It’s a mixture of On the Road (without the booze, hookers, guns, and poverty) and Rick Reilly’s Who’s Your Caddy? (with John Daly keeping his private parts to himself).” Along the way he tells some of the world’s greatest golf stories—funny, touching, bizarre, and sometimes personal—from his rounds with Arnold Palmer to his hole in one in the Chinese town where his daughter was born. Download or read book Eat Sleep Work Repeat written by Bruce Daisley and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “An important reminder of simple everyday practices to improve how we all work together, which will lead to greater team and individual happiness and performance. Great results will follow.”—Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter and Square “With just 30 changes, you can transform your work experience from bland and boring (or worse) to fulfilling, fun, and even joyful.”—Daniel Pink, author of When and Drive The vice president of Twitter Europe and host of the top business podcast Eat Sleep Work Repeat offers thirty smart, research-based hacks for bringing joy and fun back into our burned out, uninspired work lives. How does a lunch break spark a burst of productivity? Can a team’s performance be improved simply by moving the location of the coffee maker? Why are meetings so often a waste of time, and how can a walking meeting actually get decisions made? As an executive with decades of management experience at top Silicon Valley companies including YouTube, Google, and Twitter, Bruce Daisley has given a lot of thought to what makes a workforce productive and what factors can improve the workplace to benefit a company’s employees, customers, and bottom line. In his debut book, he shares what he’s discovered, offering practical, often counterintuitive, insights and solutions for reinvigorating work to give us more meaning, productivity, and joy at the office. A Gallup survey of global workers revealed shocking news: only 13% of employees are engaged in their jobs. This means that burn out and unhappiness at work are a reality for the vast majority of workers. Managers—and employees themselves—can make work better. Eat Sleep Work Repeat shows them how, offering more than two dozen research-backed, user-friendly strategies, including: Go to Lunch (it makes you less tired over the weekend) Suggest a Tea Break (it increases team cohesiveness and productivity) Conduct a Pre-Mortem (foreseeing possible issues can prevent problems and creates a spirit of curiosity and inquisitiveness) “Let’s start enjoying our jobs again,” Daisley insists. “It’s time to rediscover the joy of work.”
Download or read book Golf Being from the Center written by Dennis Lenell and published by Dennis Lenell. This book was released on 2020-03-31 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studying and practicing meditation for more than 50 years, starting at age 17, the author presents a method to perfect the golf swing guided by one's center of gravity. Having lived in a zen monastery, studied martial arts, physics, and ways to higher consciousness, it is all condensed here in a way that is unique to golf and the standard practice of "meditation." From the view of this book, so-called physical fitness today is only skin-deep robotics. It has no idea of internal mental control of movements by the right breathing and focus on center. Here, golf swing theory and meditation are displayed on a scientific basis both physically and mentally. It displays the fusion of mind and body by breathing and the alchemy of one-pointed concentration. This is for performance minded individuals wanting the laser focus to achieve their aims, whether on the golf course or in the pursuit of perfection in general. Centering has life-changing potential. Power in the physical world comes from motion in balance. This is done by hacking the human center of gravity and being from the center.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many golfers would agree with Andy Brumer that there is poetry in the game of golf. And Brumer is not the first to insist that there is more to the game than the superstars, swing gurus, and high-tech equipment that dominate talk of the game today. In this series of essays, Brumer, one of the most insightful writers on golf, considers the game from unexpected and often surprising angles. At once contemplative and compelling, The Poetics of Golf explores the links between golf and life by way of art and literature, philosophy and psychology. In portraits of various players?including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Annika Sorenstam, and Arnold Palmer, among others?Brumer teases out the truths that their games can tell us, not just about golf, but about character and courage. And he also offers an unconventional yet enlightening look at the intricacies of the golf swing, course architecture, and golfing equipment. Finally, his book reveals to us?in its content and also in its wide-ranging, often lyrical style?that golf is by no means only a game.

Download or read book The Looney s Grotto written by James Gordon and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2002-07-29 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Looney’s Grotto is an action/adventure with a gothic horror twist. This is a decadent and depraved tale whereby the victim becomes the predator. He invents an estranged underworld for his animals and ally. When the victim becomes the predator he literally enslaves his adversaries, refers to them as animals, and treats them as such. They in return referred to him as the looney, but never in his presence. The looney acquires an ally that was so mistreated by two of the animals that she became slightly deranged. She seeks payback by assiting the looney in reprimanding the animals in various unique forms of chastening and discipline. Most of which were considered appropriate in years past, but would be frowned upon in our so-called civilized world. The obstacles he has to overcome are many, as well as heroic in nature. Self-sacrifice and determination play a large part in his journey toward his goal.
