Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Lipophilic 3 4 hydroxypyridinone Iron III Complexes written by Megan M. Fitzgerald and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iii Abstract Four N-substituted 3,4-hydroxypyridinone compounds were functionalized with four different aryl substituents with hydrocarbon tails of varying lengths. 3,4-hydroxypyridinone ligands were synthesized, isolated and characterized utilizing 1H-NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy and melting point analysis. These ligands were then used to form Fe(III) complexes. Complexes were characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and decomposition point analysis. In addition to Fe(III) complex characterization, a preliminary X-ray structure of complex Fe(1A)2Cl was collected.

Book Direct Synthesis of Metal Complexes

Download or read book Direct Synthesis of Metal Complexes written by B.I. Kharisov and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2018-04-19 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Direct Synthesis of Metal Complexes provides in-depth coverage of the direct synthesis of coordination and organometallic compounds. The work is primarily organized by methods, but also covers highly relevant complexes, such as metal-polymer coordination compounds. This updated reference discusses recent developments in cryosynthesis, electrosynthesis, and tribosynthesis (popular as it doesn’t require organic solvents), with special attention paid to ‘greener’ methodologies and approaches. Additionally, the book describes physical methods of zero-valent metal interaction with organic matter, including sputtering, ultrasonic treatment and synthesis in ionic liquids. The book presents completely new content as a follow-up to the 1999 Elsevier Science publication Direct Synthesis of Coordination and Organometallic Compounds that was edited by Dr. Garnovskii and Dr. Kharisov. Covers current methods and techniques of metal interactions with organic media leading to metal chelates, adducts, di- and polymetallic complexes, metal-containing macrocycles, supported coordination compounds (i.e., metal complexes on carbon nanotubes), and more Describes reactivities of distinct forms of elemental metals (powders, sheets, nanoparticles (including a host of less-common metal nanostructures) with organic phase (liquid, solid and gaseous) and water Includes experimental procedures, with examples of direct synthesis, at the end of each chapter

Book Rational Design Synthesis and Characterization of Amide Functionalized Pyridine and Benzimidazole Transition Metal Complexes

This book was released on 2011 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study expands our efforts to make a new class of Pt (II) compounds analogous to cisplatin and its derivatives using sterically hindered ligands. Pt compounds in this series have been synthesized using specially designed pyridine and benzimidazole ligands. These heterocycles, amide functionalized at position 2 with aryl and alkyl pendants, rapidly change their mode of coordination depending on the pH of the medium. These ligands, synthesized using condensation chemistry, also coordinate to Co(II), Ni(H), Cu(lI), and Zn(1I) generally as anionic bis-chelates through the benzimidazole nitrogen and the carbonyl oxygen, creating a four-coordinate complex with the exception of an unusual trigonal bipyramidal Zn(H) complex. I H NMR temperature studies reveal that these ligands interconvert between imide and amide isomers and that electron withdrawing pendants favor amide isomers. Crystal structures of Co(II) and Ni(1I) complexes of N-( I-methylbenzimidazol-2-yl)cyclohexanecarboxamide, for example, show two ligands bind per metal ion when reacted with acetate and nitrate salts. The bischelates of these Ni(1I) complexes also show expansions of their coordination spheres from four to five-coordinate. Furthermore, these Ni(II) bis-chelated complexes possess square planar or distorted 4-coordinate geometries. The synthesis and properties of several new Pt (II) complexes containing these ligands will be presented. A second generation and novel complex class containing metal-binding, linker and recognition domains is reported. Both classes of Pt complexes were obtained using a synthetic methodology which favors the cis isomers. The second generation complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2dn with lattice dimensions a = 17.7393(5) A, b = 11.4632(3) A, c = 19.3959(5) A and ~ = 99.794(3)°. These complexes have been characterized using physical methods that include X-ray crystallography, IH &13C NMR, Mass spectrometry, UV and IR spectroscopies. Complexes similar in structure to cisplatin and carboplatin show varying cytotoxic properties toward different cancer cell lines. Additionally, some of these new Pt complexes show comparable and promising cytotoxicity against prostate cancer cell lines.

