Book Electrochemical Studies of Macrocyclic Complexes as Synthetic Porphyrin Analogs

Download or read book Electrochemical Studies of Macrocyclic Complexes as Synthetic Porphyrin Analogs written by K. M. Kadish and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowledge of biological and catalytic systems develops axiomatically with the associated state of knowledge of basic chemistry. The progress of the basic coordination chemistry of macrocyclic ligands has led to a better understanding of such biological systems as heme proteins, chlorophylls, and vitamin B12 and of catalysts such as fuel cells. The presence of highly conjugated ligands in these systems implies that these ligands lend unusuall properties to the coordinated metals. Macrocycles such as porphyrins and phthalocyanines have been well studied as evidenced by the huge amount of material published on these ligands. There is a growing interest in synthetic macrocycles because of their unique nature in coordinating metals as well as their electron transfer properties in transition metal complexes. The aim of the electrochemical studies was to acquire an understanding of structure-reactivity relationships in synthetic systems and to apply this information to the electron transfer reactivity of naturally occurring macrocycles particularly metalloporphyrins.

Book Synthesis Biological Studies of Macrocyclic Transition Metal Complexes

Download or read book Synthesis Biological Studies of Macrocyclic Transition Metal Complexes written by Rayees Sheikh and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the important facts about the synthesis and biological studies of macrocyclic transition metal complexes. A detailed synthetic discussion of the reaction steps in each mechanism and their relationship with transition metal complexes has been considered. Macrocyclic ligands and their transition metal complexes depends upon the nature of reactants and the corresponding metal ion. The macrocyclic ligand are a growing class of compounds with varying chemistry a wide range of different molecular topologies and set of donor atoms. Aza type ligands appear as very promising to be used as antifertile, antibacterial, antifungal and other biological properties. Macrocyclic metal complexes play a central role in the construction of molecular materials, which display magnetic properties and find applications in material and supramolecular chemistry and biochemistry. It is believed that the present book will provide a succinct and clear introduction to synthesis, characterization and biological studies macrocyclic ligands with transition metal complexes that meets the needs of researchers at a variety of levels in several disciplines.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 26 (thesis year 1981) a total of 11 ,048 theses titles from 24 Canadian and 21 8 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 26 reports theses submitted in 1981, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.
