Book Synthesis and Characterization of Boron Based One dimensional Nanostructures

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Boron Based One dimensional Nanostructures written by Yan Li and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boric acid (H3BO3) nanotubes, nanotips, nanorods, microtubes, and microtips were synthesized by exposing a thin film containing boron, carbon, and oxygen to a controllable humid atmosphere. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) were used to characterize the thin films. The boric acid structures were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAD), and electron energy-loss spectrometry (EELS). The growth process of the boric acid structures was investigated. The dehydration kinetics of boric acid nanostructures in a vacuum was explored.

Book Organic Photovoltaics

Download or read book Organic Photovoltaics written by Sam-Shajing Sun and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 916 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently developed organic photovoltaics (OPVs) show distinct advantages over their inorganic counterparts due to their lighter weight, flexible shape, versatile materials synthesis and device fabrication schemes, and low cost in large-scale industrial production. Although many books currently exist on general concepts of PV and inorganic PV materials and devices, few are available that offer a comprehensive overview of recently fast developing organic and polymeric PV materials and devices. Organic Photovoltaics: Mechanisms, Materials, and Devices fills this gap. The book provides an international perspective on the latest research in this rapidly expanding field with contributions from top experts around the world. It presents a unified approach comprising three sections: General Overviews; Mechanisms and Modeling; and Materials and Devices. Discussions include sunlight capture, exciton diffusion and dissociation, interface properties, charge recombination and migration, and a variety of currently developing OPV materials/devices. The book also includes two forewords: one by Nobel Laureate Dr. Alan J. Heeger, and the other by Drs. Aloysius Hepp and Sheila Bailey of NASA Glenn Research Center. Organic Photovoltaics equips students, researchers, and engineers with knowledge of the mechanisms, materials, devices, and applications of OPVs necessary to develop cheaper, lighter, and cleaner renewable energy throughout the coming decades.

Book Synthesis and Characterization of Glycosides

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Glycosides written by Marco Brito-Arias and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-22 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third edition is a comprehensive and extended study about the best known approaches for preparing the main types of glycosides, covering the classic and more recent glycosylation reactions used for preparing simple and challenging glycosides currently used as potent antiviral and antineoplastic drugs, or fluorogenic substrates used for enzymatic detection in cell biology. Besides, this new edition provides more examples of the glycosidic methodologies followed for preparing complex glycoconjugates such as glycoproteins and glycosphingolipids and gangliosides used as adjuvants or as synthetic vaccines candidates. Also, additional mechanistic evidence is presented for better understanding of the glycosylation reaction, trying to identify the variables mainly depending on protecting and leaving groups, as well as catalyst and reaction condition which altogether directs the anomeric stereo control. A chapter on the glycoside hydrolysis is included in view of the increasing interest in the use of biomass as a natural and renewable source for obtaining important intermediates or products used in food or valuable materials. The author includes information in the characterization of glycosides section with the aim of giving additional tools for the structural assignment through NMR, X-Ray and mass spectra techniques.
