Book Synthesis and Characterization of Highly Crystalline Anatase Titania

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Highly Crystalline Anatase Titania written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Samarium (Sm) doped titania samples were prepared through sol- el process by using titanium oxosulphate as precursor for titanium and samarium oxide as a precursor for Sm3+ ions. The main objective of the proposed study is to stabilize the anatase phase of titania up to high temperatures. Thermal analysis showed a weight loss of 21 % on heating up to 1000C in an inert atmosphere. IR analysis showed the complete removal of the surfactant on calcination at 500C for 2 h. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction XRD, SEM, UV, TG-DTA & FTIR studies. It was found that the anatase phase of titania was stable up to 850C. The catalyst showed visible light absorption as evident from the UV-VIS spectrum and was found to be an active photo catalyst in sunlight.

Book excerpt: In this special volume on polymer particles, recent trends and developments in the synthesis of nano- to micron-sized polymer particles by radical polymerization (Emulsion, Miniemulsion, Microemulsion, and Dispersion Polymerizations) of vinyl monomers in environmentally friendly heterogeneous aqueous and supercritical carbon dioxide fluid media are reviewed by prominent worldwide researchers. In addition to the important challenges and possibilities with regards to design and preparation of functionalized polymer particles of controlled size, the topics described are of great current interest due to the increased awareness of environmental issues.

Book Carbon Nanotube Polymer Composites

Download or read book Carbon Nanotube Polymer Composites written by Dimitrios Tasis and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2015-11-09 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemically-modified carbon nanotubes (CNTs) exhibit a wide range of physical and chemical properties which makes them an attractive starting material for the preparation of super-strong and highly-conductive fibres and films. Much information is available across the primary literature, making it difficult to obtain an overall picture of the state-of-the-art. This volume brings together some of the leading researchers in the field from across the globe to present the potential these materials have, not only in developing and characterising novel materials but also the devices which can be fabricated from them. Topics featured in the book include Raman characterisation, industrial polymer materials, actuators and sensors and polymer reinforcement, with chapters prepared by highly-cited authors from across the globe. A valuable handbook for any academic or industrial laboratory, this book will appeal to newcomers to the field and established researchers alike.

Book Multifunctional Oxide Based Materials From Synthesis to Application

Download or read book Multifunctional Oxide Based Materials From Synthesis to Application written by Teofil Jesionowski and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-09-03 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book deals with novel aspects and perspectives in metal oxide and hybrid material fabrication. The contributions are mainly focused on the search for a new group of advanced materials with designed physicochemical properties, especially an expanded porous structure and defined surface activity. The proposed technological procedures result in an enhanced activity of the synthesized hybrid materials, which is of great importance when considering their potential fields of application. The use of such materials in different technological disciplines, including aspects associated with environmental protection, allows for the verification of the proposed synthesis method. Thus, it can be stated that those aspects are of interdisciplinary character and may be located at the interface of three scientific disciplines—chemistry, materials science, and engineering—as well as environmental protection. Furthermore, the presented scientific scope is in some way an answer to the continuous demand for such types of materials and opens new perspectives for their practical use
