This book was released on 2014-06-14 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been tremendous interest in charge-transfer complex phenomena because of its wide applications in agricultural, industrial, biological activities, including anti-microbial, sedative, anticonvulsant and anti- in ammatory. Due to their cytotoxic, bactericide, and fungicide properties, CT complexes have found many applications in pharmaceutical industry. Some charge-transfer complexes have also been found to have high electrical conductivity. The objective of this work is to synthesize organic charge-transfer complexes in liquid and solid states and characterize them on the basis of spectroscopic techniques, including FT-IR, NMR, XRD, UV-Vis, Conductivity and Fluorescence spectroscopy. This book has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter is composed of an introduction on charge-transfer complexes, their types, theories and some characterization techniques. The Second, Third and Fourth chapters deal with the synthesis and spectral investigations electron-donor-acceptor-complexes in different polar solvents.

Book Charge Transfer Organic Photoelectrochemistry

Download or read book Charge Transfer Organic Photoelectrochemistry written by Katarzyna Rybicka-Jasińska and published by American Chemical Society. This book was released on 2023-12-08 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At first glance, the theories behind charge transfer and organic photoelectrocatalysis do not seem to have much in common. It turns out, however, that to carry out an effective organic synthesis using photoelectrocatalysis one needs a solid theoretical foundation in charge transfer, which is the topic of this primer. First, the authors introduce the theoretical foundation of charge transfer, focusing on electron transfer and hole transfer and how they relate to photochemistry and electrochemistry. Then, the authors move into applications of photoelectrochemistry in organic synthesis. A series of examples demonstrate the three types of synthetic photoelectrochemistry that have emerged in recent years.

Book Synthesis of Film Forming Electron Accepting Polymers

Download or read book Synthesis of Film Forming Electron Accepting Polymers written by H. K Hall (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Certain organic charge-transfer salts behave as organic or molecular metals and show conductivity. But these salts have weak interactions between the layers of donors and acceptors which make them fragile and difficult to fabricate. The objective of this research was to incorporate electron-poor sites in a polymer chain. After polymerization, these sites can be complexed with appropriate electron-donating compounds, and lead to charge-transfer complex salts that are incorporated in a strong matrix. However, the intermediate to the electron-poor polymers proved to be too difficult to synthesize. (Author).

Book Host Guest Complex Chemistry Macrocycles

Download or read book Host Guest Complex Chemistry Macrocycles written by F. Vögtle and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scientific and practical interest in coronands (crown ethers), cryptands, podands as complexing agents for cations as well as for anions and neutral low molecular species is undeniable 1,2). The chemistry of crown compounds is steadily increasing. About 250 original papers dealing with crown chemistry appeared only in 1980. New molecules· with crown ether properties are constantly synthesized and new applications discov,?red. Owing to lack of space, only a small number of the original publications is men tioned here. Thus, in the literature compilation only some, but relevant works are selected for each chapter. Whenever possible, reference is made to reviews or review-like articles alone by means of which origin,al works can be consulted. The reviews given under ref. 1) are considered to be the most relevant. The formulae presented in the figures should be understood as representative structures outlining a specific field. 2 Classification of Oligo-/Multidentate Neutral Ligands and of their Complexes Today, a distinction is made between the classical ring oligoethers (crown ethers) and monocyclic coronands, oligocyclic spherical cryptands and the acyclic podands with respect to topological aspects 3). This classification and the topology are illustrated in Fig. 1, each figure representing the minimum number of donor atoms and chain segments characteristic of each class of compounds. Multidentate mono cyclic ligands with any type of donor atoms are called coronands ("crown compounds"), while the term crown ether should be reserved for cyclic oligoethers exclusively containing oxygen as donor atom.

Book A Modified Procedure for the Synthesis of Bis phenylenedioxy tetrathiafulvalene BPDO TTF

Download or read book A Modified Procedure for the Synthesis of Bis phenylenedioxy tetrathiafulvalene BPDO TTF written by Debanjan Biswas and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iminium salt dimethyliminium hexafluorophosphate (5), a precursor of the target compound BPDO-TTF, was synthesized in five steps with significant modifications in the previously worked out scheme. 2,3-Dihydrobenzo-1, 4-dioxin (1) was synthesized from catechol in a strongly alkaline medium. Compound (1) was dichlorinated with SO2Cl2 to give 2,3-dichloro-2,3-dihydrobenzo-1,4-dioxin (2). Subsequent reaction of compound (2) with sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate followed by dehydrochlorination in triethyl amine gave 1,4-Benzodioxin-2-N, N-dimethyldithiocarbamate (3). Bromination of compound (3) followed by treatment with hexafluorophosphoric acid yielded bromo-dimethyliminium hexafluorophosphate (4). Dehydrobromination of compound (4) by solid phase thermolysis reaction resulted in dimethyliminium hexafluorophosphate (5). In an effort to prepare BPDO-TTF from a coupling reaction of dithioselenone (7), the dimethyl iminium salt (5) was reacted with NaHSe; however, no pure dithioselenone was isolable from the reaction mixture. A photochemical coupling reaction was also attempted using dimethyl iminium salt (5) and trimethyl phosphite but the desired product did not form in a detectable amount.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS)* at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dis semination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the though that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemi nation. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 37 (thesis year 1992) a total of 12,549 thesis titles from 25 Canadian and 153 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this impor tant annual reference work. While Volume 37 reports theses submitted in 1992, on occasion, certain uni versities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Charge Transfer Processes in Electron donor acceptor Complexes in Solids at Low Temperature

Download or read book Charge Transfer Processes in Electron donor acceptor Complexes in Solids at Low Temperature written by Henry W. Offen and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The charge transfer spectra of several donor-acceptor pairs have been studied at low temperatures by vapor deposition for the benzene-iodine complex and by polymer matrix isolation techniques for other aromatic hhydrocarbons complexed with tetrachlorophthalic anhydride and trinitrofluorenone. The spectra obtained from benzene and iodine sprayed on a cold window showed the characteristic charge transfer absorption band of benzene and iodine centered at about 300 A and approximately 300 A wide. The molecular complexes isolated in polymer matrices were studied at 298 K and 77 K by absorption, luminescence, and excitation spectroscopy. Lowering the temperature increases the intensity of absorption and of luminescence by reducing quenching, but has insignificant effect on the spectral location of the charge transfer band maximum in absorption and fluorescence. Hence the Stokes' shift for the charge transfer process is unaffected over this temperature range. The occurrence of charge transfer fluorescence for a series of donors complexed to the same acceptor is sensitively dependent upon the location of the donor triplet state. The charge transfer interaction enhances the population of the donor triplet state. The excitation spectra show structure and splitting in the charge transfer band. (Author).
