The crisis in Biblical history is reflected in The Bible Unearthed. Palestinian archaeologist William Dever has just published What Did the Biblical Writers Know, and When Did They Know It? Peter James received wide attention for his Centuries of Darkness; David Rohl, in Pharaohs and Kings, relies on the recent archaeological work of Beitak at Tel Dab'a in Egypt. The evidence is compelling that the site's population before the Hyksos took over was none other than the Hebrews. Rohl's work, on the period preceding the Exodus, is complementary to The Synchronized Chronology. Like James, however, he tries to squeeze the remaining Egyptian dynasties without discarding the duplicates. It doesn't work. Anyone who enjoys ancient history, archaeology or a good mystery will find this an intriguing read. The controversial theory is well-researched and sure to generate debate.

Using that new harmonized Hebrew chronology as a reference timeline, and by using the latest chronological data developed by modern scholars for the reigns of kings in the nations surrounding Israel during the biblical time period, it compares the regnal chronologies of Egypt, Assyria, Tyre, and Babylon with the Hebrew regnal timeline. In this way, it demonstrates that there are thirty eponyms (years) missing from the chronology of Assyria as traditionally derived from the Eponym Canon and Chronicles, and it identifies where those missing years can be found (between the end of the reign of Shalmaneser III and at the beginning of the reign of Tiglath-pileser III). In so doing, it re-establishes the biblical text as a trustworthy source for doing chronological study and historical research.

The new Hebrew kings chronology was made possible by recent biblical research that applied information contained in the Book of Daniel to identify the date for the beginning of the divided kingdoms period as 961 BCE, not the 931 BCE date derived from the traditional Assyrian chronology used throughout modern academia. The new Hebrew chronology based on using the 961 BCE starting date for the Hebrew kingdoms period allows construction of a more accurate reference timeline for the reigns of the kings of Israel and Judah than possible using traditional Assyrian-anchored chronology. By employing the new and more accurate Hebrew kings chronology, along with the latest chronological data developed by modern scholars for the reigns of non-Hebrew kings in the nations surrounding Israel during the biblical time period, this book compares the regnal chronologies of Egypt, Assyria, Tyre, Babylon, and Urartu with the new Hebrew regnal timeline. The new Hebrew chronology and traditional Egyptian chronology yield agreement when compared with one another. However, comparison of the resulting Hebrew-Egyptian synchronized timeline with traditional Assyrian chronology reveals that there are thirty eponyms (and thus thirty years) missing from the Assyrian timeline as derived from the Eponym List and Chronicles, and it identifies where those missing years can be found (between the end of the reign of Shalmaneser III and the currently-accepted start of the reign of Tiglath-pileser III). In so doing, this book shows that the biblical text is the most accurate and trustworthy ancient source text available for doing chronological research and historical studies, and demonstrates that the biblical timeline can be used to calibrate other chronologies in the ancient Near East. He was appalled by what he discovered there. It has been said that in the Bible everything can be put in doubt with the exception of the footnotes. This is exactly what he found out. Where he had expected to receive an in-depth intellectual introduction to theological matters, he found himself subjected to a sort of brain washing aiming at replacing all what he had learned in his childhood and in a lifetime as a practicing catholic by the most futile modern fantasies and in particular by the imaginations of the theory of evolution. Evolution is for our time what Arianism was in the first centuries: the major heresy. It is even more than an heresy, an anti-theology which attributes to materialistic processes what used to be and should always be attributed to God's power and love. Nevertheless a large crowd of theologians, exegetes, professors and bishops adhere to this theory with an enthusiasm that they justify by claiming that science has proven its adequation to reality without any doubt. Evolution is more than a theory, they claim, this is the consensus of the scientists and it would be a sin against truth not to admit it. Refusing to accept that, the author decided to inquire about the scientific foundations of evolution. He quickly discovered that not only were such foundations most unconvincing, but that several of the most vocal defenders of the theory candidly admitted the patent absurdity of some of its constructs (Richard Lewontin) and that their aim was purely ideological or rather anti-religious. The results of his work were published in two books : “La terrible Responsabilité de l'exégèse moderne dans la crise de l'Église” (Edilivre, Paris, 2015) and “Modern Exegesis, the Theory of Evolution and the Decline of Catholicism in the West” (2016, Available on Amazon). The present e-book summarizes the scientific arguments opposing evolution with a special focus on the time line of the beginnings of mankind.
