This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS)* at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dis semination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the though that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemi nation. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 37 (thesis year 1992) a total of 12,549 thesis titles from 25 Canadian and 153 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this impor tant annual reference work. While Volume 37 reports theses submitted in 1992, on occasion, certain uni versities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Download or read book and Hole Interactions written by Antonio Frontera and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-03-30 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes unconventional noncovalent interactions and analyzes their importance for crystal growth in organic and hybrid organic–inorganic systems. Several examples illustrate how the combination of theory and experiment allows rationalizing the strength and directionality of noncovalent interactions. This book elegantly describes the results of a survey of X-ray structures of main group element compounds (M = Sn, Pb As, Sb, Bi, and Te) exhibiting intermolecular M•••Se noncovalent interactions in one of its chapters. Moreover, it provides a consistent description of noncovalent interactions, covering most groups of the periodic table. The interactions are described and discussed using their trivial names. That is, a comprehensive and accurate description is provided for alkali, alkaline earth, regium, spodium, triel, tetrel, pnictogen, chalcogen, halogen, and aerogen bonding interactions. No other book is available covering such an extensive number of interactions and examples where these interactions are relevant. relevant.

Download or read book Lewis Base Catalysis in Organic Synthesis 3 Volume Set written by Edwin Vedejs and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-10-10 with total page 1476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This three-volume set represents the first comprehensive coverage of the rapidly expanding field of Lewis base catalysis that has attracted enormous attention in recent years. Lewis base catalysis is a conceptually novel paradigm that encompasses an extremely wide variety of preparatively useful transformations and is particularly effective for enantioselectively constructing new stereogenic centers. As electron-pair donors, Lewis bases can influence the rate and stereochemical course of myriad synthetic organic reactions. The book presents the conceptual/mechanistic principles that underlie Lewis base catalysis, and then builds upon that foundation with a thorough presentation of many different reaction types. And last but not least, the editors, Prof. Edwin Vedejs and Prof. Scott E. Denmark, are without doubt the leaders in this emerging field and have compiled high quality contributions from an impressive collection of international experts.
Download or read book Non covalent Interactions in the Synthesis and Design of New Compounds written by Abel M. Maharramov and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to overview the role of non-covalent interactions, such as hydrogen and halogen bonding, π-π, π-anion and electrostatic interactions, hydrophobic effects and van der Waals forces in the synthesis of organic and inorganic compounds, as well as in design of new crystals and function materials. The proposed book should allow to combine, in a systematic way, recent advances on the application of non-covalent interactions in synthesis and design of new compounds and functional materials with significance in Inorganic, Organic, Coordination, Organometallic, Pharmaceutical, Biological and Material Chemistries. Therefore, it should present a multi- and interdisciplinary character assuring a rather broad scope. We believe it will be of interest to a wide range of academic and research staff concerning the synthesis of new compounds, catalysis and materials. Each chapter will be written by authors who are well known experts in their respective fields.
Download or read book Green Synthesis of Nanomaterials written by Giovanni Benelli and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-11-18 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nanomaterials possess astonishing physical and chemical properties. They play a key role in the development of novel and effective drugs, catalysts, sensors, and pesticides, to cite just a few examples. Notably, the synthesis of nanomaterials is usually achieved with chemical and physical methods needing the use of extremely toxic chemicals or high-energy inputs. To move towards more eco-friendly processes, researchers have recently focused on so-called “green synthesis”, where microbial, animal-, and plant-borne compounds can be used as cheap reducing and stabilizing agents to fabricate nanomaterials. Green synthesis routes are cheap, environmentally sustainable, and can lead to the fabrication of nano-objects with controlled sizes and shapes—two key features determining their bioactivity. However, real-world applications of green-fabricated nanomaterials are largely unexplored. Besides, what do we really know about their non-target toxicity? Which are their main modes of action? What is their possible fate in the environment? In this framework, the present Special Issue will include articles by expert authorities on nanomaterials synthesis and applications. Special emphasis will be placed on their impact on the environment and long-term toxicity.

Download or read book The Chemistry of Organogold Compounds 2 Volume Set written by Zvi Rappoport and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-04-20 with total page 1158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book in the PATAI Series was published in 1964 and the Series will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2014. This "Golden Jubilee" is accompanied by the publication of the first volume on the chemistry of organogold. In the history of the PATAI Series there was, so far, no volume dedicated to gold alone. In 1999 we published a volume on The Chemistry of Gold and Silver Compounds. Since then a lot of new chemistry using gold has been developed and it is timely to focus a volume on methods and applications of organogold compounds in organic synthesis, reflecting the enormous progress which has been made in the use of gold compounds as reagents and catalysts. A second area of great importance covered in the book is the use of gold surfaces in the synthesis of peptides, proteins and other natural products. A whole range of applications in the area of biochemistry has resulted from these developments. A third area of interest is the synthesis and engineering of nanostructures, where organogold chemistry has opened the door for a wide range of methods and applications in the field of nanoscience and materials science. As with all new volumes, the chapters are first published online in Patai's Chemistry of Functional Groups. Once a volume is completed online, it is then published in print format. The printed book offers the traditional quality of the Patai Book Series, complete with an extensive index.
