Download or read book Religion and Politics in the United States and Germany written by Dagmar Pruin and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2007 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current interest in the relation of religion and politics is intense in both the US and Germany. Yet observers are regularly struck by fundamental divergences between approaches to and conceptualisations of this field on either side of the Atlantic. This volume, containing contributions by German and US authors from various disciplinary backgrounds, seeks to offer some clarification by elucidating traditional and newly emerging differences between, but also common challenges to, these societies in issues such as pluralism of values, religious education, the role of religious minorities, the relation of religion and elite formation, and religious aspects of voting patterns.

Download or read book Corpus Inscriptionum Arabicarum Palaestinae Volume Six J 1 written by Moshe Sharon and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2017-03-06 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Western Palestine is extremely rich in Arabic inscriptions, whose dates range from as early as CE 150 until modern times. Most of the inscriptions date from the Islamic period, for under Islam the country gained particular religious and strategic importance, even though it made up only part of the larger province of Syria. This historical importance is clearly reflected in the hundreds of inscriptions, the texts of which cover a variety of topics: construction, dedication, religious endowments, epitaphs, Qur'anic texts, prayers and invocations, all now assembled in the Corpus Inscriptionum Arabicarum Palaestinae (CIAP). The CIAP follows the method established at the end of the 19th century by Max van Berchem, namely, the studying of the Arabic inscriptions 'in context'. Van Berchem managed to publish two volumes of the inscriptions from Jerusalem: the CIAP covers the entire country. The inscriptions are arranged according to site, and are studied in their respective topographical, historical and cultural context. In this way the CIAP offers more than a survey of inscriptions: it represents the epigraphical angle of the geographical history of the Holy Land. Volume One: (A) was published in 1997, Volume Two: (B-C) in 1999, Volume Three: (D-F) in 2004, Volume Four: (G) in 2008, an Addendum in 2007, Volume Five: (H-I) in 2013, Volume Six: J (1) in 2016 and Volume Seven: J (2) Jerusalem 1 in 2021. All volumes are still available.
Download or read book YOU are GOD written by Werner J. Kraftsik and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-05-28 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the earliest beginnings, people have searched for the where from, where to and the meaning of their lives. Because there were and are no satisfactory answers, something otherworldly, something greater, incomprehensible for the origin of the world, the creation of man and for the fate of all had to be cause and cause. This is how the images of God emerged, which developed differently in the various ethnic groups. Where is this god? Who is he? What does he tell people? What does he expect from people and what do people hope for from HIM? Where do they find God - ultimately? It's a long-running search, with surprising results.