Book Kinetically Controlled Stepwise Syntheses of a Heterometallic Complex and a Tetrahedral Chiral at Metal Complex

Download or read book Kinetically Controlled Stepwise Syntheses of a Heterometallic Complex and a Tetrahedral Chiral at Metal Complex written by Kenichi Endo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes novel synthetic methodologies for two kinds of structurally elaborate metal complexes: a heterometallic complex and a tetrahedral chiral-at-metal complex. The book provides the tools and inspiration to chemists for development of metal complexes with wide structural diversity than had previously been possible. For each of the two topics, existing synthetic methods for similar compounds are discussed first, and then new strategies are presented, followed by the demonstration of the synthesis of novel compounds supported by experimental results. Both of the final products in this research, a Co–Ni heterometallic complex covered in the first topic and a tetrahedral chiral-at-metal complex in the second one are difficult to obtain by using common synthetic methods for thermodynamic reasons. This research achieved highly selective syntheses of these compounds using newly designed strategies that enable precise kinetic control. Such an approach will be useful for synthesizing other new metal complexes. Since the last century, organic chemistry has flourished with the development of a variety of synthetic techniques that make precise kinetic control possible. Coordination chemistry of 3d or main-group transition metals has been mainly based on simple one-step reactions that yield only thermodynamic products. The publication of this book helps pave the way to kinetically controlled precise syntheses of various metal complexes.

Both the presence of mildly acidic hydroxy groups and slightly basic nitrogen atoms make (E, E)-dioximes amphoteric ligands which form corrin-type square-planar, square-pyramidal and octahedral complexes with some transition metal ions such as nickel (II), cobalt(II), copper(II), palladium(II) and cobalt(III) as central metal atoms

Book Synthesis and Characterization of Group VIII IX Transition Metal Complexes and Their Application in C H Bond Activation and Hydrogen Transformation

This book was released on 2018 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A cobalt analogue of Cp*Co(PMe3)Me(OTf) (Cp* = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - pentamethylcyclopenta-dienyl, OTf = OSO2CF3), in Chapter 2, was attempted to be synthesized and studied for electrophilic C-H bond activation. Three new cobalt complexes Cp*Co(PMe3)(Me)2, Cp*Co(PMe3)(OTf)2 and Cp*Co(PMe3)(Me)(I) were synthesized. The 1H NMR spectrum showed a new material formed after mixing Cp*Co(PMe3)(Me)2 and Cp*Co(PMe3)(OTf)2 in 1:1 ratio. In Chapter 3, five carboxylate ligated iridium complexes (dmPhebox)Ir(O2CR)2(H2O) (R = -CH3(known compound), -CH2CH3, -CMe3, - CH2C6H5, -CH=CMe2) were designed and synthesized to understand the carboxylate ligand effects on the reactivity of the complex for alkane dehydrogenation. Results from the kinetic study showed that different R groups of the carboxylate iridium complexes can affect the reactivity with octane in the ??H elimination step. The rate constants for octane formation with different carboxylate ligands follow the order R = -CH=CMe2 > -CMe3 > -CH2CH3 > -CH3 > -CH2C6H5. In contrast, there is no significant effect of carboxylate ligand on the rate of the C-H activation step at 160 ʻC. These experimental results support the findings in the previously reported density functional theory (DFT) study of the (dmPhebox)Ir complex in alkane C-H activation. In Chapter 4,5 and 6, hydrogen transformation during the dehydrogenation and hydrogenation of N-heterocycles with a cobalt pincer catalyst, hydrogenation of alkenes with Fe(II) precursors, and hydrogenation of alcohols and dehydrogenation of ketones with a Cp*Rh(III) catalyst were investigated. The results of the acceptorless, reversible dehydrogenation and hydrogenation of N-heterocycles suggests a bifunctional dehydrogenation pathway and a non-bifunctional hydrogenation mechanism. The iron catalysts described in Chapter 5 operate via a metal-ligand cooperative pathway via a stepwise hydride transfer and then proton transfer mechanism. The Cp*Rh(III) catalysts in Chapter 6 decompose upon heating to give nanoparticles."--Pages xi-xii.

This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of 2-aryl-3-cyclohexyl-1,3-thiazolidine-4-one triphenyltin chloride complexes were synthesized by reacting 1,3-thiazolidine-4-ones with triphenyltin chloride in acetone. The compounds were characterized using IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and X-ray crystallography to determine their structures. Organic tin (IV) compounds are toxic, and their biological importance has been extensively studied most notably against Ceratocystis ulmi, the fungus that causes Dutch elm disease. It is important to understand both the structure and behavior of these tin (IV) compounds to understand their biological abilities. Hammett [sigma] plots were constructed for the complexed and uncomplexed 1,3-thiazolidine-4-one compounds to understand the behavior of the complexes in solution. While the analysis of the crystal structure of the solid triphenyltin complexes showed a trigonal bipyramidal geometry with the chloride and the 1,3-thiazolidine-4-one in axial positions, IR and NMR studies suggest facile dissociation of the 1,3-thiazolidine-4-one ligand in solution.
