Book Hydrodesulfurization and Hydrodenitrogenation

Download or read book Hydrodesulfurization and Hydrodenitrogenation written by Toshiaki Kabe and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2000-04-13 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of efficient catalysts for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) processes is an essential and urgent research field. During oil refinement the removal of sulfur and nitrogen compounds from petroleum feedstock is crucial, as the emission of sulfur and nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere causes severe environmental problems. In light of the industrial process for hydrocarbons, HDS is indispensable as it eliminates the poisoning of catalysts during hydrotreatment and hydrocracking. In order to develop new catalysts, the mechanism of these reactions as well as the structures and functions of the catalysts need to be elucidated. This book provides an up-to-date and deep insight, which spans kinetic studies, catalytic cycles, structures and properties of catalysts to process engineering. Therefore every chemist and engineer working in this important research field will welcome this valuable source of information.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with sedimentary sulfides which are the most abundant authigenic minerals in sediments. Special emphasis is given to the biogeochemistry that plays such a central role in the formation of sedimentary sulfides. It will be of interest to scientists in a number of disciplines, including geology, microbiology, chemistry and environmental science. The sulfur system is important to environmental scientists considering the present and future effects of pollution and anoxia. The development of the sulfur system – particularly the characteristics of ocean anoxia over the last 200 Ma – is useful in predicting the future fate of the Earth surface system as well as in understanding the past. The biochemistry and microbiology of the sulfur system are key to understanding microbial ecology and the evolution of life. - First monograph on sedimentary sulfides, covering the ancient and modern sedimentary sulfide systems - Comprehensive, integrating chemistry, microbiology, geology and environmental science - All key references are included and discussed

Book Molybdenum as a Paleoredox Proxy

Download or read book Molybdenum as a Paleoredox Proxy written by Stephan R. Hlohowskyj and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-09-09 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Molybdenum (Mo) is a widely used trace metal for investigating redox conditions. However, unanswered questions remain that concentration and bulk isotopic analysis cannot specially answer. Improvements can be made by combining new geochemical techniques to traditional methods of Mo analysis. In this Element, we propose a refinement of Mo geochemistry within aquatic systems, ancient rocks, and modern sediments through molecular geochemistry (systematically combining concentration, isotope ratio, elemental mapping, and speciation analyses). Specifically, to intermediate sulfide concentrations governing Mo behavior below the 'switch-point' and dominant sequestration pathways in low oxygen conditions. The aim of this work is to 1) aid and improve the breadth of Mo paleoproxy interpretations by considering Mo speciation and 2) address outstanding research gaps concerning Mo systematics (cycling, partitioning, sequestration, etc.). The Mo paleoproxy has potential to solve ever complex research questions. By using molecular geochemical recommendations, improved Mo paleoproxy interpretations and reconstruction can be achieved.
