Download or read book Ruthenium Oxidation Complexes written by William P. Griffith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-11-03 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ruthenium Oxidation Complexes explores ruthenium complexes, particularly those in higher oxidation states, which function as useful and selective organic oxidation catalysts. Particular emphasis is placed on those systems which are of industrial significance. The preparation, properties and applications of the ruthenium complexes are described, followed by a presentation of their oxidative properties and summary of the different mechanisms involved in the organic oxidations (e.g. oxidations of alcohols, alkenes, arenes and alkynes, alkanes, amines, ethers, phopshines and miscellaneous substrates). Moreover, future trends and developments in the area are discussed. This monograph is aimed at inorganic, organic, industrial and catalysis chemists, especially those who wish to carry out specific organic oxidations using catalytic methods.

Book Handbook of sol gel science and technology 3 Applications of sol gel technology

Download or read book Handbook of sol gel science and technology 3 Applications of sol gel technology written by Sumio Sakka and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005 with total page 834 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since Dr. Disiich of Germany prepared a glass lens by the sol-gel method around 1970, sol-gel science and technology has continued to develop. Since then this field has seen remarkable technical developments as well as a broadening of the applications of sol-gel science and technology. There is a growing need for a comprehensive reference that treats both the fundamentals and the applications, and this is the aim of "Handbook of Sol-Gel Science and Technology."The primary purpose of sol-gel science and technology is to produce materials, active and non-active including optical, electronic, chemical, sensor, bio- and structural materials. This means that sol-gel science and technology is related to all kinds of manufacturing industries. Thus Volume 1, "Sol-Gel Processing," is devoted to general aspects of processing. Newly developed materials such as organic-inorganic hybrids, photonic crystals, ferroelectric coatings, photocatalysts will be covered. Topics in this volume include: Volume 2, "Characterization of Sol-Gel Materials and Products, "highlights the important fact that useful materials are only produced when characterization is tied to processing. Furthermore, characterization is essential to the understanding of nanostructured materials, and sol-gel technology is a most important technology in this new field. Since nanomaterials display their functional property based on their nano- and micro-structure, "characterization" is very important. Topics found in Volume 2 include: Sol-gel technology is a versatile technology, making it possible to produce a wide variety of materials and to provide existing substances with novel properties. This technology was applied to producingnovel materials, for example organic-inorganic hybrids, which are quite difficult to make by other fabricating techniques, and it was also applied to producing materials based on high temperature superconducting oxides. "Applications of Sol-Gel Technology," (Volume 3), will cover applications such as:

Book Ruthenium II Arene Complexes for Asymmetric Catalysis

Download or read book Ruthenium II Arene Complexes for Asymmetric Catalysis written by Zhenyu Zhu and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the last few years, a significant contribution to the discovery of sp2C−H activation processes and useful applications for cross-coupling C−C bond formation has been achieved by the use of ruthenium(II) arene catalysts. The aim of this thesis is to describe a modular approach for the synthesis of several ruthenium(II) arene complexes with the potential for C−H activation. Another cutting-edge field, catalytic enantioselective functionalization of C−H bonds by transitional metal catalysts, has also been realized within the last few years. It represents a highly atom- and step-economic approach toward the generation of structural complexity. However, the majority of current methodologies rely on the usage of late third- row transition metals such as pallidum, iridium and rhodium. There is a need that motivates the search for cheaper, relative earth abundant metals that could have similar catalytic ability. Herein is also represented a preliminary study of a ruthenium(II)-catalyzed enantioselective access to chromane moiety enabled by chiral transient directing group.

Book Olefin Polymerization

Download or read book Olefin Polymerization written by Walter Kaminsky and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2006-08-18 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With an enormous velocity, olefin polymerization has expanded to one of the most significant fields in polymers since the first industrial use about 50 years ago. In 2005, 100 million tons of polyolefins were produced - the biggest part was catalyzed by metallorganic compounds. The Hamburg Macromolecular Symposium 2005 with the title "Olefin Polymerization" involved topics such as new catalysts and cocatalysts, kinetics, mechanism and polymer reaction engineering, synthesis of special polymers, and characterization of polyolefins. The conference combined scientists from different disciplines to discuss latest research results of polymers and to offer each other the possibility of cooperation. This is reflected in this volume, which contains invited lectures and selected posters presented at the symposium.
