Book The Western Cree MASKI PITON S BAND Maskepetoon Broken Arm of PLAINS CREE v 1 to 1870

Download or read book The Western Cree MASKI PITON S BAND Maskepetoon Broken Arm of PLAINS CREE v 1 to 1870 written by Joachim Fromhold and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-05-04 with total page 569 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MASKI PITON, or Broken Arm, is perhaps the best-known or best publicised Cree Indian Chief, and has had more written about him than any other Chief or historic aboriginal person in Alberta. In spite of this, virtually nothing has been written about - or is known about - his band of the Plains Cree. Much that is known and has been written about him is incomplete and woefully lacking, not having been satisfactorily researched. In fact, the band ranged through a large area from the mountains of the North Saskatchewan to northern Minnesota. In fact, as it turns out, MASKI PITON's band is one of the best documented of the Plains Cree bands and, once we combine the records from Canada and the Untied States, we are able to reconstruct a very accurate record of the history of the band. This is the history of the Band from it's early origins to the reservation period, and is the first documentation of the range of the Plains Cree bands.

This book was released on 2020-04-14 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Flint, Michigan, to Standing Rock, North Dakota, minorities have found themselves losing the battle for clean resources and a healthy environment. This book provides a modern history of such environmental injustices in the United States and Canada. From the 19th-century extermination of the buffalo in the American West to Alaska's Project Chariot (a Cold War initiative that planned to use atomic bombs to blast out a harbor on Eskimo land) to the struggle for recovery and justice in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria in 2017, this book provides readers with an enhanced understanding of how poor and minority people are affected by natural and manmade environmental crises. Written for students as well as the general reader with an interest in social justice and environmental issues, this book traces the relationship between environmental discrimination, race, and class through a comprehensive case history of environmental injustices. Environmental Racism in the United States and Canada: Seeking Justice and Sustainability includes 50 such case studies that range from local to national to international crises.
