. Although initially many scien tists offer to write a chapter, we ran into the same problem these researchers have to publish in journals, they felt that their English was not good enough and withdrew. However, we are very satisfy about the number and quality of the contributions which also passed a very strong review process.
