This book was released on 2012-12-31 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past 10 years, the Oil industry in India has seen a tremendous rise in exploration activity with several major E&P companies generating vast amount of new geological and geophysical data. The availability of such integrated data sets (gravity, magnetic, seismic, drilled wells), especially in the deep offshore basins, has led the authors to revisit earlier concepts and models in order to redefine the tectonic framework of major offshore basins along the Indian continental margins. The book covers the stratigraphic evolution, play types and the classification of major offshore basins both in shallow and deepwater environments. - Incorporation of latest dataset (specially the seismic, gravity and magnetic) - Analogy of global offshore basins with India - Sedimentation and depositional history of Bengal fan and Indus fan - Redefinition of major tectonic framework of the margins - Exceleent high quality graphics that include: seismic sections, gravity-magnetic maps, conceptual geological models and new revised tectonic elements

Download or read book Geological Evolution of Ocean Basins written by Ocean Drilling Program and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 1998 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in the field of marine geoscience through the medium of deep-ocean drilling have been rapid and continue to be so. Part of this text reflects the results of findings from recent legs of the Ocean Drilling Programme. Other parts provide syntheses of the volume of drilling information collected over a period of more than 20 years, which provide a detailed picture of how oceans have evolved since the late Mesozoic. The book should be of interest to marine geologists, sedimentologists, palaeoceanographers and structural geologists.

Download or read book Intra oceanic Subduction Systems written by Robert D. Larter and published by Geological Society of London. This book was released on 2003 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recycling of oceanic plate back into the Earth's interior at subduction zones is one of the key processes in Earth evolution. Volcanic arcs, which form above subduction zones, are the most visible manifestations of plate tectonics, the convection mechanism by which the Earth loses excess heat. They are probably also the main location where new continental crust is formed, the so-called 'subduction factory' About 400f modern subduction zones on Earth are intra-oceanic. These subduction systems are generally simpler than those at continental margins as they commonly have a shorter history of subduction and their magmas are not contaminated by ancient sialic crust. They are therefore the optimum locations for studies of mantle processes and magmatic addition to the crust in subduction zones.
