Book Synthesis Characterization and Reactivity of Manganese II Complexes Containing N heterocyclic Carbene Ligands

Download or read book Synthesis Characterization and Reactivity of Manganese II Complexes Containing N heterocyclic Carbene Ligands written by Venkateswaran Mahesh Krishnan and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of divalent manganese complexes containing N -heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands were synthesized and characterized in solution and the solid state. Chlorido complexes of Mn(II) containing the NHC ligands 1,3-dimesitylimidazol-2-ylidene (IMes) and 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazol-2-ylidene (IPr) were prepared in straightforward fashion by direct carbene addition to MnCl 2 (thf)1.5. The chlorido complexes were found to be ineffective precatalysts in Kumada-type coupling reactions of simple aryl halides. Cyclic voltammetry studies of one of the chloride complexes, [MnCl2 (IMes)2 ], demonstrate no electrochemically accessible reduction events in tetrahydrofuran, possibly accounting for the lack of catalytic activity. Chlorido complexes containing both IMes and IPr ligands serve as precursors to alkyl and aryl compounds of Mn(II). Characterization of the alkyl and aryl complexes is reported, and comparisons are made between these complexes and similar compounds in the chemical literature.

Book Elemental Speciation

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph A. Caruso
  • Publisher : Elsevier Science Limited
  • Release : 2000
  • ISBN : 9780444500472
  • Pages : 581 pages

Download or read book Elemental Speciation written by Joseph A. Caruso and published by Elsevier Science Limited. This book was released on 2000 with total page 581 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardbound. This book provides a comprehensive discussion of the major aspects involved in elemental speciation. Sample preparation, separation techniques, instrumentation and quality assurance are all discussed. In addition, individual chapters are devoted to speciation of environmental samples and speciation of biological, clinical, and nutritional samples. Individual chapters are written by leaders in the field, and the book has been organized so that the reader may learn how to collect a sample and prepare it. Ways to separate and detect analytes of interest, and steps to take to ensure the validity of the measurements are also discussed. This book is unique in its comprehensive treatment of this subject.

Book Chemical Derivatization in Analytical Chemistry

Download or read book Chemical Derivatization in Analytical Chemistry written by R. W. Frei and published by Springer. This book was released on 1981 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the second volume in this senes we have continued the theme of Volume 1 and expanded more generally into separation and continuous flow techniques. The first chapter gives an account on flow injection analysis. Thi~ technique has gained considerable interest in the recent past and offers many facets of the use of chemistry in automated analysis procedures. One of these facets is certainly also the use of ion-pairing reactions, and we have been fortunate to get two well-known experts to treat this subject. The use of ion-pairing techniques is being discussed from a batch extraction (sample handling) point of view as well as for flow injection and chromato graphic purposes. Immobilized enzymes are another area of major attention and their multidirectional use in analytical chemistry is illuminated in Chapter 3 with special emphasis on their use in connection with liquid chromatography. Needless to say, similar techniques have also found their way into con tinuous-flow methodology (Auto-Analyzers) and many of the aspects dis cussed in Chapter 3 are adaptable to this end. The need and recent urgency for separation of optical isomers in many areas, particularly pharmaceutical and clinical analysis, has spurred a flurry of activity in this special section of chromatography. The current status of the field of optical isomer separation is competently reviewed in Chapter 4. Again this is a typical area wherein it is the proper use of chemistry that finally delivers a solution. The last two chapters deal with precolumn or prechromatographic derivatization techniques.

Book Chemical Derivatization in Analytical Chemistry

Download or read book Chemical Derivatization in Analytical Chemistry written by R. W. Frei and published by Springer. This book was released on 1981-09 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume in this series is devoted to derivatization techniques in chromatography, for very obvious reasons. In gas chromatography (GC) chemical derivatization as an aid to expand the usefulness of the technique has been known for more than a decade and has become an established approach. The first chapter deals to a great extent with derivatization for the purpose of making compounds amenable to Gc. Although the discussion concentrates on pesticides, some generally valid conclusions can be drawn from this chapter. Chemistry will not be limited to the separation-it can also have a pronounced impact on the sample cleanup, another topic cov ered in Chapter 1. Since the introduction of coupled GC-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS), a very powerful tool, derivatization techniques have taken still another di rection-taking into consideration chromatographic as well as mass spec trometric improvement of the compounds of interest. Cyclic boronates are discussed as derivatization reagents for this purpose in the second chapter.
