Book Synthesis and Characterization of New Boron Nitrogen and Boron Nitrogen Phosphorus Systems

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of New Boron Nitrogen and Boron Nitrogen Phosphorus Systems written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The preparative and derivative chemistry of organoborane compounds that contain silicon-nitrogen functional groups is both diverse and synthetically useful. The wide variety of reactions that can occur at boron, in combination with facile cleavage of the Si-N bond, makes them potential precursors to polymeric B-N systems. We report here on the synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of three representative examples of the title systems of general types 1 and 2. Some of these systems are being studied as the precursors to new types of inorganic-organic hybrid polymers and/or novel ring systems.

Book Synthesis and Characterization of 4 aryl Substituted Silicon nitrogen boron and Silicon nitrogen Systems

This book was released on 2016 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Neilson group has developed a broad spectrum of derivative chemistry originating from the study of boron compounds containing silicon-nitrogen functional groups. Some of our current research interests have focused on investigating compounds containing Si-N moieties attached to a 4-substituted aryl (Ar) functionality to afford silylanilino derivatives. Due to the variety of reactions that can occur at the boron center, combined with the reactivity of the Si-N bond, some of these compounds have the potential to be precursors to new cyclic and/or polymeric systems, for example poly(phenylene-borazenes), i.e. new inorganic-organic hybrid polymers in which the borazene ( -BR-NR'- ) and arylene ( -C6H4- ) units alternate along the backbone. The work to be presented focuses on the synthesis, characterization and reactivity of some representative examples of 4-aryl substituted (silylanilino)boranes. To be discussed are two classes of title compounds of type I, (silylanilino)boranes with the Ar-N-B backbone, and type II, (silylanilino)boranes with the B-Ar-N backbone. With.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the chemistry of boron is still relatively young, it is developing at a pace where even specific areas of research are difficult to compile into a monograph. Besides the boron hydrides, boron-nitrogen compounds are among the most fascinating derivatives of boron. Nitrogen compounds exist in a wide variety of molecular structures and display many interesting properties. The combination of nitrogen and boron, however, has some unusual features that are hard to match in any other combination of elements. This situation was first recognized by ALFRED STOCK and it seems proper to pay tribute to his outstanding work in the area of boron chemistry. One should realize that about forty years ago, STOCK and his coworkers had to develop completely new experimental techniq'\les and that no guidance for the interpreta tion of their rather unusual data had been advanced by theoretical chemists. In this monograph an attempt has been made to explore the general characteristics of structure and the principles involved in the preparation and reactions of boron-nitroge~ compounds. It was a somewhat difficult task to select that information which appears to be of the most interest to "inorganic and general chemistry" since the electronic relationship between a boron-nitrogen and a carbon-carbon grouping is reflected in the "organic" character of many of the reactions and compounds.

Book The Synthesis Structures Reactivity and Polymerization Behavior of Boron and Sulfur nitrogen phosphorus Heterocycles and Highly Strained Chalcogen and Boron bridged 1 ferrocenophanes

Download or read book The Synthesis Structures Reactivity and Polymerization Behavior of Boron and Sulfur nitrogen phosphorus Heterocycles and Highly Strained Chalcogen and Boron bridged 1 ferrocenophanes written by Derek Patrick Gates and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation of the chemistry of the boratophosphazene N(PCl 2NMe)2BCl2 led to the first examples of borazine-phosphazene hybrid cations [N(PCl2NMe)2BCl]+, which possess planar rings, and are formally hybrids of two textbook classes of inorganic heterocycles. The skeletal replacement of a boron atom in an inorganic ring with a heteroelement has been discovered from the treatment of N(PCl 2NMe)2BCl2 with Ag[AsF6] or Ag[SbF 6]. This provides a novel approach to the synthesis of heterocycles containing As(V) and Sb(V) which are difficult to prepare via conventional routes. The thionylphosphazene cation [NSO(NPCl2)2] +, was synthesized as a highly reactive intermediate, which cleaves diethyl ether to yield the sulfur-ethoxy substituted species, NSO(OCH 2CH3)(NPCl2)2, and reacts with 1,2-dichloroethane to yield NSO(CH2CHCl2)(NPCl2)2. Treatment of NSOCl(NPCl2)2 with SbCl5 produces macrocycles, [NSOCl(NPCl2)2]n (n = 2-6); whereas the similar reaction with GaCl3 provides a new, convenient, ambient temperature route to poly(thionylphosphazene) [NSOCl(NPCl2) 2]n. These transformations presumably occur 'via' a cationic mechanism. The reactions of cyclic thionylphosphazenes NSOX(NPCl2) 2 (X = Cl or F) with three oxygen-based nucleophiles [NaOPh, NaOCH 2CF3 and NaOBu] were found to proceed regioselectively; first at phosphorus and secondly at sulfur. The substitution of the rings has been extended to the synthesis of new mixed substituent poly[(alkoxy/amino)thionylphosphazenes] which are useful in pressure sensing composite materials. The first examples of highly strained sulfur-, selenium- and boron-bridged [1]ferrocenophanes have been synthesized and the ring-tilts (>31°) are the largest for any known [1]ferrocenophane. Extended Hûckel MO calculations were performed and predicted a decrease in the HOMO-LUMO gap as the ring tilt increases from ferrocene to Fe([eta]-C5H4)2S. Thermal and anionic ROP of Fe([eta]-C5H3Me)2S yields the first soluble poly(ferrocenylsulfide).
